              Despite the credit union suspecting the charges/withdrawals were fraudulent, Smart Financial proceeded to use my account funds to pay 4 (four) fraudulent charges from my personal checking account. One for 351.60, one for 158.87, one for 334.66, and one for 342.28. Although the credit union notified me after the fact that they suspected fraud with the first charge, they proceeded to pay out the amount, then, incredibly, paid out 3 additional charges for different amounts to the same fraudsters.

              We had a five year car loan through Smart Financial that required us to allow them to automatically take each monthly payment directly out of our checking account. We had no control over payments to them. For some reason, maybe during covid, they chose not to take our payment for two months, which we did not ask for and did not even notice for a while. Now when closing out our loan, they took out an extra $132 on our final payment, telling us that this was extra interest we owed for skipping two payments. We have called multiple times and customer service is absolutely no help at all. What an underhanded way for them to make more money! We will never deal with them again.

              Mr. *****, Thank you for your feedback and for trusting Smart Financial with your auto loan. You are correct that during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we automatically extended due dates on member loan payments for two months. Due to the many members who needed assistance during that time, we processed these loan extensions for almost everyone. We communicated this to members and still accepted payments for those who wanted to make regular payments. This was a unique situation, and we acted in a helpful manner to most of our members. I understand your situation and will contact you today to get a few more details to resolve your concern.

              I got a call from Smart Financial's CMO as promised in his post. They are sending us a check for the extra interest they charged us. We were impressed how quickly they were able to correct this issue. He also apologized for the lack of help that came from their call center and said they would work on correcting that.
