I had a car accident on 02/10/2024 which was not my fault. I contracted Angel Reyes services. After argues with insurance company ( ***********) , they said I had 30 % fault... Which is not true. The ********************* adjuster admitted was not my fault when he saw the pictures and is recorded. I sent the video to ******. They should sue the insurance company in my behalf. This law firm seems to like easy money and they settled the case without my approval for 70% ... To make the long story short, I signed the release on Nov. 20, 2024 after receiving the final itemization with a remaining of $2641.00 in my favor. As of today, Feb. 5, 2025, I had not received my money. Every time I call them , they say a different STORY. PROGRESSIVE sent them a check for $30,055.00. I think I had been robbed.Customer Answer

This is not the first time the business says that. Because this had taken so much time, they also ignored your BBB previous communications, I filed a complaint against the business with The State of Texas. Thanks,

I was rear-ended in an accident and called different attorneys to seek representation. I was unsure about whether to retain an attorney at this time. I decided to go with Reyes and Associates, however, during that time was unsure of whether to continue. After many of my texts and calls went unanswered and I was turned away from a doctors office for an evaluation, I sent a text message and sent an email asking to be released and to end my representation, I called several times throughout the day as it was unusual for them not to respond right away in the beginning. I called several times and was told that someone would call me back. This was on a Thursday. I called back again on Friday and still no one responded by Friday late afternoon I spoke to a person at the call center, and they said the paralegal handling my case would not be back in the office until the following week, and that she would return my call on Monday, I never received a call, I sent them several text messages when I was finally called back, an office manager/paralegal for the law firm asked me to reconsider and that I would not be charged anything or there would be no strings attached if I changed my mind and decided not to continue with my case. That same night, after much consideration I sent them an email to request for a letter of termination that I no longer wanted legal representation. I had to call back again and finally, one of their lawyers called me back and said the only way I could get a letter of termination is with a lien. I disagreed, and I told the lawyer that I felt it was shady to do that, and that I was told by the paralegal who was handling my case that if I decided not to continue my case that there would be no strings attached.Customer Answer

I reason to believe that ******************** and *********************** at Reyes&Brown Lawfirm are abusing me and making mockery of my most vulnerable state being homeless and without a vehicle in *****, when in truth they are supposed to represent me and defend my best interest with my current insurance claim. My original phone number ************ is block on their server/network and I am not able to msg them. and upon calling to get an update ********************** keeps on pretending that her phone is not working. And as for ************** I haven't heard from him in a while. My file was supposed to go thru "Verification" at their firm, and then the attorney's demand was supposed to have been sent to Progressive ( the other driver who hit me and total my vehicle). But each time I've called to get an update, (In past ***************************) and now **************************************** keep promising to get the demand sent, still, it keeps on being postpone.I am under the impression that someone or something has Attorney ************************************* (***************************) to purposely delay the whole process pertaining my case from being resolved.Business Response

The Lawyers here are extremely rude. ***** in particular cannot reply to my simple question about the funds and its whereabouts and how its decided. They ***** you in documents (as a client) and leave you with nothing. I asked them for an explanation of my funds and they told me I only get 15% they also told me that its in the contract. When i asked again for further proof and saying it doesn't make sense they told me oh its not in the contract but what we have decided. These guys are straight scammers and all there ****** reviews are fake. All i have asked repeatedly is a explanation of where is my 66%. They have been telling me to come to their office so they can try to threaten me.Business Response

Per our contract, our fees we take when a case such as ******************** goes to mediation and is settled, is 45% of the gross settlement. Our intake team outlines this with every new client that we speak to before they sign the contract.
However, instead of taking 45% in this instance, we reduced our fees to *****% of the gross settlement amount to aid in paying for the medical bills, expenses, and getting a little more money in a final check to be made to *****************
From there, the remainder of the funds are allocated to the case expenses and medical bills derived from ******************** car accident injury case. **************** had a very high amount of medical bills from this car wreck he had the misfortune to be involved in. We were able to get reductions on the medical bills for **************** of over 50% of the original total bill being charged from the first class treatment facilities **************** treated with during his recovery period following the accident. Between the medical bills being covered without any debt owed by ****************, the case expenses, **************** is to receive a check over $10,500 and no debt from his car accident we helped him with in this case. We can also state that we were able to exhaust the totality of the policy limits of the 3rd party insurance provider and were able to receive additional funds from the 1st party policy to aid in taking care of the totality of the medical bills and case expenses.
The above mentioned allocation allotment is what we are trying to convey to **************** in person. Not to intimidate or threaten him. We care for our clients as if they were our family and we work tirelessly on his case to ensure they have the best medical treatment, have it paid for by the negligent party, receive no debt incurred from their accident, and receives some extra funds in their pockets for their troubles of dealing with the hassles derived from the accident.Initial Complaint

