1 starI made an appointment to view a car. The sales man sent me a video of the car on the lot and advised it was available. I got to my appointment Saturday and was told the salesmen was with another customer. My husband was outside viewing the outside of the vehicle. I got sat with someone and he said that car is not here. When I advised the car was outside and my husband had already seen the outside. He then said OH they wont sell you that car. They found an issue and they wont sell it. I was then called Monday by another salesmen asking about my appointment. I told him I was disappointed and he said well I do see the car is still available. Then I told him all I was told Saturday. He then backtracked and said oh well let me look into that. I asked for a manager to call me back and 2 days later still no return call.Review fromBrandon S

1 starI recently had one of the worst car-buying experiences at this Toyota dealership. I came in with a *********** pre-qualification, a valid drivers license, and auto insurance, fully prepared to test drive and potentially purchase a vehicle. However, I was immediately dismissed when I requested a test drive.Instead of allowing me to drive the car before discussing financialswhich is standard practice in every car purchase *** madethe dealership insisted that I complete the financial process first. This was highly unusual and made no sense, especially considering I was already pre-qualified. They didnt even bother pulling my pre-qualification before outright denying me the ability to test drive.I truly believe this treatment was racially motivated and intended to make me feel unwelcome. I was treated like I didnt belong there, as if I wasnt a serious buyer, despite having all the necessary credentials. It was clear they had no intention of selling me a car.If you value fair and professional treatment, I strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere. This dealership lacks respect for potential customers and operates with clear bias.Avoid this place at all costs.Review fromBrian B

1 starAfter negotiating them down by $8,000 from an initially very padded starting point vs. advertised price and fair trade value, I agreed to buy a used luxury SUV at something close to the advertised price I came in for. In financing I was asked if I would be interested in a supplemental cosmetic insurance policy covering dings, glass, and rims for $1,300. It was never mentioned this $1,300 was per year for 5 years. I never saw a single reference to the total amount added to my purchase price while in with finance or on any document I actually signed. In the end they added $9,715 across two auxiliary service and insurance products to my loan, which I definitely did not see once at signing. The following Monday I had to request my purchase agreement and loan agreement as I was strangely not provided anything on the spot. I didn't push back on this as I intended to use my credit union to finance the loan. I immediately noticed this amount when provided my documents. There were several documents with my e-signature that I absolutely had not seen or signed directly. I do finance/accounting for a living and I did not miss anything along the way. This was fraud and I believe it was purposeful. After seeing some of these reviews it is clearly intentional and a pattern of abuse.Review fromDavid G

1 starThis was the worst dealership buying experience of my life! Dishonest, disorganized, and the price went up 8K when I got to the finance ***** Everything we agreed upon changed and was added in to the purchase price. After talking to the manager with my concerns about the added 8K he laughed at me. I have never in my life had an experience like this! Con artists! Scammers! Toyota of Richardson is the reason people HATE going to dealerships. Avoid Toyota of Richardson at all costs! I left a 1 star review only because I could not leave a 0 star review!Review fromBAHRAM E

1 starThis is what happened to us when we tried to buy a RAV4 XLE at TOYOTA OF RICHARDSON and put $2,500 on it. I told them repeatedly that I didn't want GAP. It was OPTIONAL, ______ SAID, it was recommend to every customer to get GAP______SAID.WE DIDNT WANT GAP, _____ ADDED ANYWAY GAP-PLUS INTEREST. ______SAID-We can cancel it in a few months, comes off at the end.But what actually comes off? Both the interest and the cost of the **** Then there's the SERVICE CONTRACT, the one that's FREE-______SAID-THE ONE THAT'S ADDED AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT. NOTHINGS FREE, ______CHARGED ME $2,645 PLUS INTEREST THAT I COULD NEVER USE AND TOLD _____ I WOULDNT DRIVE FROM ALEDO TO RICHARDSON FOR AN OIL CHANGE.______kept insisting it was FREE "SOMETHING EVERY CAR TOYOTA OF RICHARDSON SELLS COMES WITH A FREE 2-YEAR SERVICE CONTRACT". BUT THERE IT IS PAGE 2-N-OTHER CHARGES-SERVICE CONTRACT-$2,645 PLUS INTEREST. Then there's the CARFAX, the one I signed for and it was whisked away and I never got to see. Was told they would email it to me, THEY NEVER DID for 4 days so My Wife did some research it was a clean title so clean it had nothing on it for 4 years but the body told a different story. Another dealer bought the car in 2023 had it for 9 months took it to auction and Toyota of Richardson bought it a few months ago. Then we came along and thought we found the perfect car, we we're fooled. When I brought the car back, they laughed at me, told me my credit would be ruined. If I paid them $1,900, they would keep it off my credit report. REALLY IS THAT LEGAL? We did buy a NEW CAR-2024 TOYOTA RAV4 XLE PREMIUM FROM FAMILY TOYOTA OF ******** THE LARGEST SELLING TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN *********** WITH A REAL SERVICE CONTRACT THAT DIDNT COST ME A THING ONE I CAN USE ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL US AND WE THOUGHT TOYOTA OF RICHARDSON AND _____ OF ALL PEOPLE ____ WERE HONEST. YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN SOMETHING ******'S A SHAME YOU HAVE TO SELECT A STAR AT ALL THEY DONT DESERVE ONEReview fromAnthony M

