      I paid 1100 plus another 400 for battery and charger. I bought the truck for my son and I have never knew anything about rc truck. When I bought the truck I spoke with traxxas via online chat. They are rude. Acted like they did not want to help me. I asked them about their optional spur gear that comes with the truck they told me I need to put the 17t pinion(that also comes with the truck) I did that check the mesh it was correct. I powered on the truck on my bed and lightly tapped the throttle on the controller the truck moved 2inches and all the tooth sheared off the spur and pinion. So I put back the 54tspur/15t pinion and the truck only lasted an hour before the same thing happened. Traxxas have a pin system where all you have to do is put the pin in the right spot and its suppose to give you the perfect mesh but it doesnt! I did research online and everyone says that the gears and pinion are so cheap that break right away. Traxxas been knew about the issue for over 7yrs now and they still wont put reliable gears in their car. Its a Ponzi scheme. They put bad gears into the car knowing its going to break right away and you will have to buy new set of spur and pinion right away. They are making hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions. Thats over 7 years worth of them doing this. If I bought a car and the piston was bad for the factory thats like me buying a lemon and the dealer would have to honor and fix the issue or have a extended warranty to fix the issue. This been a long time issue with traxxas but they just puts the same bad gears in every time they come out with a new version of the truck. Version 6 is the one I bought. If youre a YouTuber they will send new gears free at charge and stronger and better gear too and they do that so YouTuber can speak good about them but when its a regular consumer they say they cant help them. 1500 for a rc car that works like a regular car and requires similar maintenance of a real car to break right out box

      We appreciate the customers recent purchase and are sorry to hear they ran into an issue. We closely monitor failure rates for our products and online reports are not a representative sample of the overall market. These reports are only being made by the relatively few users who have seen a problem; the vast majority of users are not having an issue, and therefore do not bother to post about their truck running fine. The **Maxx gears are in no way inadequate or part of any scheme.This is simply a very popular model, and the gears are a wear and tear item that can fail for a variety of reasons, so naturally there will be more discussion of them than some other parts.

      While we do not provide optional components at no cost, we are sending the customer a replacement set of the factory installed gears at no charge to get them running again. Repeated gear failures within a short time would indicate something else is wrong with the truck causing the issues. If that happens, we will want to have the vehicle sent in and evaluated by our repair technicians to determine the actual cause of the ongoing failures.

      I have reviewed the business response and accept this resolution.  but i would like the hardened gears like how traxxas sent to other people and 18t pinion that goes with traxxas mesh system instead of the 17t pinion for the 46t spur. thank you traxaas now i will go ahead and put my order in for other traxxas upgrade though their website directly for my son i have a order on their website for about 350 and i will make the purchase thank you thats all i wanted is customer support and reasurrance

      Purchased a toy vehicle from Traxxas (merchant) on 06/08/2024.Upon receipt, the item was showing signs of defect. The battery charger was "blinking red," signaling an error of some type (no details). Attempting to diagnose these problems via the user manual was unsuccessful. After three uses of the toy under recommended operating conditions, the unit began to "smoke" from what appears to be from an electrical defect. Upon close inspection, there appears to be visible "electrical burn" damage on unit electrical component(s).The item is dangerous and a fire hazard. The battery and/or electronic components are defective and pose an immediate risk to safety.I contacted Traxxas (merchant) about these problems multiple times and the response I received was unsatisfactory. I was expected from Traxxas (merchant) to send the product back at my own risk & cost with unreasonable terms i.e. the return parcel requires signature and insurance. Further, upon checking shipping restrictions for three major carriers ******************* defection lithium batteries are a "prohibited" item. Regardless, I believe as this is a defective item upon receipt, the shipping expense should be on Traxxas (merchant), in the form a furnishing to myself a pre-paid return label.Last, in the response received from Traxxas (merchant), there was no assurance of a refund. The response was "we will check it out."I wish to return the defection unit with a pre-paid return shipping label for a full refund.

