I have Manhattan life and they have paid for our blood work at the doctors office for our physical but this time they didn’t. I called and the representative told me we no longer have that benefit. I told her that I don’t get a letter or no notification about this benefit. I called my agent and he said I should have this benefit. He can’t find out anything and I can’t either. I give Manhattan life a 0!Manhattan Life Group, Inc.

I am only giving them 1 star because I have to on order to leave a review. I have their highest level of fixed hospital indemnity insurance and pay a considerable amount each month. I was hospitalized Sept. 27-30 with acute diverticulitis. I have never experienced anything at all in regards to gastrointestinal disorders in my life. I have had ongoing pain since, and they have paid ZERO dollars in regards to my hospital stay- which should be a total of $18000. They have denied every single bill from the hospital (ex doctor, mri, ultrasound) and are still showing “pending” on the main hospital stay. Every person I speak to is clearly working from home (dogs barking, kids yelling, etc) and not a single person has given me a valid reasoning why besides “we are still investigating”- I was even told “we can take as much time as we want, so there is no approximate time”. It is January 10th. I have over $28k dollars in doctor bills pending. It is a complete incompetence and possibly fraudulent practices after seeing all the reviews below. It doesn’t look like anything is ever paid out at all by them. Do NOT ever consider purchasing linauranve with them.Manhattan Life Group, Inc.

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve called the office four times and two of the times they were closed for meetings. I’ve submitted a claim and I’ve heard nothing. I’m unable to review the status on the company site. I’m looking into taking legal action. My next step is to also cancel the insurance.Manhattan Life Group, Inc.
Date: 01/08/2025
Thank you for sharing your concerns, Geneil. We apologize for any frustration you’ve experienced and want to assure you that we take your feedback seriously. Upon reviewing your case, we found that the delay was due to limited access to our claims portal during the recent holiday break. We’ve since expedited your claim processing to address the matter promptly. As of today, one of your claims has been processed and will be deposited into your financial institution within 3–5 business days. For the second claim, we identified missing documentation (an itemized bill with diagnosis and procedure codes). We’ve communicated this to you and provided guidance on the next steps to resolve it. We’re glad we could assist you further and appreciate your understanding. If there’s anything else we can do to improve your experience, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at [email protected] or call us at 1-800-669-9030. Thank you.Review fromBEVERLY G

**** ******* ******* ** * **** ** *** ******** ****** * *** ******* *** * ***** ********* **** **** **** ** ** ** ******** ****** As a master's prepared Registered Nurse, I have paid biweekly faithfully, through my paycheck deductions since 2013, when my disability insurance was owned by Humana. I filed a claim in 2019 to have my hip replacement surgery. I had no delays whatsoever. Their forms were simple, & they paid promptly. ML then bought them out. I still paid ML faithfully. I just had my other hip replaced Sept 6, 2024, & it was my first time making a claim with ML. It was a nightmare & continue to be to this day. **** ******* ***** ***** ** **** ***** ****** ** ***** ****** *** ****** I submitted the same form 10 times, with 10 different people telling 10 different stories each time. I submitted my forms via Manhattan's portal, email & even sent directly to the Rep, via her email. I asked to speak with their supervisor. That was a ploy too. Their system does not allow you to see the forms you submitted or provide a confirmation. Why? So, their Reps can say what they told me; "We have not received your claim, resubmit it", "We received your claim, & as far as I can tell, it is complete", "We received your claim, but it is not complete, resubmit your claim, because whoever told you it was complete, did not know what they are looking at." "You will receive a letter in the mail in 7 to 10 days with forms to complete & mail back." "We do not assigned claims to our claim's adjusters. They sit until a claims adjuster finished the claims they are working on." I spoke to a Kathy, Patrick, Lorie and last to a supervisor Charlie ******* on 12/16/24. He assured that my claim would be processed by Friday 12/20/24. I called today to confirm my claim was processed; I find ML is CLOSED until 12/30/24. Every dollar I paid was on time & not a forgery. Why then should I get in exchanged for my money continued delays in payments & counterfeit services? ** *** ****** ** ** * ****Manhattan Life Group, Inc.