On October 16th of this year, my 2 kids and I were involved in our first ever Motor Vehicle Accident. Within 6 hours I called this firm to represent me. I told the intake gentleman EXACTLY what happened INCLUDING that I was wrongly cited as at fault for the accident. They immediately agreed to represent me and my kids and told me they would first need to set up our treatment and get us into THEIR doctors. He made me sign contracts while on the phone with him and was very pushy about it -but no big deal I just knew we needed to be represented. He told me someone would call the next day to get us treatment. When my kids schools called and told me I needed to get them checked for concussions I tried calling the firm but the woman who answered said someone would call me back. I waited over an hour and needed instead to take my kids to the ER. Two women later called about where we should go, scolded me for going to the ER, but did not actually tell us where to go for treatment and both said they would call back but never called back. Then a man named ****** called and said he was the attorney, left a message, and I tried to call him back all day but never got a response. Then a woman named ******* called me and told me they decided they could not represent ME since I was at fault (after already agreeing to represent me) but said they could represent my kids and go after MY insurance if I wanted. BUT, I did NOT want this. The next morning ****** called again, did NOT even know about ******** call, and when I informed him of her call and that I had questions but was literally getting blood drawn at that moment, and asked could I call him back in 5 minutes, he said yes. I called back, he did not answer and did not return my call. So far, I have not talked to the same person twice, and I cannot get a hold of anyone on my supposed "team" for the answers to my questions. I've since requested letters of disengagement multiple times and no one will even return my call.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2022/12/15) */ The firm acquired the case the day it happened. We made multiple attempts to ensure she was contacted within the span of the 3 days that we represented her. The people in which she spoke to was our front desk receptionist, our attorney who she refers to as ****** and her paralegal ******** When we discovered the police report had put her at fault for the accident, the evidence showed she was indeed at fault and there were no witnesses to overturn the evidence, we asked her if she would be willing to still allow her children to receive treatment as our client's overall health and wellness is our number one priority and they had an Avenue of recovery through her own insurance due to her being at fault and maintaining liability insurance on her vehicle, Ms. ****** Was given the option to sign a waiver that would allow us to pursue a claim against her insurance coverage for her children's health and she refused to use her own insurance as she did not want to have her insurance paying for her children's healthcare following the incident. We then had an internal discussion and made the decision to drop all parties in the case from our representation and are not maintaining a Lien on her case. She was notified she has 2 years before the statute of limitations runs out on her case. She was also given a letter notifying her we would be withdrawing from her case.Initial Complaint

I was Scammed out of $28000 by Reyes & Reyes Law firm. I hired them to settle my accident case in 2019. Today is August 5th 2022 and I received a letter from them stating I was not getting any money back. The law firm paid themselves and gave me nothing.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/08/23) */ Ms. ********' case was a longer case due to the fact we needed to file a lawsuit on the case. Lawsuits inevitably take longer to see a result from and per our contract our attorneys fees go up to 40% of the gross settlement amount. Ms. ******** was made aware of this upon signing our contract and was informed some cases can last quite a long time in some instances. We settled her case just short of policy limits. There was not any additional money on the table to recover on her behalf following her accident. Case settled for $28,000 following a lawsuit being filed. We reduced her medical bills and liens and paid them off for her, reduced our standard 40% fees to 34% and Ms. ******** will be getting a check of $4,000. (in total we will be giving her $4,500 as we already gave her a loan for $500 before the case settled. Ms. ******** has also signed a release stating she was willing to accept the final amount. This was always the plan of what we were going to do for her given the circumstances that her medical bills needed to be paid and unfortunately the adverse insurance company did not have any additional funds in the policy of the driver who was negligent in hitting her.
