Booked via AmeriSafe movers. Chose them since they were reviewed very highly. They sold my move to Jackson. Jackson showed up with a 20 foot truck that was already halfway full to move my entire 10x20 ft FULL storage unit. I was very very clear when I made the reservation that it was FULL. I was quoted $3800 for my move from ******* to ***********. Naturally, Jackson shows up and wants over $9000 for my move, so nearly THREE TIMES as much as quoted. And, they can't fit my stuff on their truck and now they have to come back tomorrow. They pick up my stuff then disappear for two weeks. No communication, won't answer calls. Finally, they call me on a Saturday to tell me they're arriving SUNDAY and oh, now they want CASH for the remaining $4000 balance. On a weekend. When the banks are closed. When I tell them I can't access that kind of cash until the bank opens Monday morning, I have 3 people harassing me - calling, texting and threatening me. They tell me they're showing up Sunday at 7 am regardless. I tell them I'm happy to accept delivery if they work out another form of payment (zelle? venmo?) but unless they can make banks open Sunday I can't pay them cash.Sunday morning I get another harrassing set of texts threatening me. They tell me they're waiting for me and I need to pay them $150 for every hour that I am "unavailable". I tell them this doesn't change the fact that I can't get them cash until Monday morning. So now, they tell me they are adding $950 on to my bill, for a total of over $10k for a move that I was quoted $3800 for. They are adding this fee because I was "unavailable to take delivery" when they showed up demanding $4000 in cash on a Sunday. Guess what? Today is Sunday, tomorrow is Monday, and after reading all of these reviews I can now see who I am dealing with. The sad thing is, I tried to avoid this in the first place by picking a well reviewed company (AmeriSafe), but I was sold to Jackson movers anyway.Business Response

My story is like every other complaint Ive read here, only difference is the amount were were screwed out of. Was quoted via a binding estimate(where every single item, size, weight, was included, nothing additional added) of $12,5XX. Day of move the ******* says oh no its going to be $29,7XX, feel free to contact another moving outfit. Mind you, the vehicles are already en route on an auto transporter, airline tickets are purchased, house is fully packed, fridge is empty, et cetera, so after discussing with my better half, we say s**** it; and decide to move forward with Jackson Movers. They shoved a ton of revised paperwork under my nose, pull a complete bait & switch as I originally opted for FULL COVERAGE REPLACEMENT which they valued at $76,***, yet then told me to initial the box for $.60/lb option. Never provided us with an inventory list, and coincidentally the moving team on the delivery side of the move, lost the inventory list, arrived 12 days after the promised date, and everything was destroyed, missing, or looked like it was drug behind a truck down a muddy road. I complete the claim process, which ended up with over $10,000 in stolen/missing items, and roughly $35,000 in destroyed, damaged, FUBR items. I submit everything exactly as instructed, received a confirmation email that they received my claim, then a week or so later, I received an offer for compensation in the amount of $75. This company runs a perfectly planned/staged/wear-you-down SCAM. Looking back on every aspect of this nightmare, I now see every action was planned to keep us totally baffled, frazzled, with no idea which way was up. They totally preyed on the entire moving experience from start too nasty finish. Shame on yallBusiness Response