      We are sorry to hear the customer has had a difficult time with their recent purchase. Initially, the customer only mentioned one thing with his chat conversation on 6/22/24. The customer wished to return their recently purchased model vehicle because The vehicle is simply too low for my use. The customer purchased our Rally model vehicle. This is a race car replica of full-size rally race car best suited for pavement or hardpack dirt conditions. This is not an offroad truck style model. Our chat representative explained that we do not accept models for return once they have been opened or used. The chat representative went on to provide some suggestions about how the customer could customize the suspension on their model to better suit their driving style. Unfortunately, the customer did not appear to be interested in those suggestions. The customer did not mention any possible warranty issues or failures with the model during this chat, so return information was not provided. 

      Now that the customer has reported a possible warranty issue, we have sent a return authorization to send the product in for testing and repair under warranty. We stand behind our products with a 30-day warranty against manufacturing defects in the electronics. These are hobby grade model vehicles where every part can be serviced or replaced like full-size vehicles. Like full-size automobile warranties, we do not exchange or offer refunds on used items, but repair any defects found by our technicians and return the model to the customer in good working condition. Our repair process is quick, usually taking about 3-5 business days after receipt,often less. We provide updates throughout the repair process, including return tracking information once available.

      I am rejecting this response because:  I want a full refund. I refuse to send a hazardous item at my expense for this company to "check it out." I find Traxxas predatory, toxic, and their employees to permeate a culture driven by corporate greed. This product is of awful quality at a premium price. Apparently everything is a fight to the bitter end with them, which furthers my distrust to send this electrical bomb back at my expense and the risk that they might replace and/or fix it, or even the risk of being fined by the United ********************* for sending restricted items. I see similar horror stories online by other customers who have been ripped off by ********************** with restocking fees and the general attitude of "oh well," and "sorry, pal." Terrible culture. I hope this testimony can at least stray one potential customer away from their unethical trap of ripping customers off and placing unreasonable expectations on their customers to play their expensive and ridiculous return games. Relative competitors include: Arrma, Team Associated, & Losi. Buyer beware folks.

Our return requirements are clearly explained in the terms of service on Traxxas.com, which customers must accept during the checkout process.       Except for incorrectly shipped items, you are responsible for and must prepay shipping charges.       On 4/20/24 I purchased a traxxas K10 from superstition hobby in *********** az got it home opened the box and found the decals on the brand new machine were bubbling off not straight and over all damaged I was told by hobby store to reach out to traxxas which I did same day as purchase through email I was told that replacment decals were being shipped to me I immediately called the number in the email and said I absolutely do not want to re decal this brand new ****** purchase myself was told the body's are expensive and to reach back out to the email stating I didn't want the decals mailed I stated the whole machine was expensive and I would expect to have a new correctly snickered truck for what I paid it's not like I bought a used machine, I stated that they could send me a new body and I will gladly send this one back to traxxas, he emailed me a shipping label and told me to respond to the email there was no further communication may 1st I reached out asking what the plan was and was told I need to send my body in with the label to be examined and it will go into a que to be fixed which I responded that I have accessories attached to the body that I am not just going to ship off and may or may not get the same one back nor do I feel like I should be left without use of this brand new item. And that is final communication I understand that these things are not cheap as I paid good money for this one but I would like a new body done right mailed to me and I will send them this messed up body back after recieveing the new one then I am not without use.

      The customer reported misaligned stickers on their body, and we promptly sent a new sticker sheet so they could be replaced. When the customer indicated they were unsatisfied with that solution we then sent the information necessary to send the body in for evaluation and repair or replacement by our technicians. While we are sorry to hear the customer is still unsatisfied, in this instance we will need to receive the customers body for evaluation first in order to resolve the reported issue with the stickers. We suggest removing any aftermarket or 3rd party additions to the body before sending in to us.

      I do not agree to be without a body for a brand new item that makes my purchase un usable and no I don't feel for ****** I should be re stickering the item that should have come done for that price. I will send this body to them after I recieve a new body so that I am not without use of my purchase. So it's not about dissatisfaction as it is about a middle ground.

