NOTE: My address may also be listed in their system as "***************". This address and my address entered are the same physical address.I bought a solar system 06/18/2024 from Green Light Solar LLC by a sales *** named ****** ******* in partnership with ***** ******. I have tried to reach out several times in the past two months with questions about filing for my tax credit I am entitled to, but nobody has been able to answer me. Instead, they have sent me in circles trying to contact people whose e-mail addresses do not work and whose phone numbers are not set up to take calls or voice mail. All I have is questions on how to proceed with this tax credit, and for the better part of a month, they seem to be actively ghosting **** was told when I bought this system that I would be able to monetize my tax credit for use as I see fit. I planned on using the money to put back into the solar loan as per my attached contract in order to keep my monthly payments consistent. When filing with the ***, I am told this is a non-refundable tax credit, and I am confused as to how this is supposed to be put back into my solar loan, if at all. I asked several times during the purchasing process, and ****** ******* told me that the tax credit would come in the form of a check that I could choose to send back to the party responsible for taking payments of my loan.

Decided to go solar and green light had contacted us back about a great deal The solar panels cost (amount financed $52702.50) (total sale price $88784.41) well they informed us about the buy down method which takes the solar tax credit and lets you apply it to your bill. When filing the taxes you find out that the credit can not be obtained it can only be used if you owe taxes. So the company lied to us telling us we could use the estimated return for us of $15810.75 to lower our monthly payments but the credit cant be used.

Solar panel company scamming us. It doesn't work. This company installed solar panels on our house. From day one it has been a mess. I can tell the story much better in person. In the end they ended up putting 380 wat panels on our house instead of the 400 wat they said they were going to put on. In the beginning, they guaranteed me that these panels would produce 103% of the energy that our house consumed. I insisted that it did because the whole point of getting these panels was to eliminate our electric bill. They assured me that it would. That was a lie. Since getting them they have averaged about 60% or what our house uses. We therefore have been paying the electric company AND paying for these panels ever since. They added 2 extra panels when they installed them and said they would make up the difference in the wattage. That was another lie. Enphase, the company that monitors our system, has assured me that doing that would NOT remedy the issue. I have tried to work with the company that sold us this system but they just keep giving me the run around. It is to the point where they will not answer my phone calls, messages, or emails. I even emailed the CEO of the company and have received no response. I ended up giving them a deadline of 11/1/2024 to respond and work to resolve this issue. They failed to respond. I am now compelled to find an attorney who will work on a " I don't get paid unless we win" basis. I see no way that we can lose this case. Enphase has all of the daily, monthly, and yearly outputs of these panels in their records, as well as real time monitoring. I also saved all of the emails that I have sent to them and the installers. And I have all of our electric bills. The name of the company is Greenlight solar. They have misrepresented themselves and these panels from the beginning until now. We also received 10K from the Govt. Had to pay it to them or our payment would have been ****** a month instead of *****.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. At Greenlight Solar, we strive for transparency and want to ensure that all aspects of your solar installation are clearly understood.
To clarify, Greenlights role in your solar project was solely to install the equipment as specified in the contract created and held by *********************** (ESD). The agreement between you and *** specifies the installation of 29 panels, which is exactly what was installed. Greenlight was contracted by *** to complete the installation as per the terms of that agreement.
Regarding your concerns about production guarantees, such as the promise of 100% deletion of your utility bill, these guarantees fall under **** responsibility as the sales entity. Any remedies, such as adding more panels to address production concerns, would need to be facilitated and approved by ESD.
We are happy to assist you in contacting ESD to help clear up these issues and address your concerns. Please let us know if you would like our assistance in facilitating communication with them.
If you have further questions or need additional support, please feel free to reach out. We are here to ensure you have the resources and information needed to resolve this matter. We are happy to keep this case open while we work with homeowner contact ESD.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.] Until this situation is fully resolved I will keep this complaint. Namely because this is the same thing that has been happening since I got these panels. *** says it is the installers problem. Greenlight Solar says it is ESD's problem. I have heard this all before. I am at the point that I don't care WHO's problem it is I just want the matter resolved. It seems to me that Greenlight solar can easily communicate with ESD and get the issue resolved of who's responsibility it is to take care of this. I am not going to be given the run-around AGAIN!

