I would NEVER in a lifetime recommend Mr. Troy B. Smith’s “Unprofessional Services”., in any capacity for the burial and/or memorial services of a loved one - located in Sunnyside, Houston, TX. Once he has your money, he is an entirely different person. It is sad beyond belief! He is a horrible representation of how we honor our loved ones under his haphazard and indifferent care. He never showed any empathy or compassion and yet, I paid him out of pocket. He buried my 25 year-old son and from the very first interaction with Mr. Smith, he was combative, showed no compassion and reiterated multiple times how much of a “professional” he was and how many years he had been in business, in an effort to intimidate me and my family. If he arranged for me, as my son's MOTHER to sit in the 2nd row of MY OWN CHURCH, then you could imagine the rest of the circus act that followed with not being able to obtain death certificates on time or any of the critical, very meaningful burial services we purchased. He did not even ensure that we received a copy of the visitors’ log. Upon my calls, he would hang up in my face repeatedly, even before the actual memorial services commenced. And after alerting him twice before those services, he allowed (and didn't attempt to fix) a long scar/cut behind my young son's ear that could have easily been covered up with simple makeup. It was nothing short of disgusting. I vehemently discourage anyone reading this post to use his services – please think twice (or 6 times) before entrusting your loved ones’ care to his sham of a business. He definitely takes advantage of serving a disenfranchised, generally aging community that believes he is their only local choice. Please join me in discontinuing any continued business with this man. He should not be allowed to conduct business in this line of work at all.
