The ultimate problem is this: we took our car into Rockwall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for motor work and when they were finished 104 days later, we now need over $3,500 in transmission work that was not an issue before they replaced the motor. Our 100-day limited warranty ran out while the car was in the shop for an extended time and without the repairs being completed. Here is a timeline of events:October 4, 2023 (invoice # ******, $6,626.36): We brought our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for a check engine light. We were notified initially that it needed a new cylinder head. We were then notified that it needed a new engine. December 18, 2023 (invoice # ******, $1,778.50): We picked up our Jeep after having the engine replaced and the drive shaft replaced. Per their report, the drive shaft was broken by their mechanic on December 9, 2023, while repairing the engine and thus needed replacement. December 19, 2023: After picking the car up a day earlier and after having a new engine put in, the car began leaking large amounts of oil while driving and while parked. December 27, 2023 invoice # ******): We returned the car to the dealer after returning home from Christmas. We were notified that the rear main bearing seal needed to be replaced. January 25, 2024: We were notified that the engine repairs were complete, but that it now also needed to have the transmission pump and torque converter replaced. The estimate for repairs was $3,500. Before Rockwall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram replaced our engine and subsequently repaired the rear main bearing seal on the engine, we did not have any problems with our transmission. After they removed the transmission to replace the seal between December 27, 2023, and January 25, 2024, the transmission was newly damaged and problems concerning the transmission were reported for the first time. Our 100-day warranty is now up (it ran out while in the shop) and the transmission is critically damaged. Warranty: 100 days from 9/26/2023.Customer Answer

Hi there!
The business offered for us to pay for repair the error that was incurred while the vehicle was in their care as a result of the complaint. We felt as if we had no choice but to oblige and pay nearly $3,000 to repair the Jeep - my sons needed the car and we did not have another affordable option. They never agreed that they were at fault and did not offer any additional, more affordable resolution options besides the partially reduced repair price.

I purchased a 2010 **** Mustang from Rockwall Dodge in November of 2022. During the test drive, the A/C stopped working. The sales associate at the time said it was a sticky button and actuators that needed to be replaced. I purchased the car with the understanding there was not any A/C issues. As I drive the vehicle off the lot, the rear end feels like it is going to fall off. I pull over and see the wheel is missing 3 lug nuts. I call the sales associate and he aske me "what do you want me to do?" I was astonished but eventually they sent out the mechanic and replaced the lug nuts that were missing. No follow-up call to discuss the safety issue that the mechanic and quality missed. This could have been a tragic situation had my son been driving and on the highway I called several times, left messages and no one ever called me. Soon after purchase we began having issues with the A/C. I was told by Dodge it was the actuator again in February, it was replaced. and it went out immediately and took it back to Dodge in March 27th. They said there was nothing they could do and sent it to **** March 27. They took it to **** and authorized a different actuator repair. During the repair the tech found out it was the blower motor that quit working. Dodge has been sitting on this repair for 2 weeks. Dodge keeps saying they are waiting for Rockwall **** to send them the estimate. The dealership is within walking distance since they are next door to one another. *** in sales doesn't call me back, **** in service is worthless and pretty much told me to figure it out. I am unhappy that Dodge lied to me about the car just to make a sale and never follows up with me regarding the repair.Business Response

I truly apologize your experience hasn't been 100% perfect, as we strive for perfect customer service, sometimes we fall short. You purchased your pre-owned 2010 **** Mustang on Nov 9 2022. As part of the used car inspection all of our pre owned vehicles go through, we did replace an ** actuator. All of our pre owned vehicles are sold and disclosed to the consumer as being "AS-IS" with no dealer warranty. Three months and over 5k miles later, you came to our service department with complaints of the ** not working properly and we paid to send it to a **** dealership for you to have it repaired. Even though the vehicle was sold AS-IS with no dealer warranty, we paid for the **** dealership to make the repair. Two months later, in April, you visit us again with the ** not working properly. The ** is now being diagnosed with a bad blower motor fan, while before it was a bad actuator. Again, with no dealer warranty, we take it to the **** dealership and pay for the repair for you. I understand you are again having problems with the **, and I truly apologize. We have asked you to take the vehicle to the **** dealership to be diagnosed properly and you refuse, wanting us to take it to **** for you. We would be more than happy to take it in for you, but we have been unable to have an appointment time established with the other dealership, which is why we are asking for you to take it there instead of us. If the same component is failed, they will fix it. If a different component failed, we can address options at that point.Customer Answer

Since the purchase of the vehicle we have had it in various dealerships and auto repair shops. The car has been in the shop more than we have owned it. **** no longer manufactures the **** All of the issues we have had since purchasing this car were due to the *** going out. Now Im left with a 13k car note and a vehicle I cannot drive. They sold a vehicle that cannot be repaired because **** no longer makes the parts. Happy to pull together all of the invoices and out of pocket I have paid. The car sits in a lot and cannot be driven because parts are no longer made, Crazy dealerships can sell vehicles when the cars cannot be repaired. It is a ploy to get me in and buy another car when I owe!!!! $13k.Initial Complaint

