I'm writing to file a complaint against Discount ***************, *******, *****, for deceptive practices, safety issues, and legal non-compliance in selling me a used vehicle. This experience has burdened me financially and endangered my safety. On February 19, 2024, I agreed to buy a 2014 ****** Camry with ******* miles, presented as a salvage title but allegedly safe and legal. The sale totaled $17,816.03, with $2,940 paid upfront. Immediately, I noticed issues, indicating it wasn't in promised condition. Despite assurances and multiple repair attempts, the process dragged until March 6, when I finally retrieved the car after significant delays and was provided a loaner. Upon receiving my car, I had it independently inspected, only to discover it failed due to tampering by the dealership to pass state inspection deceitfully. Error codes were overwritten, sensors removed, airbags missing, and CV axles defective. When confronted, the dealership defaulted to an "AS IS NO WARRANTY" stance, a tactic I've since learned is common for them to evade accountability for unethical actions. Discount *************** sold me a vehicle unfit by Texas law for salvaged titles, engaging in deceptive practices to hide its deficiencies. This has left me in considerable debt for an unsafe and potentially illegal vehicle. I urge the BBB to investigate these practices for the sake of accountability and to prevent future consumer harm. I am ready to provide further documentation as needed.Timeline: Feb 19, 2024: Chose to purchase the Camry, paid $2,940 of $17,816.03. Feb 20, 2024: Notified repairs incomplete; told to return later. Feb 28, 2024: Returned for repairs, received a loaner car. Mar 6, 2024: After follow-ups, picked up the repaired vehicle and discovered safety issues through an independent inspection.

    Dear BBB,

The customer took the car to Firestone days after purchasing, to get checked. surly, ********* will give them a list needing to get fixed. I was a manager of 45 location ********* for 3 years and I know their tricks and how they work. I explained this to the customer. but the customer wants her car exactly how ********* told them. like customer says in her comments, the car is sold as is and we don't have any fund for it to fulfill her expectation. but if they want to go by ********* words, it will be on their expense.

I’ve purchased a car from the dealer and wasn’t told or aware of the problems that it had! Had it a month and the Ac went out then other problems started happening! When told them that something was wrong with the car and it needed to be fixed they actually gave me the run around! Mary and Dan!! So I took it to a specialist and got the list of problems wrong with it! I took it to Dan and he assured me they will fix it! Finally I dropped it off and had to pay 150 for a part that I was unaware of that wasn’t on the list! Paid it and my car note that was due!! I came back after another week and Dan then gave me all my parts back that I bought for them to put on and said I didn’t need them when actually I did! Got my car back right before Christmas and was in the cold my heater wasn’t working All my problems I was having when I dropped it off is still there! And when telling Dan about it he says well they didn’t fix your heat or Ac or anything only thing they fixed was the wheel barrel! And that wasn’t we agreed on! I had to drive the only transportation I had in the cold and cried trying to figure out why they wouldn’t fix my car! Knowing my heater my Ac my check engine light most of all my lights on my dashboard has been on and no one wants to help me! They then told me I was behind on my car note when I was not even driving the car they had it for weeks! But said I owe! It’s not far! They scammed me out my hard earn money and SOLD ME A Lemon! I guessing because I’m a female! And they still scamming me out my money without helping me resolve these issues! Please help!! I need someone to stop these people from selling bad vehicles!

     Hi,

firstable, the car was purchased on April/2022, almost 8 month ago as an AS IS NO WARRANTY VEHICLE.

the customer came to me around November asking to help her to fix THE POWER STEERING AND WEEL BEARING. she asked me if she buys the parts and we do the labor. we said that that 12 years old car was sold on as is condition but we would like to help. I also have to say that the price of the labor was way higher than the parts. we asked her to bring the car and the parts . miss wade friend brought the car and days after they brout the parts. these are the parts that their specialist told them and wanted to replaced for them . after checking the car very good , we realized the problem on steering is not the power steering pump and it is the Rack and Pinion . the power steering did not need to be replaced . their specialist was going to replace the wrong part on their expense. I let them know . they said the new Rack and Pinion is 425.00 and they cant afford it. I told them I will find a good condition used one . after finding a good one in Conroe. I, PERSONALY,  drove to Conroe and after inspecting the part, picked it up. I spend 3 hours of my own sweet time for my customer, so she don't have to spend too much money. we changed the wheel bearing and Rack and Pinion . and the wheels and power steering was in good condition. I called miss wade friend who was helping her and told him that the other parts are not necessary to be replaced and that is the way the mechanic make money. their mechanic or technician was just trying to ripe them off by switching unnecessary, easy to replaced parts. we paid the labor of $1200.00 to make miss wade happy . I was happy that I could save  her some money  . Miss wade came back a few weeks after and said that the heater was not working and why we didnot fix the heater. I told her we were never asked to check the heater for her. I told her that we were asked to work on steering and wheel bearing. she said that should take care of heater problem too!!!

with all that said, We will love to help our customers. but at the same time we will go by contract in the future so customer don't get to such a problem. We are very disappointed about the situation.

On October 24,2022 I test drove a 2009 Ram truck I stated what problems the truck had; they gave me a loaner truck ford f150 with all the lights on check engine, brakes, tire pressure, and I drove the loaner truck for a week. The dealership gave me a call letting my know my truck was ready. I picked up the truck; the truck was not fixed so the next day I brought the truck back the gave me the ford f150 again so I drove the truck for another week ;at this point I don’t even want the Ram truck I don’t want a vehicle you have to repair on so it his been 12 days I pay the rest of the down payment now I have paid 2500 I telling them I want another truck Mr.Dan tells me no.They put the truck in my name there’s nothing he can do ;if I want another truck I have to put another down payment down a few days later the Ford F150 brakes down I call my wife to come help I paid to get the truck towed home. So the next day I bring the f150 to the dealership they change the battery. I drove away later on that same day the f150 the loaner truck stops on the freeway. I called my wife again this time I go get the battery charged I come back the was towed. I tell the dealership they tells me I have to pay 280 for the storage I refuse because I believe I’m not at fault and now I’m out of a truck and the dealership telling me I need to pay 280 and this point I just want my money back.

    Dear BBB,

1-even though, the customer purchase the vehicle as is, we accept to do the repairs.

2-the customer was provided a loaner truck and he left it unattended . it got towed . the customer was responsible for storage fees. we paid the storage fees. he didnot take resposibility.

3- after purchasing the truck the customer repeatedly said that he would  like to put another down payment on different vehicle and that he don't care about the down payment he spent. all he needs is do another purchase . even though he would lose the down on this truck. he made his mind and now he wants something else.

4- at this time this truck is ready to go. if he still wants it. he has to bring all payments he is behind plus the insurance and pick it up.
