Took a 2009 ***** Aveo in for a diagnostic check to see if it was worth buying. They said for a bit over $200 they could check the engine. They first say the vehicle needed ~$1400 to correct all problems. I agreed to pay that and bought the car from the seller. Then I started getting call's saying now it needed another $1000. Then another few hundred. Final price was more than 2 times the original price. Total was $3700. Was told not to worry about the check engine light. If I was willing to spend another $300 - $400, then that problem could be addressed but the car was way more reliable. The mechanic actually told me the car was not drivable when he started. I asked, then how did I drive it up here? Also, the car broke down on the way home when I stopped for gas. I had to get a jump start. When I called the shop, they said they do not offer 'mobile service'. It didn't break down getting to the shop, just leaving.

****************, I apologize for your experience and your situation. What you fail to mention is that you were appraised of everything going on with your vehicle. The vehicle needed much work and you were so advised from the beginning. The reason for the additional charges was because the vehicle was not drivable when we received it. Once we corrected the timing issue and were able to drive the vehicle we realized you had drivetrain issues. You were made aware of this and you approved all additional work, nothing was done on the vehicle that you did not approve. As far as the unfortunate situation with the vehicle not starting, that was due to a weak battery and nothing to do with the work that we performed, furthermore while you are correct that we told you that we did not have a mobile service we did send a mechanic to your location even though it was after hours and the issue had nothing do with the work we performed. You managed to get a jump on your vehicle, before our mechanic reached you, but he did reach you and was more than ready to help. While unfortunate I just ask that you tell the complete story and know that we stand by our work 100%, your vehicle has warranty and if any work we performed fails we will be kore than happy to re do it. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at ************, thank you and have a nice day.

I am rejecting this response because:

you had the opportunity to fix the problem when you had the vehicle.  I want to be reimbursed for whatever it costs me to get the vehicle running.

    Regards,

The customer called the shop and the vehicle will be picked up to be re-checked on Monday 05/22/23. At that point the work performed will be re-checked, the customer will be given all information regarding the vehicle as he was given initially.

I am rejecting this response because:
I am getting a second opinion from another mechanic first.

The car was taken in for a hood latch, I was told by lead mechanic ***** the water pump needed to be replaced after running diagnostic. Picked the car up and paid **** for the Job and drove the car home. 3 days later the car was pulled out the garage and immediately starting pouring out coolant. called **** and explained the car wasn't leaking any fluid when it arrived, and it was confirmed by ****'s mechanic it had held coolant pressure with no leaks when it first arrived. I was told it was something else creating the problems. I was told it would cost more money and we would be good to go. I then receive another phone call from lead mechanic ***** again stating the car was ready but this time the Dual Fan now wasn't running. The Fan was working just fine when the car was towed back to his shop. I had explained that these problems are problems being made by his mechanics and not pre existing problems. This I said was considered gauging and more considered breaking things instead of fixing them. Tried to address the situation with **** but was denied buy lead mechanic *****. Once again the car is still broken and other parts have been broken as well.