This company falsely represented themselves. Entered my house as a representative of a solar company I had already signed a contract with. The person came into my home, took screws out of my breaker box, flipped multiple breakers to off, did not put the breaker panel back together properly. A second individual called me today and blatantly lied about the situation. Said they were the installer for the company I had signed with and that my solar contract had been flagged for review. He sent me quotes. All of this was a lie and a scam. Very disturbing. Greenlight Solar should be stripped of it license. ***** ****** was the individual who called today and sent me a revised quote. All is a scam.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We want to clarify that ***** ****** is not an employee of Green Light. ***** is associated with a third-party sales organization that uses Green Light as the installer for solar systems. While he did present a proposal showing Green Light as the installer, this does not imply that he is directly employed by our company and while they may use our services for installations, we are not involved in their sales processes, in-home pitches, or presentations. Therefore, any interactions or proposals you experienced in your home were managed solely by the sales representative and his organization.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this situation may have caused. We are here to offer any further support or clarification you may need. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly if you have any additional questions.

This company has allowed its brand to be used to scam people. A man came into my home wearing a shirt with their logo. I was given a proposal on their letterhead. Unethical and unprofessional conduct. This company should have its solar license suspended and have a thorough investigation into fraudulent activity. I am thankful I caught on to the problem before losing money to them as others have.

Sales Representative, ***** ******, of Greenlight Solar, utilized false, deceptive and outright lies during his sales presentation and during the completion of the sale, which occurred during the first week of June 2024. He stated the benefits of going solar would be that the solar panels and associated equipment will have no charge due to a ***** and being in partnership with ****** (utility company) providing the solar system. He also stated that Greenlight Solar is working in partnership with ******. He also stated that once the system was up and operating I would no longer receive a bill from ******. He also stated the excess electricity provided by the system would be bought back by ******. ***** ****** went on to say that EVERBRITE would handle monthly billing and average cost per month for the life of the solar system (25 years) would be approximately $321, which is approximately half of what I currently pay. He also stated that I would also benefit from large tax breaks each year. When I finally reviewed the contract sent to me from ******** for me to review and approve with my digital signature I discovered someone within their organization signed on my behalf. Had I seen this contract I would have never approved a loan of $84,863.45 with a final payout of $142,964.19.. Also they have clauses that protect them from any of the lies and fraudulent actions taken by their sales reps. **** worthless contract is tailored as such to protect them and allow them to operate fraudulently to benefit their company and to outright cheat the customer.I have a complete copy of my complaints that I submitted to **************************'s office, ********************* - Consumer Protection Section I will be glad to share with you. It is a lot more in detail than what I can provide here. Please advise.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We take all customer feedback very seriously and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.

We understand that there may have been some confusion regarding the utility buyback program mentioned by the sales representative, Mr. ***** ******. We want to clarify that Mr. ****** is an independent contractor and not an employee of Greenlight. As such, any specific representations made by him may not reflect the terms and policies of Greenlight.

Regarding your expectations about the utility bill, Greenlight does not guarantee the elimination of utility bills since each utility company has different structures and policies.

Our commitment is to the solar systems production, as outlined in your contract. We guarantee that the system will produce the specified amount of energy, and we are dedicated to assisting you if the system does not meet these production figures.

If you have any concerns about the systems performance or if you notice it is not producing as expected, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to ensure that your solar system operates efficiently and meets the agreed-upon production levels.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to address this matter. We are committed to your satisfaction and are here to support you with any additional questions or concerns.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

I want to mention there was no confusion caused by the sales **** ***** ******. His entire sales pitch was outright lies. Everything he said was false and deceptive. Just like one of the news articles published, Greenlight Solar is quick to advise that the salesman is an indepenfent contractor. I don't know what your business structure consists of but Greenlight Solar had a representative come out to the house to sale a product on behalf of Greenlight Solar. It appears Greenlight Solar has designed a sales structure which consists of making a sale based on false and deceptive sales pitches and tailored a contract to cover those lies and to hold Greenlight Solar harmless.