Eagle Moving Group made the initial assignment of our move to Jackson Movers, LLC. My move went from estimated $4800 to final of $8476, all for a one bedroom move which did not include any dining room furniture, large kitchen appliances, or living room furniture. For this I feel like we were over charged. They came into our home in ***** with numerous wardrobe and large boxes fully intending to add to our cost. Also, the loaders from Jackson in *****, took it upon themselves to pack bedroom drawer stuff into a large wardrobe box, which were all dumped into the extra large box. There were broken items. They also grouped smaller packed cartons into larger wardrobe boxes instead of loading what I had. At the destination, Jackson had local help to assist, so there were a total of six movers unloading the truck. During the unload in our master bedroom, someone damaged the door. I showed it to the lead mover and he shrugged it off stating they did not do it. Also, they were tasked with putting together our Sleep Number bed, but the loaders in ***** put the frame posts at the bottom of a wardrobe box and didn't tell anyone, so we had to dig through cartons until we could find them. We had a wet box that was placed in a garbage bag, with contents ruined which were pictures, and only half full so the others were missing. Also was missing 3 cartons on checklist but moving lead stated he saw them and just sign because he had to leave. Now we are missing small kitchen appliances (can opener, coffee grinder, Food Saver, etc) that were cartoned, shot glasses from around the world from our 40 years of marriage and cannot be replaced, among other things. Pictures that cannot be replaced, and a small expensive cooler. I communicated this to a ***************** person at Jackson to no avail, and via Moving Claims, received an offer of $60, which I refused. Jackson Movers, LLC is not stepping up to the plate and accepting accountability.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Not only do we have missing stuff and damage, some of the damage is irreplaceable, gathered over 41 years of travel in our marriage. Sometimes its not only about weight. We are missing hundreds of dollars worth of stuff, along with the damaged pictures and door in our NEW place. Not to mention the multiple increases in cost of a 1-bedroom move with no LR or DR ******************************************************************************

Dear *******, please accept our sincere apologies, you are right not everything can be measured by weight and we understand that some of those things are sentimental to you, I wish I could just snap my fingers and have those things back in perfect shape in your hands, but I cant so we need to start somewhere in order to bring this to closure and that is the contract we agreed upon, we cannot just cut your check.
So we ask again please send us a list of damaged items and the weight of each items and we will try to accommodate you as good as we can.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because it does not have an offer. While I received an offer via Moving Claims. It was just $110 which is unacceptable. Doesnt even cover the door that was damaged at our new place by Jackson Movers.Via email, I submitted more information to Jackson claims department, and am waiting to hear.

I am rejecting this response because they are only asking about damage. There are three missing cartons. If I were to estimate weight of everything I guess I would estimate ****** lbs. BUT, I want a fair offer to recognize the famed goods, the damaged door which I would have to pay for and is not part of the move. The door replacement alone is approximately $120. The LOST (not damaged) goods value over $500.There were three cartons not checked off the list and I only remember #***. Your guy told me he had seen all of them, but they must have gotten by me by all the help (two of yours and four locals). Your driver assured the boxes were here.
Missing:
******* cooler w/pull handle and wheels. I think your team may have put this in a large carton. We also loaded it with stuff we just don't remember what it was unfortunately. (15 lbs)About 40 shot glasses from around the world, with most from *******. We have gathered these for over 40-years in our travels. Some were wrapped and in an ice holder which is also missing. We will never be able to replace these and the memories that came with them. (15lbs)
Food Saver Vacuum Sealer w/bags. (4 lbs)
Small kitchen items: refrigerator magnets, bottle/can insulated coolers, coffee grinder, can opener. (15 lbs)Damage:
One carton was wet and placed in a bag, with half the contents appearing to be gone. One was a MASH cast b/w photo that had my image Photoshopped into it. I got this from my first retirement company, and it cannot be replaced. (10 lbs)
The door going into the master bath from the master bedroom was damaged. (35 lbs)
Charges:
Eagle first estimated $4800. Then it went up when Jackson spoke with me. Then it went up again when the movers arrived to load. Then it went up again when I got charged for packing when we had most stuff packed but your team came in my house already equipped with tape, and numerous cartons and wardrobe boxes. I ended up paying over $8400 for a one bedroom move with no dining or living room furniture.

Again we apologize for your inconvenience and we are truly sorry we could not do a better job handling your items, we understand the items have sentimental value.

To show good faith we are willing to work with you and offer you $250.thank you

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
While I understand the contract of valuation based on weight, their good faith offer does consider either our sentimental value OR the damaged door by their movers in our new home, but not both. With this being said, I will accept this offer so I can move on.