      Based on the information provided a replacement body is not necessary in this situation. A simple sticker replacement will resolve the issue reported. Due to the value of the body, we are not able to simply send one out upfront but have provided all the information necessary to return the body for evaluation and repair or possible replacement by our technicians. Our turnaround time is quick, usually requiring no more than a few business days upon arrival for processing and the return to be shipped back. Unfortunately, at this point we will need the body returned before a repair or replacement decision is reached. Alternately, we could send the stickers as initially planned, this way they could be replaced without any downtime at all.

      I am rejecting this response because: as a company who sold me a ****** machine with completly messed up decals who is worried about sending me a new body and taking this body back when I recieve the new one so I can continue to use the item I purchased the cost of a body is way less then the ****** I spent expecting to have a usable new machine no I will not spend the time pulling the old decals off and replacing them with new ones u want to send me if u have a local repair shop that can do them same day I would have been fine with that but I myself am not doing them or I would have built a body myself. I am rejecting the offer for me to repair the brand new machine and I am rejecting sending you my body leaving this machine unusable for and undecided amount of time and may be returned even more damaged.

      I am rejecting this response because:   I have learned my ****** will not purchase another traxxas item nor will close family and friends this was a s***** deal and my bad on not checking the brand new item when it was purchased before leaving the store but seeing the quality produced a few customers and definalty lost there was definalty a better way for this issue to have been handled without me the consumer being put out in any way but customer service isn't what it used to be and as I stated ****** learned I will leave my review and leave it at that.

      Purchased a new Traxxas Ultimate Rustler 4x4. Within the first 10 minutes it burned through a spur gear. Went to the hobby shop, hour drive and they gave us the wrong replacement. After another 2 hours of driving we got the correct replacement. Installed it according to the manual, and 5 minutes later it has ate another gear. For $500 plus, it shouldn't be 5 minutes and then replace parts. It wasn't abused. It was ran in accordance with recommendations , and I've now spent 6 hours of driving for 10 minutes of use. This is unacceptable. Traxxas, before you come at me with your form response that is not only disrespectful, but laughable, put some thought into it. I'm going back to the hobby shop tomorrow, another 2 hours of driving, and will be attempting to return this POS. Is this truly the legacy you want me to represent on social media for your "quality" of product? I purchased this as the beginning of a new hobby. I also purchased a new ** car from your competitors based on price for my 9 year old, at half the price. It is still running amazingly. This is an absolute disgrace on the traxxas name, that used to be a staple of the the ** community

Spur gear failures are not a common issue and are usually caused by something other than the gear itself, such as a loose slipper clutch or a bad bearing.       I am rejecting this response because:   

      When purchasing such an item, it isn't a reasonable expectation to be fiscally responsible for repairing what they ent out broken. I have lost all faith in this one revered brand. I have learned in forums that the self upright feature seems to be the culprit, and that there is a metal upgrade opportunity that I'll look into.  But to literally allow this type of failure to hit the shelves, is a disgrace. I wrote the reseller who was kindly willing to try and assist more, but my time and money that I'll willing to waste on a failed product, has come to an end.

      Perhaps in the future I'll try the xmaxx, the flagship model, which was my original plan, but with the issues I've had with this so far, there are other brands with better customer service.

      The customer placed an order on ************************** on Saturday March 30, which was shipped same-day via the expedited shipping method chosen at checkout. Unfortunately, the customer was misinformed on the delivery estimates for expedited packages and expected it to arrive sooner than was advertised. Expedited shipping on Traxxas.com specifically states orders will deliver in 2 -3 business days and will not deliver on weekends. Since the order was placed on a weekend the shipment day is considered Monday 4/1, and the delivery estimate from *** was 4/3, within the advertised 2-3 business day window shown during the checkout process.

      We attempted to explain this during several calls with the customer on 4/2 between 9 and 10 am Central Time; however, were unable to provide these details before the calls were ended.

      The customer then stated via email they had disputed the payment transaction with their bank. Due to this, we recalled the order and had *** return it to our facility. On 4/8 we processed a refund for the customer minus the shipping charges.