When I finally found a copy of the contract in my junk folder in my email program, Docusign had sent me a copy of the contract to review and electronically sign if I approved. When I opened the contract, to my surprise, the contract had already had my electronic signature attached to the contract. The bigger question here is who, on behalf of Greenlight Solar, signed my name to this contract. There are so many red flags in the contract no one who has read it would have signed it. Being that this contract I have possesion of was never read by me, I consider this contract null and void.

I thought everything was going normal except while waiting on the system to be energized, it is when I started noticing news articles being published advising the public of the deceptive sales techniques used by Greenlight Solar.

These are criminal offenses punishable by law, it is one thing to be deceptive and falsifying statements during the sales talks but signing off on a contract without the customers knowledge is unacceptable.

Please void this contract and remove your equipment from my property.

      Regards,

      ******* R. ******

Thank you for your feedback Mr.******

      1. Independent Entity Clarification: ***** ****** is not an employee of Greenlight Solar. He is an independent entity who utilized our company solely as the installer for your solar system. We are responsible for ensuring the proper installation of the system and that its production figures are met, we have no  responsibility over any "verbal" pitches or agreements made by external parties like Mr. *******

2.Signature Authenticity: We understand the concern regarding the signatures. However, upon reviewing the documentation, the DocuSign certificate shows that the signature originated from the email address linked to your account in the BBB consumer information. We have provided you with a copy of the certificate if needed for your records below.

3.EverBright Verification: As part of the financing process, ********** the lender, completed a checklist with homeowner to confirm and verify all details regarding the solar system. This checklist ensures that all expectations concerning system's performance/savings, and financial terms were reviewed and confirmed with homeowner before finalization. Additionally it was also confirmed on the checklist that, even with the solar system, there may still be utility charges, and homeowner may need to purchase additional energy from  utility company depending on  energy consumption and production as well as utility structure and buyback program. This step is in place to ensure clarity and transparency.

Greenlight Solar remains committed to ensuring that your solar system is installed properly and performing as expected. If you have any further questions or concerns about the installation or system performance, please dont hesitate to reach out directly.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to resolving this matter.

      Customer Answer

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

      1.     Independent Entity Clarifications You say ***** ****** is not an employee of Greenlight Solar and utilizes you company solely as the installer. Please be advised I have a business card that ***** ****** gave me which has Greenlight Solar as the company. Also the card has ****** name, phone number and his email address which is a Greenlight Solar email address. You then go on to say Greenlight Solar is not responsible over any verbal pitches or agreements made by any external parties. You have the audacity to state all this but the fact is the only person I have dealt throughout this entire ordeal was ***** ******.

      2.     Signature Authenticity Yes you are correct, the signatures originated from my account. The fact is when ***** ****** arrived to my house he had his iPad with him. He asked if I had wifi and I confirmed I did and mentioned my laptop. I gave ****** my laptop and he fiddled with it a few minutes and then slid the laptop to me to read a clause and if I approve I sign off with a electronic signature. Each time I would sign off on a clause I would hand the laptop back to ****** until he came to another clause. Everything I signed off on had no reasons to raise any red flags based on ****** sales pitch. Never once did I see anything about financing a system for 25 years, I never saw the clause that I would continue to receive bills from ****** and I was never presented with the Welcome Call Questions Everown Agreement. Had I seen this 1 sheet of paper I would have not agreed to purchasing this equipment.

It is clear that ****** was scrolling down and signing my name to the contract as we were meeting without my knowledge, so I would not back out of the deal if I saw all this preposterous garbage you have in this contract. Actually during this process I was never advised it was the actual contract we were discussing. It was after the fact approximately 1 month after this signing that I realized I had not seen the contract for my approval. I eventually found an email in my junk folder in my Outlook program from ******** advising to read and approve. When I opened this mail the contract had already been finalized

      3.     Everbright Verification This checklist was NEVER presented to me for my review. The checklist you mention is the last page of your 30 page contract and as I mentioned above had I seen this I would never have approved of this scam purchase.

