I live in a community with 100s of residents, lake livingston water supply has ***** here to provide us water. They have back up generators but they do not work 4 times this year due to storms we lost power for days, no power equals no water we can not brush our teeth flush toilets cook because they will not hook up the back up generators. This is a health issue they laugh at us when we call and tell us that we are not more important than anyone else. No we are not but others have water when we do not so what do we do now. Can't fight them they control our water. And if we stop paying they disconnect us so we have to pay we have to remain silent. Please help us. I have been here for 3 years and never once had water when we lose power. On our local face book page the residents all agree this is nasty we all have gnats in our homes from the unsanitary conditions from 0 water. I was billed $213.06 for water used from 5/30/23 to 6/29/23. The unusually high charge was for ****** gallons. We only use this home a couple times a month, and always use less than the minimum of **** gallons that they automatically charge for.I took the bill to their office to let them know that our lousy neighbor (who was mad at my husband) evidently is the one who ran our bill up. He evidently turned on the meter, removed the hose from the outside tap, and let the water run! So the next time my husband went there, he noticed that the meter wasnt turned off in the position that he had left it. When he turned it on, the water started immediately running out the tap under the house. There was also a washcloth on the ground by the tap. We figured our neighbor was the one who did, but we couldnt prove it was him, but who else would do that? Weve had our cabin for over 20+ years and never had a problem til now (since the renter moved next door).***** can look back at our account to see that in all those years, we never used more than the minimum that they bill us for. But that didnt matter to them. Anyone can see that it wasnt US that ran the bill up like that. They said the water ran through the meter, so we are responsible for it. There was no concern for us, and they wouldnt help in any way, to remove the outrageous charge for the usage they KNEW that we didnt use. I asked the office manager (****, I think) if there was a supervisor that might be able to help me. She said we have a supervisor but she will tell you the same thing, and refer you back to me. So **** has the last say, and she was cold and uncaring. That is a sad way to run a company, when you dont care about longtime established customers. They are a monopoly, with no other choices in the area, so they can treat customers like c*** and get away with it. Its very shameful!

In response to the complaint received for Starr Little.  We did notice high usage verified the reading which was shown to be correct.  **************** did come into the office to discuss her bill of $213.06 and spoke with the billing/office manager ****, unfortunately documentation or a statement filed with the ****************** is needed to make any adjustments to the account.  The customer stated that the neighbor used her water, we have no way of knowing who or how the water was used only that it went through the meter.  we do offer payment arrangements.  I recommend the customer install a cut off valve on their side of the meter and lock it when they are out of town.

      Sincerely,

      ************

      Complaint: 20430172

I am rejecting this response because:

You sent the original letter to them on Aug 8, requesting that they respond within 10 days.  They didn't bother to respond!  So you sent them another letter on ****, again requesting that they respond within 10 days.  They waited til **** to respond.  That shows you that they don't care!

We were NOT told that a statement or documentation from the ************** would be needed for them to make an adjustment!  That is a lie!  We had thought about filing a complaint with the **************, but we knew it wouldn't do any good since we did not know the renter's name, nor did we have concrete proof (i.e. video) of him doing it.  But it's only logical - to logical people - that it WAS him, since he had recently had a disagreement with my husband.  And the neighbor down the road told my husband that he had chased the same renter, from the house next door to us.  He told the renter and his wife that they had no business being there.  So it wasn't just us that he was messing around with.  Who knows what he was doing at their house, since they only use their house as a weekend getaway like we do.

************ has no more compassion for loyal customers, than the office manager **** has!  You would think they would have realized that it was not US that ran out ****** gallons, just for the fun of it.  We did not enjoy paying a $213 water bill!!  And for us to have the cabin for 20+ years, and only using water every other weekend, should be more proof that we did not use this water.  We don't even use the minimum gallons of water but yet we are charged as if we did.  This is wrong!  If you want to charge someone for water that runs through the meter, then don't charge for water that DOESN'T run through the meter.

I don't expect them to have compassion and forgive this outrageous bill, but they should!  They should be able to make an exception when they can look back at our bills for the past 20+ years, and know that we did not use this much water.  But since they don't care, I know I am just wasting my time. They need to update their infrastructure, so they can tell how much water is used daily by customers.  Our ******************** can tell me how much water is used hourly!  They badly need to update their system.  If they had a decent way to tell water usage, they would see that they ****** gallons of water was used when we weren't there!

      Regards,

      Starr Little

Lake Livingston Water supply requires a $300 deposit to turn on water. Hi twice now have not got a bill in a certain month and then all the sudden I get a late notice and they never tell me my disconnect date and theyll come out and disconnect my water before the disconnect date. Now mind you none of my bills have been over the $300 deposit Then they charge me a $40 reconnect and a $40 disconnect fee. So then whenever I call to ask about the billing not being mailed on time the lady tells me shell see if I can do a split payment for the $156 out of nowhere. I was told no they cannot split the payment even go part of that payment is not due till the 16th of the month and this is March 1 so how can I disconnect my water if part of my payment is not due until March ************************************************ my $40 and my bill was less than 90 so Februarys bill I only owe part of, then they tried to refer me to have somebody else pay my bill I am willing to pay my bill and two payments what to do or past due now I want its not due till March 16 on March 16 why are they referring me to get free money from somebody else to pay my bill. That money is for people that really need it theyre just that greedy Im getting the payment early that they want me to go use resources that I shouldnt be using . What is the point in a deposit if it does you no good how are they charging a deposit whenever it means nothing whats the deposit for what is the deposit for?
