I don’t even know where to begin with this review. I have been using Pine Forest Animal Clinic for many, many years. Last year I was shocked to find out that my dogs tested positive for heart worms. I have had them since they were puppies and they have been on heartworm prevention every month since that time. Come to find out I had gotten counterfeit or defective heartworm prevention from Sam’s pharmacy. But that’s another story… The day I found out they were heartworm positive I was devastated and completely shocked because they have been on preventative their entire life. The vet told me I had two choices The “slow” kill method which is where they do a month of antibiotics (Doxy) every other month for an entire year and then retest at the end of the year to see if they are still positive. The other method is “fast kill” which is where they are basically on bedrest for 60 days. They are kept confined in a kennel and only let out on a leash to go to the bathroom and then put right back in the kennel. Two of the workers there that I have known for a long time and completely trust came out to my car and told me that they would recommend the Slow kill method since my dogs were considered seniors and one of them has a lot of health issues anyway with arthritis. So I started the year journey of the slow kill. Here we are a year later I take them back in to get retested. My one dog still comes up heartworm positive after having to shove medicine down his throat twice a day for 180 days…yes you read that right 180 days I had to do this twice a day for both dogs. This is where the frustration comes in, when I talked to the vet about how my dog is still positive he told me there was no such thing as a slow kill method and they just do fast kill. I asked why would you prescribe me medicine to pick up every other month for them if there’s no such thing?? Then he went back and said he used to work for the pound or shelter and that they did slow kill but that was before fast kill came out. Well now I was really confused with the way he kept flip-flopping and going back-and-forth, so then he just transferred me over to the front desk to pay for the visit. Then I talked to the front desk girl, I told her I was very frustrated because her and the other girl had talked to me the year prior and told me they recommended the slow kill and now the vet is saying there’s no such thing as slow kill. She says yes there is, we have tons of patients on it, I don’t know why he would tell you that. So by this point I’m very frustrated because I keep getting told different things and I was out in my car having this phone conversation. So I told them I was coming inside to talk to him and the front desk girl in person. When I go in, the vet comes into the room and I told him I would like the front desk girl in there also so we can get this straightened out. He then tells me she walked out and will not be coming into the room, so I’m not sure if that meant she quit or she just walked out and refused to come in there. Since the doctor had already been so wishy-washy over the phone I recorded the conversation. so now I have a 22 minute phone conversation where he constantly contradicts himself, does not take ownership for anything that happened. So here’s where the ownership part comes in, in 2019 somehow they didn’t test my one dog for heart worms. So he may have been heartworm positive for two years instead of one like we think. I only found this out because when we talked to the manufacturing company about reimbursing us for the treatment they said they could only do it for one dog and not the other one. They said they can’t do it for The other dog because there was no test in the year prior. So basically the vet didn’t even test my dog to make sure he wasn’t heartworm positive but called in the Heart Worm preventative which I’m pretty sure is illegal. So this week I’ve been trying to get a hold of him multiple times because when I asked him about that last week he said he didn’t understand all the records and it’s all confusing to him and he would have to wait until the other girl, who was on vacation came back. He finally called back today and again refused to take ownership for everything, then tried to blame it on me as to why my other dog didn’t get tested and he said well from what I understand you were going through a personal issue and had money issues and so they called it in as a favor for me. I assume he was referring to my divorce but that’s funny because my divorce was in 2017 and the lack of testing at their clinic was in 2019. I told him why would I take one dog in for testing and not the other??? I ALWAYS bring them in at the same time. So I’m writing this review just to let you know do not do business here, he is a quack! He seems to be the type that could literally stab your dog in front of you and still deny it. I’ll be more than happy to share the recorded conversation I have for anyone who wants to verify or check this review. DO NOT GO HERE!
