I have lived at Pinnacle Highland apartments from December 18, 2020 to Nov 18, 2022. I went down to the office today, October 21, 2022 to sign my intent to vacate the apartment at the end of my lease November 18, 2022. Was informed that I will owe them a free months rent essentially, around $2400, because I did not give them a heads up at 60 days prior. I have never been an apartment that requires more than 30 days notice intent to vacate. Though they sent me notices asking if I would renew or vacation, I dont think this is reasonable to expect a 2 month heads-up as I wasnt even sure what I was doing as I am a recently single father trying to navigate the pressures of the **** Court system, working, and getting my parenting time in with my child. I certainly am understanding in that I am slightly less then a month out from the end my my lease and if I have to pay 3 extra days rent then I can do that. But to be expected to pay an entire extra 30 days rent when they are just gonna rent it out days after I leave is borderline criminal.

All residents of Pinnacle Highland Apartments sign a lease agreement before moving into the apartment. In this lease agreement it states a 60 day notice to vacate is required before vacating the apartment. A resident is welcome to vacate their apartment at anytime, however; the resident will be financially responsible for the full 60 day notice period or until the apartment is re-rented and the new resident becomes rent responsible. If the apartment is re-rented before the end of the full 60 day notice period the resident will either not be charged for the entire notice period, or if the resident has already paid the full amount a refund will be issued for the days after the new tenant took possession of the apartment. Pinnacle Highland Management along with our residents is held to this same lease agreement and, to remain in compliance with fair housing laws, cannot make an exception for only a single person or family. Therefore adjustments to the required notice to vacate policies cannot be made.

I am rejecting this response because:

My lease was set to end November 18 and I had not given confirmation that I would be extending the lease. I feel that this is predatory behavior to expect more than 30 days notice and ultimately just a way to  price ***** tenants who are moving out on short notice for circumstances out of their control.

    Sincerely,
