In January 2025, BBB identified a pattern in consumer complaints regarding the marketplace behavior of the company Smart FBA. Specifically, BBB received complaints alleging:
• Refund Issues: Many consumers reported difficulties in obtaining refunds for their investments and inventory purchases.
• Service and Communication Problems: Numerous complaints highlighted poor customer service and lack of communication. Consumers frequently mentioned that their inquiries and complaints were ignored, and they received vague or no responses from customer service representatives.
• Misleading Advertising and Sales Practices: Several consumers felt misled by the business's advertising and sales pitches. They reported that the business made false claims about potential profits, the quality of inventory, and the overall success of the business model.
• Inventory and Product Issues: Complaints often involved issues with inventory, such as receiving counterfeit or low-quality products, delays in inventory delivery, and problems with product authenticity. Some consumers also reported that their Amazon accounts were deactivated due to issues with the sourced inventory.
• Contract and Performance Issues: Many consumers expressed concerns about the business not fulfilling contractual obligations. This included failing to provide promised services, not delivering on agreed-upon business models, and not achieving the advertised performance metrics.
On January 21, 2025, BBB sent postal mail and email correspondence to Smart FBA encouraging the company to respond to their current, unanswered complaints on file, as well as address the noted pattern of complaints.
On March 31, 2025, the company notified BBB via phone call stating the owner of the company was filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy. As of that date, BBB has not been able to verify a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing for Smart FBA.
