    Suggested tip on receipt is calculated higher than it should be, which can be misleading. Although it clearly indicated that "tip percentages are based on the check price BEFORE taxes", the suggested tip is actually calculated incorrectly and is close to the value calculated based on the check price AFTER taxes.

    Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/09/30) */ The tips suggested on our guest checks are calculated on the pre-tax value of all food and beverage before any discounts are applied. If the complainant had any discounts (coupons, specials, etc.), please know the calculated tip suggestions are based on the regular price of any item(s) that were discounted. Further, the only instances when gratuity is automatically calculated and added to a guest check are when it is for a large group. Gratuities are calculated on the value of food and beverages only. The value used in the calculation is before any discounts are taken. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/10/03) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) No discount was used. The way the suggested tip was calculated was simply wrong and deceiving.
