Hello, my name is *************************. I was unjustly arrested on 7/29/23. I spent 22 days incarcerated in Hunt County Detention Center before my mother could make it to ***** from ******************* to pay my bond and ensure my release. Upon my release I immediately filed a complaint against the ***************************** the two officers involved in my arrest and requested all media from the incident. I mention this simply to familiarize you with the circumstances leading up to my complaint. I wasn't mistreated while incarcerated, my complaint is that after my release and subsequent complaints and court filings, they dropped all charges and will reimburse the full bond but my mother, who is 65, must come back to ***** to pick it up in person. Please understand that it took everything she had in her to be ble to make it down here to have me released. My uncle and cousin had to take off work to drive her straight here to ***** and then drive right back so they didn't miss another day of work. It took a toll on my mom, she had a very bad ATV wreck about 20 years ago rendering her disabled and in near constant battles with several neurological issues and pelvic pain. Another trip here would be a terrible burden on her that she could take weeks or months to recover from. She has tried everything that she could to have the reimbursed bond released to no avail. She is told that it's just their policy. Now, that is not right. It's not ethical and it should be illegal to force an elderly person to do such a thing. My wife has already called the sheriff's office, detention center, the county clerks office and, just recently has written to different states representatives as well. This conduct needs to be corrected I believe. This is my last recourse because I'm being made to run in circles by my local government and the detention center. The county clerk has never even called back to my knowledge. She paid $750 on 8/23/23 and has yet to receive the refunded bond. Please help
