Three Day Rule promises high level match making with well vetted, quality matches. The package I signed up for was supposed to present at least 1 match a month for 6 months. They describe the match maker as your "hype girl" who is with you at each step of the way. Three Day Rule delivers none of these things. The matches are not well vetted nor are they high quality. They also could not deliver 1 match/month. The first match maker I was paired with was not the right fit for me. Three Day Rule was open to changing match makers and while I think the second match maker was a better fit, she did not present high quality, well vetted matches. I raised my concerns with my match maker and the sales person who sold the package and it's been more than a week and they are not getting back to me. My working theory is that Three Day Rule does not have a robust pool in the Philadelphia market despite representations to the contrary. Also, it seems the pricing is arbitrary and may be discriminatory in charging women more than men.Business response

We are sorry to hear you are feeling this way about your experience. We know you are in touch with our Client Experience Manager and we want to see what we can do to adjust it. Your feedback matters to us and we genuinely care about your experience.
Our objective is never to send a match just to match you - there is a lot that goes on in the background including making sure matches are interested in you and also fit the important qualities you are looking for.
Matchmaking is often a balance of finding people who fit what you are looking for and also helping our clients to see beyond to someone they may really connect with. Our goal is to find that balance to help our clients date differently and meet someone who will really make them happy in the long run.
We are glad you feel your new Matchmaker is a better fit. We agree that Matchmaker/client chemistry is so important and we were happy to make this switch. While we do aim for 1 match a month this can take slightly shorter or slightly longer as we meet people we are excited about. We would love to continue to connect more on how to better align matches with you - we know you have only met 3 in person, but we have presented 7. We are glad you are connecting with our Client Experience team - we want to make sure the experience is beneficial and matches are well aligned.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: TDR's response misrepresents the situation regarding the matches I was presented; thus, leaving the incorrect presumption that they have delivered on the contract. At best, I've had 3 "matches" over approximately 7 months and one of those matches is a stretch because he had one of my deal breaker traits and also said that he wasn't looking for a relationship at the time we were matched.I filed the complaint with the BBB because *** sold a service that promised high quality, well vetted matches who are looking for relationships. The have not delivered any high quality, well vetted matches.
I am currently speaking with someone from the Client Experience Team and am hopeful that we can come to a resolution.

Service Start Date: 11/01/2023 Amount Paid: $4500 ************ pitched that they were a great matchmaking company, that had very good matchmakers that I am "in great hands" with. They made it seem like their quality of service was very good as well. So, my family and I decided to move forward, sign the agreement, and pay them $4500 for what seemed like a great service to help me find my future partner. I literally experienced the opposite with my matchmaker who was often unavailable, made me follow up with her on when we are meeting which is insane because I am paying her. She rushed into the last match I can definitely tell and was overall just rude. When I told her a match hadn't reached out...instead of following up she said verbatim "onto the next" like WHAT. My family and I are so dissatisfied with this service. We went right to the client experience team and tried to get our money back but they weren't willing to do so. Then I disputed the charge with ***** and sent in multiple documents supporting my case and still they denied the claim as they said I need to connect with the merchant directly. This is all not fair and I would now love to see if Better Business Bureau can help me get my money back because at this point its just insane that we had to pay this much money for an absolute garbage experience. This is $4500 not $100. Please help in anyway that you can. Thank you! -*********************Business response