This is the most ridiculous co I have ever had to deal with. I do not recommend them to anyone. I was out of work 3 months last yr with a herniated disc, they never paid me a dime. Thier reason was is was preexisting b/c I had been going to a chiropractor. I go to the chiropractor faithfully every month and have been for over 20 yrs for just general maintenance. Now I just had surgery on both hands for carpal tunnel. Did my paperwork early and got everything sent in. When I called to inquire when I could expect a check, now they're telling me I should have filed a claim for each hand separately. Makes no sense at all, just a way to prolong paying me although I've never prolonged paying my premium. Just called to make sure they got the paperwork I had to redo, now they say it will take 2 weeks to process. Don't know how they can do people like this. It's just not rightManhattan Life Group, Inc.

They are horrible My wife had a $17,000 hospital bill and they paid a lousy $75 of it. I called to cancel the insurance and they said I cannot cancel it only my wife can well I’m the one that got it going for so why is it that I can’t be the one to cancel it for? I would not recommend this company to anybody All they care about is getting money. If anyone is thinking about getting Health Insurance , I sure would not go with this company. If you read it all they get is negative reviews.Manhattan Life Group, Inc.

I recently filed a claim. I didn't get any notification saying the documents were received or anything. I just so happened to call to ask if the claim was received, and then I was told I needed further information. I was told a letter was mailed out. It takes longer for mail to be received; wouldn't it be easier and quicker to email or put the document in the portal? I guess that's their way of making the process longer. So I then asked if there was anything else I would have to provide, and he said he wouldn't know; the claims department would have to submit that information. In which there is no way to contact the claims department directly. Why not let me know everything at one time instead of the runaround? The lack of communication this company has is ridiculous. I pray that was all I needed being this close to Christmas. It's already a process before you can even file; don't make things more difficult than they have to be. I paid for a specific service with no problem, so why make it so hard to collect when I need it?Manhattan Life Group, Inc.

Thank you, Kanita for sharing your feedback. We deeply regret any frustration you experienced during your claim process, especially at such a busy and sensitive time of year. Ensuring our policyholders receive timely and accurate service is our top priority, and we take your concerns very seriously. After reviewing your case, we’d like to provide some clarity: - Claim Receipt and Communication: Your claim was received on 12/02/2024, and on 12/04/2024, our examiner reached out to your physician’s office to obtain a necessary medical diagnosis that was not initially included. Unfortunately, no one was available at that time, so a follow-up letter was sent to you on the same day. We understand how mail delays can be inconvenient, and we are actively exploring ways to improve communication, including using email or portal updates where applicable. - Claim Processing: Once we received the updated medical documentation on 12/09/2024, your claim was processed promptly. The 14-day elimination period was applied, and disability benefits were paid for the period of 11/28/2024 to 12/29/2024 in the amount of $2,666.66. The total payment of $2,482.28 (after premium deductions) is set to be released via EFT on 12/19/2024. We understand your frustration about the time it took to communicate the necessary documentation. While claims often require follow-up details, we are working to streamline our processes to minimize any inconvenience for our valued customers. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve.Review fromJoyce B

This company deserves zero stars and needs to be out of business. I have been on medical leave since May 2024 and it is October 2024 and they are still requesting medical records. Over 5 months and they company along with the other reviews do not want to pay a claim. The underwriting company is the worst people. I have called the better business bureau and reported them and the BBB has told me there have been many complaints about this company. Stay away from this company they do not help the customers and try ever effort to avoid paying the claim. I was in a car accident no fault of my and endured a major surgery out of it. They have complicated my life and my families life but not paying my claim. When I return back to work at the end of the year I will be a big advocate on getting this company dropped from our employer… and have them look at other alternatives. And please spare your time and mine by not giving me your fake sympathies statement… Negative 10 ?? from me that is -10 star ?? Mahattahan Life Insurance and Annuity Company your board members and employees should be ashamed of themselves representing this company and even working for them… I don’t know how they go to bed at night continuing to lie to me and the people who hold these policies..Manhattan Life Group, Inc.

Thank you, Joyce for sharing your feedback. We understand how important timely disability payments are, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration and hardship this situation has caused you. After thoroughly reviewing your case, we found that delays occurred due to challenges in obtaining the necessary medical records from physician offices, which are required to process claims. Multiple requests and special authorizations were needed, which regrettably extended the timeline. We are pleased to confirm that payments for your claim have been issued as of now: $3,200 for the period of May 28, 2024, to September 27, 2024; $1,600 for the period of September 28, 2024, to November 27, 2024. We deeply regret the delay and the impact it has had on you and your family. Your situation underscores our commitment to improving our processes to ensure a better experience for our policyholders moving forward. If you have further concerns or questions, we encourage you to reach out to us directly at [email protected], and we will work diligently to address them.
