I bought a 2012 ***** 6 from ***** at Greg Chapman motors. When I arrived they said the car was being inspected, it was brought back and I left with my new car. A week later my engine light comes on, mass airflow sensor. I call and say that this car should be having issues and they offered to fix it. About a month later they start harassing me saying I need to get the car inspected and threatening to take the car. I called them out for lying to me, asking why they took their time letting me know it didnt pass the initial inspection and they admitted to me they knew about the airflow sensor. The light came back on when I took the vehicle to be inspected and it failed again. The dealership told me they would fix it and get it reinspected. Well, I need this car to get me to ******. The light is back on with the same issue! I had a feeling in my gut when I left with the car after they said it was fixed a second time, that they either cleared the code so it would pass inspection. Or did a quick fix so that when it acted up again it would seem like my issue.Business Response

The car was sold needing an inspection . This is not uncommon when a customer wants to buy a vehicle that we have recently purchased like this one. We had ordered a part that would be required to complete the inspection and the customer was told about this and that we would need the car back to take care of the repair and inspection. I have the complete text threads where my salesman attempted to get the customer to come back. She would promise to bring the car and not show up. Finally we told her that we had to have the car back to complete inspection and registration and we offered to tow it to the lot if needed. Whatever problem she is having now may or may not be connected to the original problem. We don't know because she hasn't mentioned the new issue until now. We sell every car as is but will make repairs agreed upon and sometimes go beyond that when a customer has an issue shortly after the sale. In this case instead of calling us and explaining the problem and asking for help she chose to file a complaint. We sold the car As Is, and the customer signed the form stating that she understands this. She is responsible for this and all future repairs.Initial Complaint

Purchase date 08/03022 Less than 2 weeks of purchasing vehicle had to replace battery and alternator, which they went half off the 1st payment on. Yesterday the engine, traction control, and the *** light came on and the car stopped on me as soon as I got it home. A hose had came off and so we got someone to put it on. This morning I was on my way to work and the same lights came on so halfway there I had to turn around and get it back home. Someone is coming to look at it soon as they get off. I called the dealership and talked to *****, who we brought the vehicle from and explained to him what was going on and is there anyway we could maybe switch it out for another one or see what the owner would be able to do, and long story short he said they wasn't going to do anything else concerning it. My thing is it will be 3 weeks tomorrow that we've had it and haven't made the first payment yet and we're putting money into it. We can't afford to keep doing that.Business Response

The customer purchased the car on 08/03 and it has been a month since that purchase. The customer is not telling the truth about the length of time. We received a call maybe 2 weeks after the purchase and she said that the car was in the shop for alteranator and battery and asked what we could do. This vehicle was purchased As IS with no warranty and she was made aware of this at the time of sale and signed the As IS agreement. Even though that is the case, I offered to pay half of the repair cost. I was expecting it to be in the $550.00 range for parts and labor. She only asked for $144.85 which I wrote a check for and applied to her fist payment. I have to wonder what actually was repaired and who did the repair since that is not enough to cover half of the cost of such a repair. about 12 days later we received another call saying the car was not running and that they wanted a different car. We told them we would not do that. This customer has currently driven the car over **** miles in a month. when the car was purchased it had over 200k miles. Any used car especially one with high miles will require some maintenance when driven that much. She is on pace to put around ****** miles in a year. Average for a year is 12 - 15 thousand miles. This customer is 100% responsible for all repairs to the car they purchased.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Perhaps by the time the dealership read the complaint it was a month we had had the vehicle. It was a month on September the 3rd. And as for the amount of miles on the car, I'm attaching the actual miles that are on the car because they would not know because they haven't seen the car on the inside since purchase. As for taking the car to a shop, maybe they expected us to go to the ****** Dealer, only we couldn't afford that so we had to go where we could afford. And yes I sent the receipt so they could see how much it was. So yes they are supposed to take $144.85 off our first payment. But We are very concerned about other things being wrong with the vehicle when we have had it for such a short period of time. We have been very honest about what happened and can't believe they are saying we weren't. By the way this happened we feel they are selling some bad cars and then making sure they put the "AS IS" clause with the contract and it's not right at all. Be fair to your customers. They should make sure those cars are running before you put them out to sell. Just like they lied about the miles, what else are they lying about?

The car had no problems at time of sale. We are providing a service to folks with bad credit that don't have other options for purchasing. We finance older higher mileage used cars. I don't know of another dealer in ****** that sells the type of cars that I do and goes to the same lengths when it comes to repairing cars before the sale. IT's unfortunate that high mileage used cars break down but they do. For this repair I did more than the law requires. If the customer had brought the car to us initially we would have done the repair at no cost. Then, I believe the repair would have been done correctly and the other resulting damage caused by whoever worked on the vehicle at a discount would not have happened.Customer Answer

***** And ***********************I asked ***** before we signed any papers if they did repairs, service after the sale and he said no. I asked!!!! That's why we DIDN'T bring it to them so he needs to stop lying. And also, if they did repairs then why didn't he say so when I called and told him the problem we had at first. And he doesn't know of anybody that will go to the links they did??? What links? Since he doesn't know of anyone else, I'll tell him, ***** CHAPMAN MOTORS DOES above and beyond!!!! They not only sell you the vehicles, but they aervice them too, and they REALLY work with you!!!!