We stand by our work with this client. Our agreement with this client was for a 3 Month Membership with a minimum of 3 matches. We matched the client with 4 matches, 3 of which she met and 1 she declined. Her Matchmaker also had 3 additional matches ready to present to her however the client asked to speak with management. Our matching process is factored upon mutually agreed Client Preferences. All of her matches met her must have and deal breakers as agreed upon. Her Matchmaker thoughtfully vetted each match and felt they were a good fit.
This clients official start date was November 15th, 2023. We are sad to hear she felt the communication about a match with her Matchmaker was not clear. Her Matchmaker did follow up with the match 3 times and communicated this to the client. When the Matchmaker did not hear back from the match she was trying to positively move forward onto the next match. We are sorry to hear that did not come across the way it was intended. It is important to us that our team is communicative and that clients feel supported by their Matchmaker. It sounds like there was some miscommunication about setting up the meeting she requested as the Matchmaker understood she was waiting to hear back from the client about a time.
This client spoke to our Director of Client Experience a few times. We understand this client is unhappy with the outcome of the process and as a gesture of goodwill, we would like to offer three options for additional services:
1. One extra match with a new Matchmaker.
2. One Reverse Matching VIP Preview with a new Matchmaker.
3. Two extra date coaching sessions.
Because of our commitment to service excellence, Three Day Rule has received over 100 ****** reviews in the last two years with 99% 5 Star Rating. We have a great team who truly cares about the work they do for their clients. We would love to continue the search for this client and are happy to connect further.Customer response

I paid 5950$ on Nov 14th. I got bad very experience with Three Day Rule. They shared 3 matches who have nothing to do with our preferences, In fact they were smelling bad and could be even staged for some cash. This company is cheating everyone and it is sad that we are not able to do anything. I am trying to reach them but they have stopped responding. I am looking at legal options to get refund.Business response

We are working with this client currently to come to a resolution and are committed to ensuring she has a positive experience. We reached out immediately to communicate with her, talk through her feedback, and move forward with matching her successfully. This client still has time on her contract and we are excited to find her matches that are a great fit for her.
Our process is iterative. Based on the feedback we receive, we refine our search. We are dedicated to finding great matches for this client and are in contact with her now to recalibrate and make this process successful and positive for her.
We care deeply about our clients and are excited to continue matching her!Initial Complaint

Dates of service: 15 Aug 15 Nov. Paid $6,000 for a 3-month service. False advertising, especially via an article on their service: *********************************************************************************************. Took 2 months for the 1st matchmaker to provide any matches. With such a high price point I expected a more thorough vetting of potential matches & higher quality matches. Although I did receive 8 matches, which is more than the service is contractually obligated to provide, the matches ranged from poor to absolutely terrible (one match had my #1 deal breaker). Only 1 was my type physically, which is confusing as I provided pictures of my previous boyfriends/men Ive dated, & none were compatible with me in regard to personality/interests. The men themselves obviously agreed, as 3 out of the 4 I went on a date with didnt want to see me for a 2nd date either. Also troubling to me was the fact that most of the matches were people Ive seen on the dating apps. The main reason I signed up is because of the Politico article; the article is very misleading. It describes how matchmakers will not only seek out potential soulmates with your exact criteria in mind but will do the sort of investigative work that, coming from you, would seem invasive and creepy trawling LinkedIn for singles with degrees from prestigious universities, or NextDoor for homeowners in affluent zip codes, or LegiStorm for Congressional staffers bios, salaries and contact information. Considering the matches provided, I wouldnt say my exact criteria was in mind nor did it seem like any investigative work was done. Again, most of my matches were just on Hinge. The article also mentions about a quarter of TDRs clientele arevery elite, high-profile power players in the **** scene. Thats the sort of man I was looking for, but was never matched with. They take 100% of the clients money upfront leaving no incentive for matchmakers to do more than the bare minimum. Scam.Business response

We are currently in touch with this client to find a solution and are waiting on her response. We believe strongly in our process and are disappointed that she came away from the experience feeling this way. We were extremely excited to work with her and felt very confident in our ability to work together and present great matches. After this client expressed disinterest in matches, our client experience team connected with her to hear her feedback and move forward on the same page. We took action to switch her Matchmaker and provide two more matches who she met and felt were much more aligned to what she was looking for. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a second date and they ultimately were not interested in going out again. We understand that is a normal part of the dating process and we still continued to send her additional matches to make sure she got the service she paid for - we want her to be excited and happy with her matches!
Our Matchmakers are experienced and genuinely care about their clients. They are incentivized to make the best matches possible. We start our search within our network (people who have joined in a variety of ways: referrals and word of mouth, press, social media, etc) and we are continuously recruiting for our clients and their preferences. This means our database is always growing and expanding to meet our clients needs. Most people have tried or are currently doing online dating, but we are able to go deeper and vet for those deeper qualities and values that make a great partner. Matchmaking is a nuanced process that can take time and involves multiple aspects of vetting including the important criteria the client is looking for such as values, a lifestyle match, mutual interest, and the Matchmakers intuition. We are sorry to hear this client did not feel the matches were ultimately a fit. We worked to adjust and continue to send her matches that align including multiple more matches in December.
Again, we are sorry to hear how she feels about the experience and would love to connect with her further and resolve this.Customer response