This sale was based entirely on information told to me by your sales rep. *** then after the fact I discover you even have clauses in the contract to hold you harmless from what your sales team tells the customer. It appears that your business model with your sales team is You lie, we will defy.

I am a 70 year old man living on a fixed budget. This transaction was based solely on information given to me by your sales rep. *** in their right mind would finance a purchase such as this for 25 years. I will not even be around to see the purchase fulfilled.

As I mentioned before, please void this contract and remove the unused equipment from my property. For your information, please advise a way forward as I am prepared to turn all this over to my Attorney

On November 22, 2023, ******** ****** and her co-worker, ********, came to my home to discuss the benefits of having solar panels. She figured up everything. She told us how many panels we would need, how many batteries we would need, and approximately how long it would take for everything to be up and running. She was wrong on all of that. Also, she told us the cost for my small $1525 square foot house would be $160,800. My husband and I laughed and said we didn't want them. ******** hurriedly explained that that was before our $32.040 down payment. We could do whatever we wanted. Buy a car, go on vacation. Anything we desired. We could even put it down on the solar panels. I said, "Well, that would bring the solar panels to $74,760. She agreed. She worked up the payment plan. It was $404.00 a month for a total of 300 months. My husband and I hesitated, but we agreed to it. She also gave us Schedule 1 with the payments, and also it showed the payments if you did not use the down payment. I was shocked when I got the first bill with the principal balance of $106,800. It should have been $74,760. I called ********** (the finance company), and they were adamant that it was $106,800. ******** ****** lied, misrepresented the facts, fraud, and false advertisement. I want Solar America to give me the $32.040 so I can personally give it to the finance company and I will pay the finance company the balance of $74,760. I am beyond furious. I know their plan. On the 19th month of paying $404. they will hit me with $579.27 and expect me to pay it for 281 months. They will have some excuse about not getting the $32.040. I want to ****** the contract. If this doesn't get resolved, I will file suit. Solar America should lose its license. I tried calling several times, but no one would call or email me. I have not had contact with them regarding this matter at all.

Ive attached a copy of the full purchase agreement from ********** signed by ******* *********** on 11/22/2023. The second page (FEDERAL TRUTH-IN-LENDING DISCLOSURES) of the agreement states the Amount Financed which shows the amount of $106,800. Page 5 of agreement under Tax credits and other incentives explained to homeowner how to determine eligibility for the tax credit in order to be able to make the buy-down payment. We strongly encourage these documents to be thoroughly read to avoid any confusion. On 11/22/2023. Homeowner also did complete a welcome call with ever bright (lender) confirming loan details and payment factors to ensure homeowner was understanding.

      Regards,
The business is full s*** I read and signed the contract. When I asked the representatives what that pay down payment meant I was told that was the government rebate check. On my welcoming call the woman did say $106,800. I told her that amount was wrong. ******** ****** hurriedly said, Oh, thats before the down payment of $32,040. I said, I thought the ****************** was paying $32,040.  The woman from Everbright said, Thats right. As far as the tax credit, I know about that. ******** ****** said, You get $32,040 rebate plus you qualify for a tax credit on your income tax.  I told her I will not be getting a tax credit on my income tax. I dont pay hardly any income tax. You have to earn a lot of money and pay a lot of taxes before you qualify for that. I told her and ******** that I would not receive a tax credit. I know what tax credits are as I use to itemize my deductions when I did my income tax. Greenlight, Solar America, and ********** knew what they were doing. The contract was written in such a way that they knew they could easily take advantage of people. When you asked a question it was answered but , of course, the answer was not listed in the contract. Well now this is how it is. They are so into the contract that I am now focused on the contract too. The contract states that if you go two consecutive months without making a payment they can come and get the solar panels off of the roof and sell them. Im waiting for them to come get them. Its too bad that to them words dont matter. Words matter to me. When ******** ****** told me the price will be $106,800 my husband and I both laughed and said never mind. I even told her I was sorry she wasted her time because we were not going to pay that much for solar panels. That was the first time she said, Wait, thats before the government rebate of $32,040.  As I said words dont mean anything to them but it does to me. I said I will not pay $106,800 for solar panels and I wont. They can come get them, sell them, or break them to pieces. I really dont care what they are going to do with them. Also, I took a video of Greenlight Solars advertisement. They post on ********. The video has it stating that the ****************** pays thousands of dollars of rebates on solar panels. He went on to say that one man got over $20,000. He went on and on about REBATES for solar panels. Is he not aware that REBATES are entirely different from a tax credit. As stated above tell them they can come and get the solar panels. After all its in the contract. One more thing. Did he also send you a copy of the letter I overnight mailed to him. I told him if my Entergy bill was over $100 I did not want the solar panels. The fist month I saved $16 on my electricity bill. The second month I saved $11, and in the month of July I saved a large sum of $8.77. My monthly bill for the solar panels are $576 a month (thats not with me paying the down payment) and my Entergy bill is between $350 to $500 a month. They really thought I was going to pay that. For one thing I dont have that kind of money. If I was a millionaire I would not pay it. Why? Because I SAID I WILL NOT PAY $106,800 FOR SOLAR PANELS. COME AND GET THEM!!!!

