So, we trusted this business (******) to do our taxes for the last 3 or 4 years. This year we had to our taxes digitally, so all the documents were sent to us like always after we have signed everything. Come to find out our tax preparer has been charging us over $1000 to our taxes this year and over $1300 last year. Years before that it has been $455, so I had to reach out to him. He basically says he'll give me $100-200 back. That he doesn't typically do this. WTF ???!!!! No ***** you owe me over $1400. Plus, if you did nithing wrong then why even offer anything at all. He says his system does the calculations, he does not choose what to charge, and that we agreed to this. He has never told us what he is going to charge us, he just submits the paperwork, and we find out when we get our paperwork back. Didn't think anything of it because it's been around $455 each time until this year.Last year we signed paperwork in his office, he sits the documents in front of us and says sign here, sign here, initial here, initial there, with only a split second between each signature or initial. At no time did he say, oh by the way , I'm charging you over $1300 for this tax preparation. This year he hounds us about taxes. He was more excited than we were. This should have been my 3rd or 4th red flag. But no this is someone I thought we could trust so maybe he's just looking out for us. Nope, go to review the documents and we noticed how much he has been charging us. ******* his system and it charges per W-2. He tells me call around, do your research, so I do and a reputable lucrative business says they could do our taxes for $468, including all W-2, state tax form, and they do not charge for additional W-2 until after 3. So, now I go back with the information I was given and he is now saying it's because he's "private owned". I understand an increase, but a $600-900 increase !!! THAT'S RIDICULOUS !!! Plus, he tried to hide it from us.
