Ron ***** of Specialty Contractors, Inc. told me in person on April 14, 2021 that he would contact Shaw Flooring (the company used for the laminate flooring) and start the very long process of creating a claim with them. He stated that the claim would not be resolved before the date we purchased (closed on) the house however he gave me his word that he would re-do the laminate flooring. On April 14, 2021 Ron also stated that he would resolve the issues with the bathroom tiles. Several other Specialty Contractors workers came to the house with Ron and one of them stated that by looking at the poor quality of the laminate floor job you could tell Trey had done it and he also stated that the bathroom tiles should never have been grouted indicating that they should have instead been caulked. The worker alluded to Trey having done other poor-quality jobs as well for other customers. There are now about 17 subway tiles that have vertical cracks in them. On September 17, 2021 Ron sent me a text stating that he would resolve the tile issues. No one from Specialty Contractors has been out or contact me and neither the flooring nor the tile problems have been resolved. Attached to this claim is a very detailed outline of all text messages sent to Ron, an email sent to the Owner ******* *****, a conversation with a Shaw Flooring representative, other action I have taken to try and resolve the issues, and some images to better illustrate what I am talking about. Ron ***** with Specialty Contractors gave me his word that the issues would be resolved and so far, he has lied to me because none of the issues have been resolved.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/02/14) */ Ms. ******* was not our customer. She purchased the home from our customer. Our warranties do not transfer from the original homeowner. Ron did contact the manufacturer on behalf of Ms. *******. Shaw sent back notification that it was declined because their warranty does not transfer to new ownership. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/02/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) If I am not Mr. Ron *****'s customer then why did Mr. ***** tell ME on April 14, 2021 that he would get with Shaw Floors, that this process would go beyond our closing date on the house BUT HE WOULD MAKE IT RIGHT? Why did he tell ME that he would fix the grout/tile? If I am not his customer then why didn't he speak ONLY with the owner who was selling the house? Why didn't Mr. ***** tell me on April 14, 2021 that I was not his customer and that he could not speak with me about these issues? Why did he talk to ME and reassure ME that he would make these things right if I wasn't his customer? Why did he get MY direct cell number and tell ME that he would be in direct contact with ME, the one purchasing the home, going forward, instead of the current homeowner regarding these issues? Why did Mr. ***** text me about anything after April 14, 2021 if I was not his customer? Why did Mr. ***** schedule someone to come out on April 16, 2021 to fix the grout/tile but no one ever showed up? He even acknowledged that someone should have been there saying, "I thought he'd already would have been there. Calling now to check will let you know shortly," only to never get back with me. I told Mr. ***** that my husband and I were buying the house and the closing date as well so that he was fully aware and he acknowledged that the flooring and grout/tile issues may not be fixed until after the closing date but that they WOULD be fixed. Mr. ***** never mentioned anything about a warranty or that the closing date was an issue. If Mr. *****'s wife were in my shoes buying a home that had a botched job done by a Contractor, and the Contractor looked her in the eyes and told her that he would "make things right" and be in direct contact with only her, would she believe the Contractor to do what he said or would she assume the Contractor to be a liar? Given the fact that USAA suggested Specialty Contractors I felt like I could trust them to be reputable, honest, have integrity, and do what they say. This wasn't a company that someone randomly chose, this was a company that had been specifically vetted and promoted. Why didn't Mr. ***** tell me that he would only make the flooring right IF (contingent upon) Shaw covered it under their warranty? Why did Mr. ***** never mention a warranty? Does he not know his own business? When did he find out about the warranty? Did Mr. ***** know all along that there was a warranty that would not transfer and so he was just buying his time so he could just walk away and not resolve any of this? The issue is simple: I trusted Mr. ***** and I believed that he would be a man of his word and do what he said, make the flooring and grout/tile right, and Mr. ***** has lied and chosen to not take responsibility for his words. I have been lied to, taken advantage of, and left with a mess by Mr. ***** and Specialty Contractors. The Owner of Specialty Contractors has also never reached out to me, not once, to discuss these issues. Everyone should be warned about how this company chooses to do business by lying to people. I will NEVER recommend Specialty Contractors to anyone and I will warn others about doing business with them.