First, this issue happened at Rockwall Dodge dealership but I know Dallas Dodge is parent company. I bought my 2022 Ram 1500 back in November of 2021 from Rockwall Dodge. I overpaid for the vehicle knowingly cause of the times we're in. I did not have a problem with that. My problems started a week into having my truck. The large screen / car play ( I really don't know correct terminology) but the screen would black out, drop calls, stop navigating, blackout back up screen. So worried but not worried enough that I waited for my first covered oil change. The service assistant said I would have to leave my truck there for 3 days to diagnose. I offered to drop off since I'm 15' away when I was next line as I use my truck for work. He said no, and did not offer a loaner or rental. A month later the screen blacks out while driving. So I decide to take while it's actively doing it ( as I'm only 15' away) when I get there the attendant ( same one as last time) says nothing he could do except leave for the 3 days for diagnosis. I said that wont work & I needed to call Ram complaints line. He gives me a number where I later find out they have nothing to do with Ram but a sub contracted complaint number. Where Aubrina tells me I now have a set appointment at 9:30 am on Wednesday morning. Where I would wait & pick up vehicle same day & I didn't want same service advisor. Well I show up in time and same useless service advisor tells me again that I would need to leave vehicle for 2-3 days, and I'd have to get a rental where I would have to pay some out of pocket. So I do! Comes Friday at noon i call Rkwall dodge & then they tell me they wont even look at my truck till the following Monday. Im upset call Ram complaints & Aubrina decides to take offf early for a 3 day weekend. They did not even take care of Recall items as they said they would same day. I've called Rockwall Dodge to speak to service director, leave 2 voice mails & no response. I call Dalllas Dodge service direct.Business Response

ok in sept of 2021 i had found a car at rock wall doge that was the same make i had upon purching one in greenville tn that i had to let go back after the car had proclems with it that cosist of the sensors n safety concerns about it and iwas was informed by M.V. of tx and the bank where i had gotten the first car from they was not fixing the issue and to ask them to bbuy the car back because of the safety concerns. so i got my money back and the bank did to and the deal was closed. so when i found this car the maxium platium by nissian on dodge web site because it was the same car i had just let go back it was just a different color and when i call about it i told them i was calling about a car i found they let me speak to a saleman and that person was lesi ******** and i spoke to her about the car and she said to let her check onit cause she believe it was out to have te process to be checked out to make sure every thing was ok and she would call me when the car was back it might be a day or two so i had let her no of the situation i had went thew with a car i just let got back the bank did and we all got our money back n the deal nissian have beencontack i let the no bbb n MV tx was contack n was told i did right the cari said no in a accident or had rusted roders on the wheel and did not want one that has problems cause i am going to b putting too much money down on the car like $14000 dollar and i dont want one that has any recalls or fender benders . alot of the paper work i signed is missing the resist paper resist all i would like my money back its a scam not even on google just a number on papers n my carfax missing that i cant type everything in this space so my main thing is the paint is comming off the car only on one side the heater dont work properly and the sensor light comes on like the one she said the other care was not supose to sale me the car until thats fix same problem the speedmeter reads differnt numbers so i really dont no to believe.Business Response

I truly apologize to ***** ***** if she is unhappy with her purchase, however eight months of ownership, purchasing on Sept 29, 2021, is a bit outside of any reasonable return policy and we would not be able honor Ms. *****' request to unwind the deal. We disclose, have a customer sign, and give a copy of the CarFax, as well as other purchase documents, to every customer who purchases a pre-owned car. In the event Ms. ***** misplaced her copies, I am overnighting a copy of the CarFax she signed to her address of record, as well as any customer signed copies we have on file. The CarFax showed zero accidents or damage history. The CarFax did show consistent maintenance records and the correct mileage reported every time a completed service was reported. Because of this, there is no evidence of any tampering on this car. If Ms. ***** would like, she can bring the vehicle to us and we can put the correct air pressure in her tires to remove the sensor light and have our service department see if there is a problem with her heater. Customer made her salesperson aware of an issue with paint, along with a warning light, odometer reading and rusty brake rotors prior to the BBB complaint and the sales manager addressed it, stating to bring the car in to our service department. The issue made to the sales person and sales manager came to us on April 30, 2022, about 8 months after the sale of the car from Sept 29, 2021. Unfortunately we do not have an availability of loaner cars due to a nationwide inventory shortage, but we would still be happy to examine and address any issues. Customer did not want to leave the car without a loaner car, so instead of bringing it, customer sent us an email containing pictures. While the pictures show a couple of areas that appears to be paint peeling, we have no way to diagnose a problem or give a solution without physically examining the car. The picture of the odometer (I have attached) shows the odometer on the trip "B" setting. This would only show the miles from where the trip odometer was last "tripped" and not the true odometer reading. There is also a warning light alerting the driver door is open. I am not sure this is the same alert light the consumer is speaking about, but again, we would be more than happy to look at and address for the consumer. I must have assumed consumer was referring to a tire pressure light. I am not aware of a sensor for rusty brake rotors, as surface rust on a brake rotor is a normal occurrence after rainy weather that comes right off as soon as the vehicle is driven. Again, I do apologize to the consumer if there is any unhappiness or confusion, but I have tried to reach out to offer to bring the vehicle to our service department in hopes of addressing any possible issues with the car. On March 29, 2022 I purchased a 2010 Chrysler Sebring from Rockwall Chrysler Dodge Jeep & Ram, in the total amount of $5,800. About 2 weeks later engine light & throttle control sensor lights appeared. I ended up stranded at a gas station & had to have the vehicle towed home. I contacted the service department at Rockwall Chrysler Dodge Jeep & Ram, as well as the saleswoman who sold me the vehicle. The service department advised to bring the vehicle in & that there would be no charge "in a case like this", per service department. It was about a week later when I was finally able to start the vehicle to get it to the service department (I could not afford another tow). After leaving the vehicle at the service department, I received a call the following day from the service department & was advised of $2,100 in repairs & that I would need to pay half of that cost because I purchase "as is". UNACCEPTABLE!! I was promised a RELABLE vehicle & that is not what I received. I never expected to be stranded in the vehicle 2 weeks later. The vehicle is still at the service department, as it has been for over a week now & it is still not repaired!! This is the definition of bad business!Business Response

