In July of 2024 my husband and I signed up for action solar in addition to the solar we had initially because we need more panels so in the beginning the process was a little rocky but it was moving and the solar panels were installed once they were installed about Oct/Nov of ************************************** the battery and everything needed to set up and start the solar. When the electrician came he put up the battery and then immediately the breaker to the master bathroom turned the lights off in the bathroom so I brought it to his attention and I was like did u hit something or do anything to the electrical in the house and he was like no and I was like then why are my lights in my bathroom no longer working he said he was unsure but had to get back home because he lived 3 hours away and said he would return for inspection and I was like what about my bathroom and the trash from all of your stuff he said he would return to do and get rid of the trash when it was time to do the inspection. I told him he could dispose of the trash in the dumpster in the alley not to far from the house but he still left without getting rid of the trash 2 weeks go by and at this time I have no lights in my master bathroom and they still have not gotten rid of the trash so i called my electrician to come and get teo of my lights to work and diagnose the issue in the bathroom who i had tell me that when the battery was installed they hit the jumper line for the lights in the bathroom which was breaking the circuit which was why the breaker kept turning the lights out so he disconnected the jumper cable so we would have lights and then put the cause in an email. then I get a call telling me they are going to come fix the bathroom but when he came he was focused on the inspection of the system and the other houses and he had inspections on and did not fix the problem. My bathroom still works partly and my system is still not working properly.

I signed a contract with Action Solar on 12/04/2023 to have a solar system installed at my house. This project installation was finally completed on 06/25/2024. However, I could not use the system until an inspection was completed by the State of Wyoming, and the proper meter was installed by the local power company. The very next day the installation was completed, I was contacted by the finance company to finalize the loan, which I objected to because I didn't have a working system yet and didn't want to pay for something I couldn't use. They threatened to sue me if I didn't sign the loan papers, so I reluctantly did. Well, my fears came true, Action Solar did not request an inspection for over 45 days, and only did it then because I called to check on the status. It still took another roughly two months for the inspection to get done. Then, Action Solar was to send the inspection approval to the power company to get the new meter insalled (all along the way I was told by Action Solar that they were doing what they were suppose to be doing.) I has now been 3 weeks since the inspection approval, I just got off the phone with the power company and they still have not received the inspection. I have now made 4 months worth of loan payments, paying for something I can't use. I was assured by Action Solar that they would reimburse me for those payments, I've received only one, and told another would be coming - that was 4 weeks ago. I want my system working and the reimbursements paid.

We had Action Solar put solar panels on our home in July 2023. A door-to-door ******** named **** sold us the product for about $35,000. Everything in the beginning was streamlined and quick. They moved quickly to get their money. They were very effective with communication and *********** year later, in July 2024, I noticed huge bills (during the peak solar generating period) and should have been over producing my power for electric credits for the winter. This was also during the hottest months in the year with 100 degree+ temperatures. I called and called Action Solar's ONLY number. Weeks went by with no response to any message me or my wife left. I finally got ahold of an employee named Talon, who claimed he was the only customer service agent for the company. He said that 12 of my 18 panels had not been working for months, and he would find out why. We called a week and a half later to ask about the status of our situation. No one returned our calls. Finally, after about 20 calls to the company, he answered and told us that we needed new inverters. He shipped inverters to our house and another 2 weeks went by with us trying to reach them to asks when they would be installed. He said he would get back to us. Despite several attempts to contact this company, and us having a loan for the equipment on our house, they STILL have not resolved or addressed any of our issues. They have just left us hanging with no answers or solutions to our problems. Nor have they figured out any financial solutions to making us pay almost $1000 extra dollars in energy costs. This company is a sham and needs to be put out of business.

    Business response

    09/24/2024

This customer has been taken care of.  We went out and swapped the micro inverters out on 9/10 and system was producing perfectly fine.  Customer has access to their portal so they can monitor everything within the solar app.