1 starI wish that I had researched this dealership before doing business with them. We are in the same boat as many others according to the reviews, but Toyota of Richardson has managed to get away with sending computer-generated default replies to all of the complaints and bad reviews via BBB, which means they do not care about improving their business practices and will continue to operate this way until legal action is enforced on this horrible greedy dealership! We purchased a 2022 Platinum AWD Toyota Highlander from Toyota of Richardson with a list price of $39,855 on 6/21/2024 with a cash down payment of $6,000. However, we received no paperwork and left the dealership without the contract or transaction receipts in our hands because we were told: "The system is down nationwide". The vehicle set of tires did not have adequate tread on them and was deemed unsafe to drive, so ******* ********* **** up a document that stated Toyota of Richardson would install a new set of tires on the vehicle at no cost to us. We still have not received a copy of this particular document. We then returned the following week to have the new set of tires installed and at that time, Toyota of Richardson still had not finalized our paperwork and given us a copy, but they kept asking for our driver's license. After several phone calls to the dealership requesting our paperwork and almost five (5) weeks of waiting for Toyota of Richardson to provide our documents, we finally received a document via email on 7/23/24 from ***** *****. After finally getting the opportunity to review the document, we found a couple of discrepancies that needed to be corrected expeditiously. My wife and I opted out of all additional warranty and service plans. We were never allowed to review the contract at the time of the transaction on 6/21/24 by any representative of Toyota of Richardson, which is part of their scheme. In short, they added $3285 in fees and service plans that we DID NOT agree to!Review fromKerolos Y

1 starTheyre running a scam. Will get you in the door and put $4,000 mandatory packages. Stay away if your health is important to you. (Btw; when you uncover their scam, theyll tell you the vehicle is sold)Review fromRobert G

1 starDO NOT SHOP HERE. ZERO STARS. I visited 2 weeks ago, and after a week, I still haven't received any paperwork from the sale. I admit I should have checked the terms more carefully, and demanded the paperwork then but I was pressed for time during my lunch break. I came in preapproved with ************ I told them this and was expecting to pay around $19-22k for a car. Instead, the total finance charge came to $30k for a 2020 **** Escape. And that's with my Credit score being 700+. They added a $3500 restoration charge on a nearly new car with only one previous owner, which is outrageous. What are you restoring? I also opted for the service agreement, but no one explained what it covered, and I still don't have the paperwork. They promised not to run my credit with multiple lenders, yet they did. I had to sign paperwork quickly and leave for work, only to find out later that my credit was run multiple times. They kept the vehicle overnight for supposed servicing and detailing, but it wasn't done, not even washer fluid was added. The service was abysmal. Don't end up paying $30-40k for a car listed at $19k. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. I've never had issues like this at Toyota of Plano. As of now, I still don't have all the paperwork and am planning my next stepsReview fromElizabeth H

1 starSaw a vehicle advertised for $32,988 (April 2024) and spent a lot of time with them about it. Asked for detailed pricing and was told they don't give final pricing until test driven, etc. etc... when I finally got the final price it was $39,550! Tax is 6.5% which would be $2145 and fees are typicall $499 plus $150 to being generous add another $1k which would give $36,143 as the top end final price. They are bait and switching, in this case to the tune of an additional $3,145! Check their CarGurus reviews as well to see that this has been a long standing practice. Frustrating, a waste of time and feels deceitful.Review fromSS M

1 starDrove several hours to dealership when we got there checked out the vehicle and was ready to make a deal only to be told they were adding another 4K to the price called dealership fees when I asked what thats for I was told the dealership has to make money. Then I asked what am I paying for couldnt explain it to me. Told them to get my check and I was leaving I was told that I didnt know what I was doing that Im from out of town and every dealership does this kind of backwards hidden fees. I said I was down here in the pretense of the car being a lower amount but for them to tryin make the money on the back end seemed questionable. When they realized I was serious and would leave they took 3K off. I told them I wouldnt be paying the 995 all they removed was the remaining ****** and told me the vehicle is coming with a second key that I have to pay the ****** for that on a used vehicle. Once they also found out I had outside financing I was told repeatedly that they werent making any money and I had outside financing so more or less I should be grateful they are selling the car to me. Definitely felt once they found out I wasnt financing with them they drug there feet made the deal take longer customer service was out the window. Wouldnt recommend if youre trying to feel like youre working with an honest place. Felt completely misled.