      Terrible customer service. Purchased 2 Latrax Rally. Ran great the 1st 2 times but we wanted a more powerful longer lasting battery. So I ordered 2 directly from Traxxas that they listed as the replacement for the Rally. Swapped out one battery and the car went from going 25 mph to 8 and smelled something burning. Requested a refund on the batteries and the answer was nope, you opened the box. Both cars are now damaged now too as they swore up and down that it was the correct battery. I've Purchased several Traxxas models over the years but never will again.

      We are sorry to hear the customer had a frustrating experience with their recent purchase. The battery purchased by the customer,part number *****, is compatible with the LaTrax Rally. Unfortunately, the customer experienced a motor failure shortly after using the replacement battery. This was simply a coincidence or bad luck, not caused by the replacement battery itself. While we do not offer refunds on items once they have been opened and used, we did offer to send the customer a replacement motor free of charge to get their Rally running again. The customer chose to decline this offer.

      We have no record of a reported second motor failure, only the single issue with the one vehicle. LaTrax Rally is one of our most popular entry-level models and the only battery we offer for sale is the one purchased by the customer. Thankfully, that battery is fully compatible with these models. We closely monitor reports of product failures and motor issues overall are simply not a common occurrence with either the factory battery or the optional replacement pack.

      I am rejecting this response because:   No resolution offered.  I have already returned the damaged cars via the method of purchase. I want a refund for the batteries plus shipping at the price I paid.  Considering your reviews and BBB rating, I do not believe you nor does it even remotely make sense when it happened to both cars

      While we appreciate the time taken to provide feedback, we disagree with the opinions that no solution was offered and the battery is not compatible with LaTrax Rally. As explained previously, we do not offer returns on items once they have been opened and used; however, we did offer to replace the failed motor completely free of charge. Furthermore, LaTrax Rally has been a popular model for nearly 10 years, and the only compatible replacement battery ever offered is the one purchased by the customer. There is simply no compatibility issue.

      Brand new Rally cars (3) Charged as instructed, runs only 8 minutes **** 3 minutes for two cars. I was informed by customer service once I called in that **** minutes is average run time. None of these details are anywhere in the description of items previous to purchase. In fact, the description states longer battery life. They are aware of the issue and continue to sell leaving pertinent information out hiding from the consumer details about the product they sell.

      We are sorry to hear the customer was disappointed with their recent purchase. The average runtime for these models is usually in the 7 10-minute range. Many customers choose to purchase additional batteries to extend runtime beyond that included in the box. Traxxas models carry a 30 day warranty on the electronics for manufacturing defects. From the description provided by the customer the models are running normally. Unfortunately Traxxas does not offer refunds on items once they are opened and used.

      The complaint I have is there is nothing stated in the product description regarding the dismal runtime of their product.  If that pertinent information was included- in short- said product would not be purchased by consumer for such an exuberant price. Nothing in the description states that run time is **** minutes ( the numbers keep changing from company).  It does state that it has a longer battery life.  It is very misleading to the point that it is an outright lie.  There in is my complaint.  And how would a consumer know unless the box is opened and used to know the dismal runtime of said product.  Leaving their policy of if the box is opened or used rather ridiculous.

      I am rejecting this response because:   There is absolutely no product description of dismal runtime of said product.  As well as there is no way to know of dismal runtime until box is opened and the car model/type is used. For the short dismal time it runs.  Leaving your policy laughable. It is misleading, or better put, an outright lie with your longer battery life description in the product description.  There is a lack of integrity and honesty with your company.   Put in the pertinent information so customers have a chance to not fall prey to the deception of false description of product.   Also, longer battery life does not mean that customer should purchase more battery packs.

      I have 7 defective Traxxas batteries that lasted less than 6 months of use. None of the batteries will hold a charge. This is nearly $1000 worth of batteries that are now defective under light use.Quantity 1- Part #****X Quantity 6- Part #****X Very disappointed in the quality and I can no longer use my Traxxas vehicles due to this. I am requesting replacement batteries be shipped to me.