This client signed up for a three month, three match membership. During the course of her package, she went on three dates and was sent 6 additional matches outside of the guaranteed three. When she spoke to our Client Experience team and we learned that her experience with her first Matchmaker and the timing on her matches was not ideal, we immediately paired her with a new Matchmaker who she felt aligned with and who sent her four matches. We cant guarantee second dates or chemistry, but we do stand behind the work we did on her behalf.
We have a no-refund contract, but we care deeply about the experience of our clients. Our Founder reached out to offer a call and discuss her feedback, however this client was not interested in connecting. Again, we are sorry to hear how she feels about the experience and would love to connect with her further to discuss her feedback.Customer response

I've tried several times to get adequate resolve from the business but still feel misled and it's the principal of it that matters to me. I signed up for the service after just moving from ** to ******, before I paid for the service I had a call with them where I VERY clearly said -- "I would hate to get to the end of this and find out you don't have any ****** matches" -- the whole point of this was meeting dates in a new city, I had lived in ** for 5 years and had plenty of dates there. They said "we can assure you that won't be an issue". we agreed that ** was ok ONLY for bonus matches. Why would I pay for a service to be matched with people outside the city I just moved to? It doesn't make sense. Long story short, we got to the end of the contract and not only had I been provided NO ****** matches but the ones I was provided with in ** were past clients (so no effort to search for new people as I was told they would do) and repeatedly had the same dealbreaker -- drug use. I was given a partial refund and told they would make an effort to introduce me to ****** matches. It's been almost 2 years I think and I haven't heard from them with any matches whatsoever. I reached out a couple times and was told they're making an effort and still building their ****** network -- but if they STILL don't have ****** people then they must not have had any when i signed up. Meanwhile I see them on yelp claiming they have extensive networks in a bunch of cities so I'm not sure if they're misleading others. I didn't want it to get to this point but on principal I'd appreciate this be fully refunded as I never would have signed anything if I knew they were also misleading me on saying they'd make an effort to introduce me to ****** people after the partial refund.Business response

We are saddened to hear that this client felt misled, but we stand behind the work that was done on her behalf. At the time of her sign on (in February 2021 for a one-month, one match membership) it was made clear that ****** is outside of our active regions and we dont have a large network there. We said we would do our best to additionally recruit in ******, but she would need to be open to one of our active regions. She agreed to this and was open to multiple other areas, otherwise we would not have agreed to work together. This was communicated over email and the phone.
In the course of her one-match contract, she was sent five potential matches. We always start our search within our network which includes our database and former clients. There also was (and continues to be) recruiting done for her in the ****** area from our Matchmakers in ******** and our Founder.
When were matching clients, we ensure that we vet for must-haves and dealbreakers and would never intentionally match our clients with someone who has one of their dealbreakers. Our goal is the same as theirs: to find the right fit!
We are happy to continue to keep her in mind and we have made successful matches even after a contract is over. While there is no guarantee well match former clients outside of their contract, we always send along bonus matches if we can. This client is no exception and we will continue to keep her on our radar.
We have been in contact with this client since working together and are sorry there seems to be a miscommunication here. We have reached back out to find a resolution currently as well.Customer response