On May 3, 2022 ******** ***** brought the 2010 Sebring with 171,807 miles on the odometer to the service department at Rockwall Dodge with a concerns of the check engine light turning off and on, the throttle control light turning off and on, and long starts to turn over. Our service advisor agreed to diagnose the vehicle at no charge due to a little a month after purchase, but made no promises regarding the cost of repairs. Upon diagnoses, our technician was able to duplicate the customer's concerns and determined a new throttle body would fix the issue with the check engine light and the throttle control light. Our tech saw that replacing the cam position sensor would fix the long start problem. The total cost of all repairs came out to around $2200, but because of the recent purchase, even though there was no warranty expressed or implied, and ******** ***** purchased the vehicle acknowledging twice per our documentation the Sebring is sold "AS-IS" / no warranty, our sales department at Rockwall Dodge offered to pay for half of the service bill, splitting it with ******** *****. When this offered was made to ******** *****, it was not sufficient and work was not authorized. As the general manager I became involved and made the decision to reduce the cost of the repair bill by taking parts and labor to cost, and still have the sales department pay half and ******** ***** pay half. Now the customer's part to pay was around $800. Work was authorized and completed and the customer was notified the Sebring was ready for pickup. As of May 16, 2022, the Sebring has not been picked up. We inspect every vehicle we sell, but on a vehicle that is 12 years old and over 165,000 miles on the odometer, there will be risks of mechanical failure. This is why every used car we sell has a Used Car Buyer's Guide in the window, and later signed by the customer, stating "AS-IS / No Warranty." This is why we offered to pay half of the repair, and even reduced costs of the repair and still pay half, even though the vehicle came back to the shop 35 days after purchase and 4,799 miles added to the odometer. I did bring the the vehicle in approximately 35 days after purchasing "as is", due to the vehicle would not start after & had to be towed to my residence (approximately 2 1/2 weeks after purchasing, which resulted in my 1st phone call to the service department, when the Service Advisor advised me to bring the vehicle in for a diagnosis). It was approximately 2 weeks later when I was finally able to get the vehicle to start, so that I could take it & drop it off at the service department. So that's why it took approximately 35 days total before I was able to deliver the vehicle. My vehicle has not been picked up yet due to the unexpected cost of the repairs so soon after paying $5,800 for the total purchase of the vehicle. Since Rockwall CSJR will not honor the repair cost in full, I now have to wait until June 1st to make the payment & pick up my vehicle. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/05/25) */ While I definitely understand the customer's frustration - just purchased a car and having a mechanical issue in the first month of ownership, there are mechanical risks of purchasing a pre-owned car with no warranty, especially a car 12 years old with 167,000 miles. All of our vehicles are inspected for major mechanical repairs before sale. This Sebring passed our inspection and the risks of future mechanical failure were explained to the consumer. Attached is the "AS-IS" notice signed by the consumer that states "AS-IS - NO DEALER WARRANTY" "THE DEALER DOES NOT PROVIDE A WARRANTY FOR ANY REPAIRS AFTER THE SALE." This was explained to the consumer and signed by the consumer on both pages of the notice. The consumer states they are aware the vehicle was purchased in "AS-IS" condition. This notice also lists possible major defects that may occur in used motor vehicles. The fact that mechanical problems started after over 4,700 miles were placed on the odometer, shows that the consumer purchased an operable vehicle with no major mechanical issues. However, Rockwall Dodge does understand the frustration of our customer and offered a resolution. With no promise of warranty, written or expressed, we do want to help our customers. We placed all parts and labor for repair at cost, and split the bill so our customer only has to pay half of our cost, which comes out to about $800. With this offer, the consumer authorized Rockwall Dodge to complete the repair. While I understand the consumer wants Rockwall Dodge to pay the entire bill for the repair, we feel after 4799 miles were placed on the odometer after purchase of a 12 year old car with 167,000 miles already on the odometer, and the consumer is aware there is no warranty on the vehicle purchased, Rockwall Dodge is being more than fair by charging $800 for a $2100 repair and will not be paying for the entire repair.
