1 starMy SpareBox Storage is in *********, ** (behind ********** S. **** St.) Originally my contract that they took on from previous owners said my rent was $60/mo for a 10'x10', because I'm on low income/disability. My rent has been raised up every month since 2001. Well, in June/2024, I was supposed to pay $144, but, they jumped it again To $170/mo without ANY LEGIT, LEGAL REASON AT ALL!!! And I did not agree to it at all! They keep saying it's part of our contract agreement. No, They have my original contract & every month since 2001, they HAVE NOT had me legally sign ANY contract agreement to raise my rent every month. In 2022, my inside storage got broken into. They waited a week to tell me. They said there was a combo lock on it. I went there & no combo lock. Just an opened Masterlock padlock hanging on the door. They are breaking into customers storage units & stealing their belongings just to force us to buy the insurance we never asked for. They're jumping prices to force customers to give their unit up for sale. THEY ARE BREAKING SO MANY LAWS & TAKING ADVANTAGE OF VETERAN'S DISABLED & ELDERLY PEOPLE!PLEASE FORWARD ALL COMPLAINTS TO THE **** SpareBox Storage is extorting money from innocent people!Review fromMichelle P

1 star1 star because only because they wont let me leave 0 stars. Worst **************** Ever! First of all they keep raising my rent. When I called today because I got a late notice again, they told me yes they received my payment but rent had gone up again. He told me to expect it to go up every 6-9 months. from $101-$118-$133. Also when I called their 800 number (because there is no local manager)n to complain about someone living on property - smoking dope in the building - peeing outside and sleeping in his car with his dog they told ME to go back and get the unit number. Today when I asked the guy if I could speak to a manager he asked me why? I said because I'm upset and he told me that was not a good enough reason. I'm done. Moving out this week but trust me - you do not rent from them! Also I concur with everything ************ below wrote. Exact same experience.Review fromDavid P

1 starOne of the worst companies I have ever seen. Upon buying out the original owner they immediately raised rates. They have continued to raise rates. Storage site now does business through a call center which is terrible. I use electronic banking and for the last four months they send letters saying I haven't paid my bill. I waste an hour on phone with call center proving the bank has cleared the monthly payments. When I try to do anything online their website does not recognize any of my three registered contact numbers forcing me to wait for a customer service representative. Right now my wife is on phone having to pay through a representative so I can access the unit. They are charging me the monthly rate which I already paid thru bank that they don't show, a late fee for that payment, and a twelve dollar fee for using a representative.NEVER NEVER use this company!Review fromAlbert G

1 starDON'T USE SpareBox!!! Absolute rip-off since SpareBox took over. They immediately raised the pricing and have done so many times. I have been in this unit for over 10 years, a lot longer than SpareBox has owned it. The previous owners were great to deal with. SpareBox is horrible. The gate has continuously had problems leaving the facility unsecured. **************** is non-existant. Today I discovered that I, an existing, long term tenant, am paying $168 for my unit and their website is giving NEW customers the same unit for $94. No mention of the $94 price being for new customers only! Isn't that against the law? I contacted them and they said that I could move to a new unit a few doors down and they would give me the $94 dollar price. The spring assist on the door to my unit has been broken for over 2 years and is pretty heavy to open. I decided to move to a NEW UNIT AND A NEW COMPANY. I guess everything is bigger in ***** because these guys have HUGE KAHUNAS!!! Buyer BEWARE!! 1 star is too high.Review fromKatherine R

1 starMy RV was broken in to and the battery was stolen. I reported it to the Sparebox Storage contact but they didn't give a s*** They won't even acknowledge in an email that I contacted them to report this. The insurance company is requiring acknowledgement that this had been reported. Absolute c***Review fromShelley S

1 starThis company is a ripoff. They continually raise my rent and there is no one to contact. New renters pay $64.00 and I pay $101.00 for the same storage. How is that even legal? I don't recommend this company to anyone. Nothing like taking advantage of people through technology. I'd give them a negative rating if I could.Review fromSusan S

1 starEver since they bought out the former owners where I have a storage unit, the customer service has dropped dramatically while the rates have increased. We used to have a dumpster on site and they did away with that. The former owners used to spray monthly for pest control, and Sparebox did away with that. I have found black widow spiders in my storage unit now. The former owners also used to keep baited mouse traps around the property, and Sparebox has done away with those. I recently found mouse droppings in one of my units. One time the gate would not open fully and so I was able to push it open. However, it was and not close. I called there aint no hundred number which was not ever answered by a human being. I had to leave a voicemail and no one ever responded to me. A week later I drove by and the gate was still stuck open, so anyone couldve walked in there with bolt cutters and gotten into units to steal things. A friend of mine had a unit at another location in the same town and that did happen there; someone was able to get into the gate and break into units and my friends, mothers storage was broken into. They also took over another indoor storage unit here that used to be one of the premier places to store in town. Since they did away with all the in person offices at all of these facilities, birds and mice and pests got into that huge unit . A friend of mine had her stuff ruined because birds had pooped all over it. All this company does is by up storage units and then doesnt **** them or keep up customer service. In the meantime in the year and a half that they have owned the property where I am renting from. They have increased my rent three times.Review fromPhilip G

1 starThis company is growing too fast and cant keep up with all the flaws in their business model. They are providing an unsecured storage service that criminals are able to easily take advantage of. They and their insurance providers dont care about their clientele or their belongings. I would think twice before you ***************** at one of there facilities.Review frommatt h

1 starLucky I can't give you 0 stars I had autopay set up and it was going out over a week before do. I was still getting hit with late fee charges. Then. I switched over to RC (Reocurring Check, Their control). First payment was fine. Next payment they had switched my routing and check no. around. Had to straighten that out. Then. Bank statement shows they took out Jan ***** payment no issue. Today I get a letter( mind you. it's dated ********* , today is the 3rd) They are "MAKING A DEMAND FOR PAYMENT". If not paid in full. It's going up for auction. You want to throw caps! YOU GOT KAHUNAS, I'LL TELL YOU THAT.HOW DARE YOU DEMAND ME FOR PAYMENT ON SOMETHING YOU. YES YOU. SHOULD OF HAD CONTROL OF. MY UNIT SHOULD OF BEEN RED FLAGGED FOR FOLLOW UP AND SOMEONE KEEP AN EYE ON IT. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER UNIT WITH PAYING ISSUES. THAT YOU CREATED. Had this unit for 18 Years. Never an issue till Spare Box took over. NEVER ! This is the issue when you go automated and don't have a human in the units office
