The owner of this company poured a concrete slab that sloped towards the patio back door and refused to fix it without getting paid again. He claimed it was not possible to fix and quickly blamed other items surrounding the area and presented himself in unprofessional manner. This company is not competent in concrete and should not be operating. Due to rainwater getting into the house, I demolished the slab myself and got another crew to do the job right. What he said was impossible, the alternative crew accomplished without any issues.

    Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2022/09/08) */ Contact Name and Title: ***** ****** Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXX Contact Email: ***********@gmail.com This customer called us to come out and do an estimate on a job that was architected by his son. When we went out to look at the job I specifically told this gentleman Mr **** ****** that this would not be a good poor because the way that the porch patio was and the pitch of the roof it would eventually all puddle. He said that is the way the customer wanted it and so even against my advice he said that's how they wanted it. I did the job as he wanted it and as I mentioned to him, the rain began to puddle. He called me back to let me know that the water was coming back on the porch and I told him again that this was what we had discussed in the beginning and he was okay with it then. He asked me to come fix it because the customer was mad and I told him I don't have a problem coming to fix it but I'm not going to go out and just break out something that you wanted and redo it for free because that's not what I'm in the business for. Yes I told him that I would fix that and would come to some kind of compromise but he was rude and said that I needed to come right away and I told him I don't do business like that. I'm not going to jump off of my jobs that I've been doing for 12 years just to go fix something that I told him was not going to work in the first place. His son called me then and let me know that this was an issue and again I told his son that I explained to his father I knew this wasn't going to work but he wanted not matter of fact he insisted that we do it that way. So after he got rude with me I got rude back which is my nature to be when someone is yelling at me I work for my own self and do not tolerate it at all. Of course some other crew could probably come out and do it and have it done because it was done the way that it should have been done in the first place maybe. So the only complaint that should be mentioned here is the fact that your son is an architect who builds houses and does all kinds of whatever he does so he should have seen that from the get-go. Shouldn't be upset with me because I did a job that he wanted and paid me to do is exactly what he got so now I will not be refunding anything because I got paid for doing what I did and if he had to spend some money somewhere else because he had to break it up that was his fault for letting it be laid like that in the first place against my advice Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/09/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I'll cut my losses on this one and consider our payment as a donation to Mad everything. This company needs all the experience and education they can get. Glad I can contribute! In the end, ***** knows he's operating his business on lies, especially when we gave him the opportunity to come fix it on his own schedule (which he never showed up) and were willing to negotiate payment to get it fixed. We also, did not get rude towards him until he got out of line. We gave him the benefit of the doubt to come and make it right but like several contractors of this caliber, we knew he wasn't coming back. Wish all contractors took pride in their work and cared more about their reputation than a few dollars! The most important factor of this process was to give the homeowner a patio that did not drain water inside of their home and we achieved that with a different, more experienced concrete company. If the statement were true about pouring a concrete slab that "would not work" as stated in his response above, then why would he pour it and not walk away? Either he was desperate for cash or thought he could make it work....but he won't admit to it. Also, what company advises a costumer not to do something and then turns around and does it for a fee? Seems backwards to me..... This was not a hard slab to pour and I plenty of phots to prove it. As a company, Mad everything is operating unethically by taking advantage of unknowledgeable citizens and turning their back to blame others when someone knowledgeable comes around. I could never take money for doing a job wrong, but I guess we are all bred just a little different. Best, **** ******

June 17, 2022 Initially I told Mad Everything I need a concrete slab and a walkway to the alley. I also informed Mad Everything that they were to leave an area around the gas lines, so if anything ever happened we would not have to bust through the concrete. I made sure to show both areas of where the gas lines are attached to the backside of the house. They agreed. Mad everything was scheduled to come pour a concrete slab in Brownfield on June 15, 2022. I got a call the night before stating that their employees went out of town and had no one to work that day. I said fine but I had to do something for Father's Day and my plans were pending on the concrete being poured. Then I received another call stating they will be here Saturday to get the forms ready and then they'll pour the concrete Monday. Then I received another call stating that they'll be here Friday the 17th to pour. Mad Everything gets here on time, and they start on setting the forms/ molds while they wait for the concrete truck to arrive. They pour concrete and later that day the employees of Mad Everything start taking the forms off and my husband goes out there and smells gas. They were not going to tell us about it. We had to call Atmos Energy to shut off our gas because these employees could not shut the valve off. ******* from Mad Everything told us she could not find a plumber to repair our gas line, so I started looking for a plumber. ******* said that they would only pay half of the costs of repairs and so my husband delivered the receipt from the plumber and was told by ***** ****** (the owner) that they would not pay for any of it. The worst part is that they had the tool to detect gas lines, but they did not use it. The plumber we used to repair the gas line consulted with the city inspector and the city inspector said they never got a permit to do the job in the first place. The cost of the concrete work $2850 and the cost to repair the gas lines $2443.76.