On January 3,2024 I signed a contract with Action solar for the purpose of purchasing and installation of a complete solar system on my house. The total amount was 52,000. Dollars on June 3rd the solar panels and associated materials and hardware showed up at our house. On June 5th systems were complete and awaiting final inspection and approval from Rocky Mountain power (the utility company.). Once inspection complete I could have the solar system turned on to produce power to sell back to power company. No one showed up to do the final inspection and approval. I have contacted Action solar numerous times by phone and texting. At first they said I had to contact the financial company that provided the loan with information before they could have final inspection done. Once I contracted financial services and confirmed the installation was completed my payment schedule was setup and I assume Action received there money. Since then I have not been able to contact anyone from Action solar about getting the final inspection approved and completed. I have no way of knowing if the system will even pass inspection little more if additional work is required are they going to do it. Bottom line is the system has been operational since June 5th of this year and I've been unable to produce and sell power because Action solar has not provided the means to get the systems checked out and final approval done so it can be made operational. It's now August 10th and not 1 word from them on this matter!. I've also contacted the financial company and placed the same complaint with them hopefully someone can help me get resolution to this matter..

    Business response

    09/18/2024

Hello - we apologize for the delay in getting your system up and running and operational.  As of 9/17, we reached out to the city inspector for a third time to get the inspection done.  We will follow up daily until we receive a response and confirmation for date/time.  We will update you daily, whether there is movement or not, just so you are kept in the know.  Thank you.

I contracted with Action Solar in April to install solar panels in my house. Every step of the process has gone wrong and Action Solar has done very little to address the issues.First, the engineering study they did on my home was incorrect. The solar array they quoted me, and we contracted did not fit on my house. I was pressured into making a split second decision on a new design. I now have solar panels on my garage which I had expressed to the salesman we wanted to avoid. They also neglected to identify that my main panel would need to be moved from my back yard to the front of my house. I had no idea what the electrical panel would look like until it was physically mounted to my house. Again, this is a design that I would not have agreed to during contracting. When they trenched my yard to move my panel they neglected to call blue stakes. As a result they broke my gas line. This was done while my children were home alone. The manner in which they got my kids out of the house was less than desirable. The hole that was left by the removal of my panel on the back of my house was not properly repaired. They packed the hole with silicone and left it. My yard has still not been repaired after a month and the back of my house has not been resolved. I still have no solar because Action Solar improperly filed the paperwork with ******************** twice. Each error pushed my project back a week.

I am rejecting this response because:

Action Solar has still not replied with a reasonable resolution to my complaint. Action Solar claims to be taking full responsibility for their shortfallings on my project, yet they are unwilling to to make reasonable compensation. I have asked the to cover a portion of the labor costs since their installation of my solar system was not done in a professional manner. Not only are they unwilling to do that, they can't even produce a number as to what my installation costs were. I have asked to have a meeting with the internal operations manager and am still awaiting a response.

    1) Original Contract Signed 9/9/2022 2) Amount Paid - $23,600 3) *********** committed to a 10kw Rooftop Solar Design, Install, Inspections, Permission to operated and a 10 and 25 year warranty; Project Solar is the sales company and Action Solar completes the rest of the installation/inspection work/coordination 4) Initial install started on March 6th and was completed on March 12. Inspections and permission to operate should have completed within weeks of that date. Since that date the city has not passed inspection. This has prevented the power company from doing their inspection and allowing the system to be turned on. Project Solar/Action Solar got fully paid by the loan company Goodleap without anyone asking me if the system is functional. Since then Project Solar and Action Solar have had nothing but excuses, weeks upon weeks of delays and lies. I will call the city building **** and find that neither have contacted the city when they say they have. Goodleap is also to blame fully paying both companies giving me no leverage to withhold part of payment.5) Neither business has stood behind completing the work 6) I just want the work completed in the next 2 weeks and a refund of $1000 for the system sitting unactivated for months now getting older by the month and how much chasing I have had to do.

    Complaint: 20136734

I am rejecting this response because:

