The day this situation happened was December 12, 2024 a little after 1pm while I was at work when got the notification on my phone stated the vehicle was being moved, but never took any action due to reasonably thinking that was just another safety feature my vehicle had. Before I got the notification, I had recently gone out to the vehicle around 12pm that day when I went on my 30min lunch and of course left the vehicle around 12:25pm which gave me approximately 5min to get back inside to my workstation. Moving forward when I got out of work that day around 4:30pm walking out to the car it was gone, not sure what happened to the vehicle having to contact Dallas police department two times to get a number and website specifying the vehicle was towed from the parking lot in downtown. After several times trying to contact the towing company, contacting the storage unit Peak Auto Storage, LLC located ********************************************************** I was unable to get a response and having to contact a family member to come pick me up and take me to the location where I was able to find the vehicle having to pay $175.58. I later then contacted ***** customer service to file a dispute against the charge due to the company not cooperating and after 20 business days ***** then responded, denied the claim.Initial Complaint

I am writing to dispute the $22.85 storage fee that was charged to me when I arrived at your facility to retrieve my vehicle on Friday night, November 22nd, 2024. My car was towed at 10:46pm. I found out my car was towed at 11:07pm. and immediately drove 20 minutes to your facility and arrived before my vehicle did. When I entered the facility, I was informed by the staff that my car had not yet arrived. An eyewitness can confirm that I was physically present at the storage location prior to my cars arrival. Despite this, I was still charged for a whole day's worth of ************************* car was on the lot for less than 10 minutes while the staff processed the necessary paperwork. Since I arrived before the car and the storage period was so brief, I believe the entire storage fee should be refunded. However, if this is not acceptable by law or industry standards, I respectfully request that the fee be prorated based on the very short time my vehicle was actually on the lot. The fact that I was present before my car and that it was on the lot for a minimal amount of time while paperwork was processed makes the full fee seem unreasonable.I trust that you will review this matter fairly and provide a resolution that reflects the minimal time my vehicle was actually stored at your facility.Thank you for your attention to this issue, and I look forward to your *************** calculate the prorated charge for 10 minutes based on a $22.85 fee for 24 hours:Divide the full fee by 24 hours:$22.85 24 = $0.952 per hour.Convert 10 minutes into hours:10 minutes 60 = ****** hours.Multiply the hourly rate by ****** hours:$0.952 ****** = $*******, the prorated charge for 10 minutes would be approximately $0.16.Business Response

Unfortunately, that is not how the storage charges work they charge per day not hour or minutes. The vehicle will be charged from the time it arrives to the time it is picked same storage unless it goes over the 12h **** or the 24hour ****.Initial Complaint

I live at the ****** and registered my vehicle when I first moved here. In August, the apartment required that we register again because SWATs system changed. I wasnt able to login because it stated my credentials werent valid. I sent the screenshot to the ****** and received an email saying that the system was down. I kept trying for weeks but believed that the system was still down. Today, 10/7/ 24 my car was towed. I called to see why and was told that I didnt register. I sent screenshots showing that I did and the person with SWAT discovered the wrong number was listed and then told me it was my responsibility to have had it corrected. I did not know the ****** put the wrong number which was the reason I couldnt register! The ****** even called them and told them it was not my fault yet SWAT is still charging me $300 to get my car back. This is ridiculous! This was clearly not my fault yet Im being charged.Business Response

The vehicle was not registered at the time of tow, the customer stated to us that she sent an email to the complex and never followed up on the information nor did she follow up with us to ensure she was registered correctly. She also stated she forgot about the email she sent to the complex and did not remember to follow up. When she called us to see why she was not registered we helped her correct the information to make sure she was able to register her vehicle. She only reached out to us once her vehicle was towed at that time we could not release it as it was not registered in the system. We explained to her that it was her responsibility as a tenant to have followed up on her email or reached out to us before the towing began to being enforced. We were informed by the complex that multiple emails were sent out to all tenants to ensure their vehicles were registered. We are available to all tenants who reach out to us for help. If customer does not reach out for help prior to the towing we are limited on the help we can give as the vehicle has already been towed.Initial Complaint

