Complaint Summary: Services Not Rendered / Business Harmed

I hired Boostability on January 21, 2025, to build a professional website and provide full SEO services for my business, Reel Groovy Experiences. I paid $1,399.99 via Citibank credit card.

Boostability failed to complete the website, and the SEO work was either not done or consisted of spammy, irrelevant backlinks that harmed my business’s online visibility and reputation. After months of delays and unmet promises, they removed even the partial site they had created, effectively retaliating after I expressed dissatisfaction.

I initially disputed part of the charge, hoping Boostability would complete the website, but when they failed to deliver, I attempted to dispute the remainder. Boostability then offered to refund 50% of the charge—an acknowledgment they had not fulfilled the agreement—but refused to issue the refund unless I retracted my dispute.

I am requesting a full refund due to:
    • Complete failure to deliver contracted services
    • Direct harm to my business’s reputation and visibility
    • Retaliatory removal of the incomplete website
    • Boostability’s own offer to refund a portion of the charge

Their conduct was unethical and unprofessional, and they have refused to resolve the matter fairly. I am filing this BBB complaint to formally document the issue and request a full refund of $1,399.99.

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to ***** ********** concerns and are sorry to hear she felt her experience did not meet expectations. At Boostability, we are committed to delivering quality work and clear communication, and we take all feedback seriously.

    Website Services:
Our records show that Boostability did complete the website build as agreed. Between January 21 and May 7, our team made multiple rounds of revisions based on Ms. ********** requests, many of which were turned around within just a few days. Our website and development teams remained in close communication, worked through a tight timeline, and delivered updates according to her specifications. Near the end of the process, we encountered delays in implementing the final revisions due to a chargeback filed by Ms. ********, which impacted our ability to access the site and continue work.

    SEO Services:
During the time SEO services were active, our team performed work in line with the contracted deliverables. We provided documentation showing positive ranking improvements for targeted keywords, which contradicts the claim that our work harmed her business’s visibility or reputation.

    Chargeback & Hosting Impact:
Ms. ******** filed a chargeback for the full amount, which included both SEO services and hosting. Despite initially expressing a desire to retain hosting, this action resulted in the website being taken offline, as we cannot maintain hosting services under an active chargeback. As a gesture of goodwill, we offered to refund 50% of the final SEO month if the chargeback was removed and expressed willingness to restore hosting services under the same condition. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response to this resolution offer.

We recognize that project timelines can become complex with multiple rounds of revision and that expectations may not always align. However, we feel the services were delivered as contracted and in good faith, and we remain willing to work toward a fair resolution should Ms. ******** wish to reopen the conversation.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify and provide context.

    RESPONSE TO BOOSTABILITY’S STATEMENT:

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Boostability’s claims. I strongly disagree with their characterization of events and feel compelled to clarify the facts from my perspective as the paying client.

    Website Development Issues:
Boostability claims the website was “completed as agreed,” yet at no point was I provided with a fully functional, polished website that aligned with the expectations outlined in our agreement. I submitted multiple rounds of revision requests, many of which addressed fundamental design flaws and missing content—not cosmetic preferences. Despite their claim of quick turnaround, many updates were slow, incomplete, or required repeated follow-ups. The final product was never optimized for usability, SEO, or technical performance.

    SEO Services and Misleading Metrics:
Boostability asserts that their SEO work led to ranking improvements. This is simply not true. During the time I worked with their SEO team, my business’s online visibility declined, especially on Google Business listings—which are essential for a local business like mine. I was never provided with clear, meaningful reports or measurable results. Upon reviewing their backlink strategy, I found irrelevant placements—including one link on a page featuring an image of a surfer, which had nothing to do with my business. The site content was generic and unoptimized, and technical SEO aspects such as metadata, keyword strategy, and performance enhancements were not properly implemented.

    Chargeback and Hosting Shutdown:
Boostability suggests that the chargeback I filed caused delays, but those delays occurred long before I initiated the dispute. The chargeback was a last resort after repeated service failures. After I disputed the charges for SEO services, Boostability abruptly took my website offline—including the unfinished version—without warning. This action completely removed my business’s presence from the web and hurt my ability to attract and retain customers. I had communicated my willingness to retain hosting while we resolved the dispute, but they took the site down anyway.

    Broken Promise of Refund:
Boostability offered a 50% refund for just one month of SEO, even though I was charged for three months of low-quality or nonexistent service. I never received the refund.

    Conclusion:
I paid nearly $3,000 for Boostability’s website and SEO services. In return, I was left without a functioning website, without effective SEO results, and without support. My experience with Boostability involved broken promises, poor communication, and negative consequences for my business. The full chargeback was fully justified, and I stand by it. I remain open to a fair and honest resolution, but cannot agree with the inaccurate and misleading statements presented in their response.

    Business Response

Thank you for reaching out regarding this BBB complaint.

In summary, after multiple attempts to satisfy this customer’s concerns, we agreed to a partial refund and offered this customer a 50% refund which they apparently didn’t feel was sufficient, so they initiated a chargeback through their credit card provider.

They are now claiming that we are not honoring our refund offer, though our hands are now tied due to the chargeback.  As the chargeback has been initiated, we are no longer able to issue that partial refund as those funds are now in question, pending a decision on the chargeback by the credit card provider. We have reached out to finance to see if a decision has been made on that chargeback, as far as the information finance has access to.

We are prepared to honor the partial refund we offered if/when the chargeback claim is denied by the credit card provider.

Because the chargeback was for the full amount for SEO and hosting, the site was taken down. We explained to the client that we could resume hosting if she was to amend or remove the chargeback so that it didn't include the hosting of her website. The client never responded to that after explaining the chargeback included the hosting fee.

I reject the business’s response because it falsely claims that they are unable to issue the agreed-upon partial refund due to a pending chargeback. In reality, the chargeback for the full $1,300 was denied by my credit card company, and the funds have already been returned to the business. There is no longer an open or pending dispute.

The business previously offered a 50% refund, and their statement confirms they are “prepared to honor the partial refund” if the chargeback is denied. That condition has now been met, and yet no refund has been issued.

I am requesting that the business follow through on their original agreement and issue the 50% refund as promised. I appreciate the BBB’s assistance in helping resolve this matter fairly.

We are prepared to refund the 50% request, but it appears the customer has submitted a new chargeback for 50% of the $1300 charge after her chargeback of $1300 was denied by her back. Our account team is saying that we now need to let the new chargeback run its course before we would be able to honor that 50% refund we agreed to

I am rejecting this response because: I did not submit another charge back. The card company denied the claim and gave the money to Boostability. I can provide records where the money was charged to my card and never returned.