It has been nearly a year since I signed up with TDR on November 10, 2021. I made it abundantly clear that I was looking for African American men for my matches. I confirmed with *************************, a Sales rep with TDR, before signing the contract that they had men that matched my requirements of being African American. She assured me they had plenty of matches to meet this requirement.I purchased their matchmaking service, which was $5,400 for three months. After I signed up, there were numerous requests from ***** about my payment. She claimed that they did not receive my second payment. I had to show the payment receipt, and she suggested that perhaps I should check with my bank because they did not receive the payment on their end. I had one date and the promise of many more matches. The other matches did not meet my criteria, or I was not attracted to them. One was culturally insensitive, and *******************************, Client Experience Manager, suggested that perhaps I should have educated him about why he was being culturally insensitive. I had become highly dissatisfied and reached out to *************************. She said she would put me in touch with *******************************; a Client Experience Manage with TDR. ******'s tone from the start was hostile and an attempt at intimidation. I was the problem, not their matches. ****** even suggested I revise my preferences or go to Zoom dating matches out of my geographical area. Because I found her way of handling my request for the refund in such a hostile manner, I reached out to *****************************, the founder, to express my concern. I received no response.I am requesting a refund of $4,050, 75% of the fee.Business response

We are currently in touch with this client to find a resolution. We were so excited to work with her and are disappointed to hear this was how the process felt to her. We value being partners to our clients in their dating journey and always want them to feel we are on their side, including if they are sharing any concerns with our team. We appreciate her feedback and our Founder did respond to her message the very next day, unfortunately the client didnt see the email at the time and we didn't hear back. As soon as we realized this, they connected and chatted directly about her feelings. Each of our searches is individual and based on unique preferences and it is very important to us that the matches we present fulfill the preferences of the client. While we encourage our clients to be open-minded, we prioritize honoring the must-haves and deal-breakers that they've come to us with. We definitely wanted her to feel we are a part of her team and that her preferences and communication were understood - we are sad to hear there was a disconnect. Matchmaking is a nuanced process that involves both the Matchmakers intuition as well as the information we gain from our meetings with potential matches and feedback from the client, and we take all of this into account when matching our clients. We are having conversations now to resolve it with her and we wish her the very best!Customer response

The matches provided by Three Day Rule were beyond inadequate and failed to meet most requirements that I had specified. I was not matched with other individuals based on my wants and needs - rather I was matched according to my matchmakers arbitrary choices and intuition. TDR does not consistently add millennial aged individuals into their database. I received recycled matches (who were sometimes rejected by previous TDR clients) from their very limited pool of potential millennial matches. Each of my matches were individuals that my matchmaker had met prior to the pandemic (most of them added to TDRs dating pool in 2019 or earlier), and none of them met all of my required criteria, nor were they all informed of my sexual orientation. Some matches did not align with me politically or in their opinions regarding religion (which I noted were important to me). I had income requirements for matches, and TDR disregarded these preferences.I also received vague information for matches in bios that did not accurately reflect their current occupations. Some of my matches were not informed of my correct age.The existing millennial-aged matches in their database did not meet all of my required criteria, yet they did not go out into the community to find a new match that met all of my requirements. Instead I was encouraged to revise my preferences (i.e. lower my standards) or pushed to pursue mediocre matches.Business response

We have worked directly with this client to address their concerns and come to a resolution.
Each search is individual and based on unique preferences and it is important to us that the matches we present fulfill the preferences of the client (including must haves and deal breakers). We start our search in our database where matches may have come and gone throughout the years as they go through their own dating journey.
We are also constantly adding new singles of all demographics to our large nationwide database and millennials make up one of our biggest demographics. We also have a team of recruiters who are continuously recruiting new relationship-minded singles into our network.
Matchmaking is a nuanced process that involves both the Matchmakers intuition as well as the information we gain from our meetings with potential matches and feedback from the client. We always strive to present both our matches and clients authentically to facilitate the best matches. We have discussed the individual circumstances with this client and are sad to hear she felt this way about her experience.
We have communicated directly with this client and have come to a resolution to part ways amicably. We wish her the very best.Customer response
