I am retired and try to be very careful with my money. When it comes to my health, I try not to cut corners as much as possible. Several months ago I started treatment to get 2 tooth implants. I went to my regular dentist because they are in my insurance network. They provided an estimate of cost, and although it was very expensive I chose to go ahead and have it done. AFTER I received my implants I got an EOB from my insurance saying nothing was covered because the dentist that performed the procedure (not my regular dentist) is not in my network!! I felt cheated and embarrassed because I felt taken advantage of , they pulled a bait and switch on me. They NEVER told me that dentist was not in network. If they had, I would have left and found one that was. Although the actual implant was not covered, all the prep work, the extraction of my old tooth, etc would have been. Seems like they provide a storefront for out of network dentists to perform procedures, all the while claiming they are in my network. I went in to the office to complain, all they said was they were sorry for the misunderstanding. But it was not a misunderstanding. I feel they deliberately misled me.

    Dear *******************,

First let me start off by apologizing, we would never want our patients to feel cheated or embarrassed or even misled.  We truly strive to give exceptional care to each one of our patients.
During our treatment presentation with you, we went over the treatment cost with you as well as what your insurance was estimated to pay for each visit.  It is our policy to let each patient know ahead of time that sees our specialists that they would be an out of network provider. It would then be your decision if you would like to be seen by the specialist or see another Dr that would be in network with your insurance.   Each treatment plan that we went over was signed and dated by you, I would be happy to mail or even email you copies of the treatment plans.

    Sincerely,

    ***********************