I am not the storage facility the complaint would have to be directed to the storage facility directly. As I can not speak on the storage and the pricing. Let me know what facility you went to pick up the vehicle. You can provide me with the invoice number or the vehicle information and apartment complex it was towed from so I can further assist on the tow complaint.Initial Complaint

My car was towed from a business in the city of ********** which is about 15mins from this tow company yet I had to pay $321.47 because the vehicle was not towed within dallas. This does not make any sense, the lady at the tow company told me at first it would cost $175 but then she seen where my car was towed from and told me it will be $321 because the car was towed from **********. Also on the statement it shows my car was in storage for one day and it was not, it had only been about 30mins that my car was towed. This place is a scam and the people they have a contract with are also scamming people who park at The *********************** in **********,*****. Whoever has a contract with this company is scamming people , this company knows it is a scam but they continue to take peoples money. If you do a ****** search for both companies you will see how they have scammed people out of money. I want to take legal action on this business and the Shopping strip they are in contract with.Business Response

The vehicle was towed from ********** the tow fee is 272 plus the storage, impound fee, and taxes which is the correct fee. The Dallas fee is different as it is 121 for the tow fee plus the additional charges. They are different and you were charged correct. The business we tow from is not the same as the banquet each business has the right to chose a tow company as a vendor. If the business does not want unauthorized vehicles parking on their lot they have the right as they are private property. The storage does not charge by the minute, they charge by the day. For instance if your car was there 5 minutes or 5 hours it would have been the same. The price would have been the same for the first 24h now if it was left over 24h then it would have additional charges. Those charges would have to be given by the storage as I do not work for them. When we get disputes I always give the customers as much information as I able to. Again, I can not speak on what the storage said or did wrong. You can file a separate complaint with the storage as I can not answer for them or anyway state anything for them. You can always send any complaints to us directly to ********************************Initial Complaint

My car was wrongfully towed in The tides on ********* when i brought the problem to the office manager attention she agreed that it was wrongfully towed. When I went to go get the car from the pound the lady in the window was laughing when I was talking about the situation and I also showed her proof but she justed ignored it as if it didnt matter. I was forced to pay the $170 even though I had proof that it was wrongfully towed and the office manager called them and told them they wrongfully towed it . On 7/24/2004 I went to Peak auto storage to retrieve my car. I payed but the tow trucks were not available. I waited about two hours because I was told by employee that one would come they never did. I later learned that their policy states they don't take money unless a tow truck is present. So I don't understand why they took my money.Customer Answer

I can relay the message to peak auto storage I can provide you with their emails. I am not an employee of peak auto storage. I work for southwest auto tow and we would not charge anyone cash. We charge through square and only if we have a driver that has confirmed a tow. They would pay through an invoice and both parties would have a copy of the invoice.
Do they have vehicle information or a representative name that I can pass over to the correct department.
Here is the information for the following storages.

Once I emailed them and I emailed them almost the same thing as here they got back to me and just simply said it was not on parking spot . Ive had my truck parked there multiple times never been taken until now . I called the apartment management they told me it was indeed not on a parking space , but the paper work they gave my boyfriend when he signed lease does not show that . On Friday 7/19 at 2:45am my car was impounded for no insurance at Peak Auto Storage. My wife and son went to pick the car up later that day around 5:59 and while going to get the car they noticed the car right front tire was folded up under the car and the tire rod was completely snapped in half. Also the strut on the passenger side was damaged as well, along with the center console of the car. We went back to the office and they said I needed to contact the tow truck company who brought the car in and when contacting them they sent me many images of the car when it was picked up and when it was dropped off. There was no damage done at this time, So when I explained this to the Peak Auto Storage employees and requested video of my car being moved by their driver, they told me they were not obligated to do so. I was also told be the employee that after my car was dropped there by the tow truck driver, they never touch my car again which was not true. So after they realized I was contacting the authorities they said to come back in Monday and the manager will be in to give me video footage of my car being moved. When arriving Monday 7/22 I was told the manager is not there and I would have to send an email and wait until the manager gets back to me about my claims of damage by them. This has been a huge inconvenience and I am missing work behind not having my car.Business Response
