Today I received the largest electric bill in my life, and I am 70. The bill was $466, about 3 months worth off electric service . I called BKV energy to find out why, that a mistake must have been made. The lady on the phone told me my contract had expired 3 months ago. She claimed they sent me an email I told her she was wrong I received no emails, and now I understand why my monthly bills had doubed and tripled. It wasn't until I got this new bill that I contacted them. I thought well its just another raise in the cost of living, was I ever wrong. The lady told me once a contract expires they can charge anything. I am not sure about the law, but it seems to me they should write a letter or call the customer, they did nothing. I told her I was on SS, she said we can set you up a payment plan for three months, but you must agree to stay with our company until you pay this bill. Right these people cheated me out of $300, and I am going to agree to do what they ask. I contacted the office of public utility and made a complant. I think ,this company will rip off anyone, and when your a senior and get a bill like this , you have to decide do I eat, get my meds, or what? I signed with another company and start tomorrow, I do not pay a deposit because my credit rating is 850, yes 850. I pay my bills, I will avoid paying this one, but in the end I suspect I will have to pay.

I had to pay a deposit, which was expected. What I did not expect was for BKV to blatantly lie to me about when my deposit refund check was mailed out. I was told via email, twice that it was mailed out, once on the phone. Lies. I finally got the check. When I emailed them telling them I did not appreciate being lied to, I got silence. No apologies or admitting that they lied. Sleazy company. Stay away.

    *******,

Thank you for reaching out. I have reviewed your account and I am sorry you feel lied to. I see on your account where you requested the refund and the system tried to refund it back to your **** from the initial payment. I see that an agent requested the refund to be initiated by check and was missed by our internal team to process it. This request was then picked up after your email. We have added an alert so that these requests are not missed in the future. I appreciate your note to help us improve our process.

    Thank you,
