My son was recently in a car accident driving my car. We pursued the other's person insurance carrier for the damage. We were advised to take the car to Xtreme Collision Repair for an estimate. The accident occurred in ***** and I reside in ******, so my son (***************************) is coordinating the repairs. ****** insurance informed us that the car would be towed to the repair shop for an estimate. Once the car was there my son received a call from the repair shop advising a check was mailed and it should be brought to the shop. My son provided the check to the repair shop in the amount of $3000.00. Upon receiving payment the repair stated the estimate would be $21000.00 for a 2015 ****** Camry with over ******* miles. ********************* totaled the car and now the repair shop is refusing to return the payment. I'm disgusted at how this repair shop conducts business. Always promising me a call back but never actually returning any of my calls! Also, trying to take advantage of my 23 year old son is LOW. I want a full refund.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/24/2024

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We sincerely apologize for any frustration and inconvenience you and your son have experienced.

Upon receiving your vehicle, we conducted a thorough assessment and determined that the estimated repair cost would be $21,000.00, due to the extent of the damage. We understand this is significantly higher than the initial payment of $3,000 received from the insurance company, which was applied toward the outstanding balance of $6,005.00.  Once the insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss, they should have provided next steps for settlement options and paid out any fees owed to the shop for work done. Unfortunately, this wasn't able to take place since the vehicle was unlawfully towed out.

We apologize for the delay in communication and any distress this may have caused. We are committed to ensuring our team improves our communication practices to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience but this could have been avoided if the total loss process was carried out and the vehicle not towed away with an outstanding bill.

      Sincerely,
      ***********************