Initially the sales quotes $1700 and 5-7business days for delivery. Before pick up was adjusted to about $1900. When it's finally picked up its $2500...I really could care less about the money, but I just need my things delivered safely. It was picked up on 5/21. And it's now 6/1. And we called they said it's still in ********...Business Response

Jackson Movers was hired by another moving services broker company to conduct my long distance move from ***** to ********. It was repeatedly acknowledged through the broker and through Jackson Movers that the delivery of my belongings would be Tuesday, May 28th. A few days prior to the pickup date of Saturday, May 25th, Jackson Movers was fairly cooperative in reaching out to me to schedule a pickup time and what to expect when their truck shows up. On Saturday they loaded my belongings and explained to me that someone from the office would contact me to collect payment and on Tuesday my items would be delivered and I would have to be at the new address in person and to make the final payment upon delivery of my items. Monday comes around and I get no contact. Tuesday (estimated delivery day) nothing. Wednesday, nothing. It is almost Thursday and no one from Jackson Movers has called me to give me an update of my belonging. Since Monday I have tried dialing them and I get put on hold, sent to voicemail, and hung up on until someone finally tells me that my items are not being moved until I pay them. At this point the broker never explained I would also have to pay the movers too. I tell Jackson Movers how much do I owe them so we can get my things on the road but they forward me to someone from billing, which then sends me to voicemail. I have left several messages and no one will take my phone call to accept payment or tell me how to proceed. My belongings (which have been in their possession for almost a week) are still not here at my new city of work at my apartment and I have nothing here with no estimated delivery time.Business Response

I'm taking my complaint to the BBB for resolution. Despite paying Jackson Movers $2800, including an additional $300 not listed on the invoice, they arbitrarily charged me extra at the end but refused to update the invoice. This behavior is dubious and unprofessional. Jackson Movers is a nightmare! Not only did they damage my inventory, causing thousands in damages, but they're also ignoring the contract by refusing to reimburse me at .60 per pound for the destroyed items. Theyre only willing to reimburse back 133 lbs worth of damage. My items clearly weigh more than that. They exploit customers who skip extra insurance. My belongings were mishandled, resulting in a shattered TV, a ruined oak dresser, scratches everywhere, a broken lamp, air fryer, side table, and more. It's a scam! Had I known, I'd have handled the move myself to ensure my items stayed intact. Jackson Movers must be held accountable for their contract breach and negligence. Looking forward to a solution. I deserve what my contract stated, not $80 back.Business Response

On 12/6/23 Jackson Movers(JM) moved our belongings from a ***** sf house in ***** to a local storage unit. We had moved to ** in Oct 23 but were unable to sell the ** house sooner. We requested a delivery date to MA of 1/11/24, not knowing the actual arrival date would be 1/24/24. ****** wanted his $5000 right up front before he even opened his doors. Our belongings looked stuffed in there. Boxes were sideways (even though they said fragile) upside down, stacked all the way to the top, falling on the movers, just generally disorganized and a mess. There were multiple families belongings in the truck without any type of separation between them and we even got some of someone elses belongings. We tried to keep up with marking off items and inspecting things that were unloaded but with 4 movers doing that it was difficult to keep up. All the items damaged were large furniture items that (JM) disassembled, packed, wrapped and loaded in *****. Some furniture can't be put back together due to damage. A permanent rock wall was hit by their truck and damaged when they left. We were outside when it occurred and the drivers assistant yelled to watch out so they were very aware. I filled out the first of 3 damage claims on 2/8/24, which were rejected for various reasons. The first time it took me over 8 hours to fill this out including all moving documents, damaged items, prices, weights, photos and receipts. On 3/11/24 we received an email telling us that the settlement would be $89.00. We immediately called ***************************** at (JM) regarding this. She said she would have an answer the next day. We have since left her multiple phone messages and emails and have not heard back from her. We felt pressured into signing the paperwork due to our ignorance in intrastate moving and the new owners would be taking possession of the house the next day. As per the ******* Amendment, the carrier is liable for the damage, regardless of how the damage was caused.Business Response