I completely disagree with the responses of Project Solar and Action Solar.  One being the sales company and the latter being the installer.   This has never been about coordination.  It has been an abject failure in scheduling and communication with these companies to the city building department and the power company. Going back to the initial install date in March.  They came out to do the install over a 2 day period.  Additional work was necessary.  Instead of completing my job they moved onto another and said they would not be back for weeks.  Yet they told the finance company they were complete, getting fully paid without the finance company asking me if the system was complete, inspected and activated.  Repeatedly following that both companies would say were checking into the next steps or not respond.  I would ask if they have got the city arranged for inspection and they would say yes.  Id contact the city and they would say they have not heard from either company.  These lies repeated over and over.  When we did get inspections arranged they would not show up so the city would fail the inspections.  This happened multiple times. When they updated designs they failed to send them to the power company. Repeated mistakes, false promises and silence has occurred now for 5 months. These guys have setup a game to get paid and check out if you use their finance.  If I had known this I would have paid on my own and only paid for half on installation until activation had occurred.  We are now at 5 months with no activation in site.  ***************** most recently failed the installation at the end of June due to design changes that Action Solar never sent to them.  Additionally a basic layout issue in the flow didnt reflect the design.  New designs were submitted to the power company (which they approved in a day) and we could have been turned on a week again.  Instead, we are in limbo because the power company is awaiting a release from the city on their inspection which wont happen as part of normal processes because their work was complete.  I pestered Action Solar/Project Solar for 3 weeks now as I was concerned that this would be the case with no response.  Only today have the started to look into the coordination issues again.

Action Solar/Project Solar should be the experts in the solar business.  My city and power company respond within a day or so to every inspection request I talk to them about for Solar or otherwise. While they are ********************* they are super responsive.  Action Solar/Project Solar are solely to blame for the delays, inaction and deceptive financing practices.

I have now been paying on a system and accruing interest for multiple months now on a system just sitting there (wasting away its useful life).

I expect PTO and a functioning system by August 11th plus a refund of $1000 each from each vendor.

    Sincerely,

    ***************************

We have done an in-depth review of this customer's account. First, we apologize to the customer for any delays caused. We recognize that this has been a process. However, we would like to outline a few items:
We received a permit from the *** to do the work. We went out to install, ran into snow day of install, and there was significant ice on the customer's roof. In addition, our installers are scheduled out several weeks, so we had to adjust and get them back out to the customer's home at the soonest availability.
We scheduled an inspection 4/5, and the inspector failed it due to some unforeseen design change. We made the required changes to the design, and then the customer then scheduled their own inspection, which we were not able to be present for, as that was not coordinated through us. This inspection failed because no one was onsite.
We scheduled another city inspection 4/28, and the inspector canceled the inspection due to snow. Our techs are very busy, and we had to wait to get another inspection scheduled with one of our techs. We rescheduled for 5/18, and the inspector said the work was good, but required a few more changes to the design. The inspector did not feel the need to go onsite, but told us to submit the new approved plans to him after revisions were approved by the ***, and he would pass inspection.
We revised plans to meet inspector demands, and on 6/12 the final city inspection passed.
6/13 we submitted to the customer's utility company (CORE) for PTO.
6/21 we asked CORE for an update on meter set. They said they were behind and would set meter soon.
A CORE tech finally went onsite, and said they have requirements different than the ***, and told us to change the plans and move the ** meter to another location. The customer then called the *** and said that we wired his system backwards, even though the *** had approved the work per **** state, and city codes. The reality is that each utility company has unique requirements, and they did not tell us about this meter location requirement until after the inspection passed.
We then scheduled a technician to go onsite to relocate meter per utility requirements on 7/3. CORE then required us to get a new city inspection. We asked the city to inspect, and they said they had already passed final inspection, so we would need to pull a new permit. We submitted for that through their normal submittal and review process. We received the new permit approval and stamped city plans on 8/8.
CORE then came back and said they wanted the meter raised to 5'6" even tho that is much higher than *** and city codes that we installed to. We obliged and sent a tech to raise the meter on 8/9. The new city final inspection is scheduled for tomorrow, 8//11. Everything looks good to pass and get PTO quickly.
We have successfully installed and received PTO on thousands of accounts in ********. This one was very unique and required dedication and follow-through. Our team consistently adjusted to the changing requirements of the utility and city. Keep in mind that a new *** code was implemented in the state during this period. So some of these changes were to adjust to new codes that were not applicable at point of original permit. Our team adjusted and pushed through everything the city and utility required.
Our team will continue to work hard to get this customer's system PTO'd.
If the customer is wanting reimbursement, we kindly ask that they send that request to *************************************** and our internal manager will review and get them an answer. We are committed to taking care of our customers, and ask that they understand the challenges we have faced on this system and allow us to complete the final steps to get their solar turned on.

The contractor has been slow and non responsive throughout the process.I paid in full for the work on May 16, 2022. The contractor performed the main install work on June 7, about two weeks later than they originally said they would. They did not schedule an inspection of that work for a month. The inspection on July 6 failed and they have yet to schedule the corrective work.