      We are sorry to hear the customer has experienced an issue with their LiPo batteries. Traxxas LiPo batteries carry a warranty against manufacturing defects for one year from the date of purchase. When the customer contacted ********************** on 8/8/2023 at around 1:30 PM CT they stated the batteries were purchased in May of 2022, putting them well outside the warranty period.The representative informed the customer the batteries were not eligible for warranty replacement but could be replaced at a reduced cost under the Traxxas Battery Replacement Program. After being provided a quote for the 7 replacement batteries the customer indicated they would call back when they were ready to set up the return authorization.

      If the customer was mistaken and can send the batteries in with a proof of purchase showing they are within the warranty period, we will be happy to evaluate them for possible defects and replace them if covered by the warranty. Otherwise, the Battery Replacement Program is always available to replace Traxxas LiPo batteries at a discounted rate regardless of age or cause of failure. If the customer wishes to set up a return authorization or has further questions or issues, we are available to help.       I am rejecting this response because: Some were purchased outside of the 1 year warranty. These batteries should last longer and not be a dangerous hazard with all the swelling and lack of holding charge, they are defective. I want these batteries replaced free of charge, I am a good customer.

      I purchased a $500 Boss unit for my son's Christmas present. It broke the first day after 5 mins of use. The sent a replacement part which broke the same day and they reluctantly replace it and said if it happened again I would need to buy the metal pieces instead of the plastic ones. Their customer service employees both told me to basically go to **** in a hand basket. After buying the replacement parts the axle has broken twice and they refuse to supply me with a part which will hold up under normal driving.

Unlike toys purchased from a big box retailer, every part and component can be replaced by the customer to restore the vehicle to full working condition. Thankfully, the Hoss is anything but fragile; however, with the high powered battery setup purchased by the customer, it is certainly possible to break parts through wear and tear or impacts without any inadequacies in the product being present. This vehicle was designed based on the legendary Slash 4x4 VXL, which has a long history of durability and reliably stretching back over a decade. Similar to full-size high performance off-road vehicles, how the model is used and driven will largely determine how long parts last before requiring replacement. The parts never simply fail, there is always something like crash damage involved. Damage is also cumulative and even if a part did not break in all the previous crashes the damage on the part is still there. When it is damaged enough it will break. To date, we have provided the customer with a variety of replacement parts at no cost, as a customer courtesy, to help keep their Hoss running. Purchasing replacement parts and performing repairs are simply part of being successfully involved with this hobby. Running a 3 cell LiPo battery, as purchased by the customer, means the vehicle is capable of speeds in excess of 60mph and advertised as a skill level 4 or 5 model, depending on setup. This means: Skill level 4: Previous experience with radio controlled models is mandatory. Models require detailed setup, and/or maintenance procedures with required support equipment. These models are capable of very high speeds and require an even higher level of skilled driving control." -or- Skill level 5: For Expert Drivers Only. Previous experience with nitro-powered radio controlled models is required! These models, capable of extreme speed and acceleration, are intended for expert drivers only. There are several things that can be done to reduce the wear and tear seen by the model during use. Activating Training Mode on the VXL-3s speed control will reduce the speeds and, by extension, the parts broken during use. The customer could also run a 2s LiPo. We have also advised the customer on proper maintenance and procedures for running in wet conditions. Unfortunately, we do not cover driving style, crash damage, part longevity, wear and tear, etc., but are happy to help get the customer whatever parts are needed to keep their Hoss running. They can order parts from Traxxas.com, call and speak with our customer service staff who can help identify broken components if needed, or visit a local hobby shop. The local dealer is usually the fastest way to find replacement parts, and as one of our best-selling models many stores will have parts in stock for the Hoss.

      i bought a rc car from traxxas and electronic speed controller died after 2 weeks. I sent in the ESC for rma. they said they will replace the ESC when they get more back in stock. i asked when this would be and they said they dont know. It could be a year later before i receive a replacement. I am now out 800$. what traxxas is doing is borderline criminal imo.

Unfortunately, global logistical challenges have created some minor delays in our ability to restock our most popular products. Out of stock items are typically already on the way and arrive soon after the backorder is placed. In this case, the customer's repair arrived at our facility on 1/3/2022, and the replacement shipped to the customer on 1/7/2022.
