I have been renting an apartment complex that is way to high. Not only that but the complex has been "settling" since it has been hot and cold. My theory is that with the cold snowy weather outside and me having to switch on the heater the wood is expanding. These apartment's were built in the late 1970's or the 1980's with litte to no maintenance. The shingles on the roof are blowing away, the door/windows have pretty big gaps in them. The boards around the windows and door are disatching. The beams holding the stair Cases up are barely holding, they been kicked out but just pushed back in. I've spoken to my landlord about it all and he promises too make changes but never does. I've called the local town police department to ask for legal help and they told me they couldn't do much for me even though I kept telling them I am worried for the tenants there. They told me to go to the court house to talk to Justice of the peace so I did, then I was told they could not help me either. They gave me a legal number which I was on hold for about 45 minutes, then hung up on. I just want to dismiss the rest of my lease without having to pay anything or it looking bad on my history. I have paid 565 since August. And since then took my brother to the ** twice because he got sick with the flu, it then turned into phenomena, because I couldn't keep the apartment warm enough at that time. I also had a trip to the ** and doctor for a cold. And my electricity bill jumped up to about almost 200. I just want some help to understand what I can do.
