I suffer from TMJ. I called Alamo ENT Associates and specifically asked "do your providers treat TMJ patients" I was told "yes" and scheduled with ****************. The week before my appointment I called again to verify that **************** is able to treat TMJ patients and again was told yes, later that day I emailed over all my TMJ relates records. My appointment was 10/23 at 11am, I was not seen by the provider till 12:15pm. I asked **************** if he had seen my records he expressed disgust & said "no but you can tell me what's going on". I began to speak on my previous *************** issue when he interrupted me and said "I can tell you right now you're not going to get any relief unless you see this dentist and get a mouthguard". I tried to explain that I have a mouth splint prescribed from my dentist and was again interrupted for him to say "that one doesn't work, if you have pain it's not working I have done this job for a long time, until you see this guy you are going to keep having pain". I asked him "is there anything he could do for me as I made this appointment, I had the understanding that you sees TMJ patients". He then in a very aggressive tone said "I do see them, I am seeing you right now". I said I know but do you provide treatment? He said "this is what I do I have been doing this for a long time and I refer people out after I evaluate them. At this point in my visit I have had no evaluation or even a review of my PMH by ****************. He told me the provider he was referring me to and I told him I have looked into that clinic and they do not accept insurance, the treatment is too expensive for me at this time is why I am here first; his response was then "well you need to find the money or you're going to stay in pain I can tell you right now he's the best and that's were you need to go". There was silence for a few then he asked if I needed anything else. I said no and he said "Okay, I am going to order an MRI and I want to see you again in a month".