We have resolved this issue with the customer. We decided to cancel out the customer's loan and agreed on a new price of $74,760. We even went out to the customer house and gave her a breakdown of exactly how her new solar system works and to answer any questions they may have. I've attached the email that went out to the customer stating all of this as they requested it in writing. Let me know if you have any questions.

Ever since being installed in January of 2023, the system has not operated properly whether it is circuit breakers tripping, microinverters not reporting, or solar panels being offline and not producing energy. The list below is some of the dates that panels were inoperable (this does NOT include dates from Aug 2023 to present) : -Feb 23 through Mar 12 (half of the #2 grouping of panels were inop)-Mar 13 - April 25 (All of #2 grouping of panels were inop)-This is when we had someone come out and check the system, which worked for the #2 grouping, but then the problem was with the #1 grouping of panels -May 26, 13 out of 16 were inop on #1 grouping of panels -Jul 2nd & 3rd 13/16 inop -Jul 24th 13/16 inop -Aug 4-6 13/16 inop -Aug 13 13/16 inop -Aug 29 13/16 inop This totaled 72 days where a whole grouping of panels or a majority portion of panels were inop.I emailed the company this information along with my electric bill statements to account for how much energy we were using from the grid when we shouldn't have been. In the past month, our circuit breaker for an entire array of solar panels has tripped multiple times. They are no longer responding to my texts when tell them there is an issue.

We have been working with homeowner regarding solar system issues. To make things right during our process we have reimbursed homeowner for payments made to solar system while we resolve concern. We have a site visit today on 8/05/24 to perform additional diagnosis and necessary repairs to solar system equipment to ensure everything is at 100% functionality. Additionally we have established communication with homeowner as it seems he was reaching out to a former employee and provided with additional sources of contact info.

I am declining as the issue is not resolved. Since a technician came out on 05 Aug, 2024, the system has tripped 2 more times. Each time I have sent a photo of both the circuit breaker being tripped as well as the app that shows the microinverters are not reporting/not producing energy. The technician that came out said he didn't expect what he did on 05 Aug, 2024 to fix the issue, but had a plan in place to troubleshoot the issue. I do not feel comfortable accepting the complaint as resolved until the issue is fixed.

      Regards,

It is true that troubleshooting the issue has been taking place, the issue itself is not resolved so I will continue to keep this complaint open until the issue is resolved, or next steps have been determined. As of right now, a seperate breaker has tripped twice within the last week rendering 12 panels inoperable in that span, on top of the two that were disconnected.

We have resolved the issue with the customer. We have been out multiple times to the customers house to troubleshoot the problem with the system. Finally on our last visit on 11/11 we completely fixed the issue. I just checked again today and the system is working perfectly with no alerts. We told ***** to reach back out to us if he sees any issues with his system as we'll be out there immediately to fix it. But as for now, all issues have been resolved. Let me know if there's anything else that needs to be done.
