On Monday, March 21, 2022, I went online to the PassportWorld, LLC website to schedule an appointment for my passport renewal. The appointment was set for Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:15 am. Within 1.5 hrs., I realized I had a conflict, so I attempted to cancel. The website information stated that the appointment must be cancelled within 12 hours of schedule date/time, otherwise, you are subject to lose your prepaid fee. I attempted to cancel my appointment online, however, the system was not operating. So, I called the office number and spoke with a representative. She did not understand why the system was not working, so she submitted the cancellation request manually. She completed the process, then informed me that the cancellation fee would be 246.00, which was 50 percent of the 492.45 original fee. I complained to her that the fee was exorbitant. I also stated that such a fee percentage should be stated on their website, prior to a schedule request being submitted. In addition, 20.00 of the fee was for a photo which hadn't been taken. I am more than willing to pay a fair and reasonable cancellation fee, but not 50 percent of the fee for services not yet rendered, particularly in light of the fact that I cancelled far in advance of my scheduled appointment.
