I attended The Salon Professional Academy for 7months. I only had 8bweeks left to graduate and I came in last money on March 14 ***************************************************************************************************** to another school. After telling me everything would be fine and they had my best interest in mind. It turns out they took 100 percent of my school funding and I still owed them $750 more dollars to transfer. So as a single mom with no job I was scrambling to come up with the money. She said I had until Wednesday March 16th. And they would be ready for there money and have my paperwork. It is now Monday March 21 and still after 8 phone calls I have heard nothing from them. So basically they took all my funding and threw me out and not taking into consideration that I am a single mother not employed at the time currently because I was supposed to be and have been in school ful time since last September. I am now waiting still on them to provide transcripts to me so I can apply to another school of which my house aren't even transferable. This place is a scam and takes people's money and doesn't provide them with a finished education. Once you hit 50 percent of your hours they kick you out and take there 100 percent of your funding. Now I am in debt $15000 with no education.

The Salon Professional Academy in Georgetown, **. handles all withdrawals by abiding by the Academy Withdrawal and Settlement (Refund) Policy that complies with any mandated state or federal policies for each student. This information is in the Student Handbook and Catalog that is given to all prospects prior to signing Enrollment Agreement.

            Per Complaint:

            1.  Student was unable to abide by policies and procedures and chose to withdraw from program.

            2.  It is the student's sole responsibility to transfer to another institution, not the previous institution.

            3.  Monies that are owed are solely decided by The ************** Refund policy.

            4.  The student received transcripts within the 45-day period when she attended her exit interview and she thanked everyone for helping.

It is unfortunate that ******************** was unable to complete the program.  We have encouraged her and gave her pertinent information that will help her continue her path to become a cosmetologist.  We wish her the best!

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not volunteer to withdraw from the program. They asked me to sign a paper stating that I had to leave during to covid so that they could still get there money.Rhey said it would be easier on me to finish school in my hometown because I had children there. I haven't had covid since January and during the meeting there was nothing said about violating policies at all. They already had all my stuff packed for me when I got to the school that day. I have only been written up one time in regards to where I park at. They wanted me out but wanted to keep the money. They tool ***** from Pell ***** plus ***** in loans I owe. But their Turton is only ******. Plus I had to pay 780 dollars to get my transcripts.  They failed to also say that I would now have to pay out of pocket to attend school anywhere else. I should have had a lawyer present. I have hired an attorney.
            Regards,

            Velicity ********
