They sold us a vehicle that seemed like a clean title (Colorado title) after they bought it from CoPart. The vehicle has hail damage, but we were assured by the dealership that the title was clean and the insurance report did not deem the vehicle a total loss due to hail. The title we were given was clean and all reports said it was clean. Well, come to find out, the insurance did claim total loss; Colorado will not brand a title due to hail damage, but Idaho and Utah will brand the car due to hail damage. CoPart claims the insurance report was given at the time of the sale to the dealer so they knew the status, but since they are not required to retitle the car in the dealership name, they claimed a clean title out of Colorado even though they were selling in Utah and the title would end up being branded. This is a tactic of whitewashing a title; they technically sold a clean title, but it is misleading because the title is not actually clean. They have great reviews because they ask for them and throw in perks with it and then threaten you with cops if you post a bad review. I have the insurance report now from CoPart, I have statements from all three states DMVs, and I have records of the documents (title) if the dealership tries to claim otherwise. Carfax and all other resources will show a clean title, and the DMV will not release info on a car you don't own, so the only way to know is when you get to the DMV to retitle your car.

We were interested in buying his 2016 Jeep Renegade Sport that he has on his lot. We went there and he told us that he has someone else that was interested in the car. He said that they went to the bank to get the loan and would be back that day to pick it up. We thought it was a great deal but were not yet ready to buy the car outright. He said if we wanted, we could put a deposit down on the car for 200$ and it would be held for three days. My wife and I both asked him, is this refundable. We asked him multiple times and he said that it was refundable. If we ended up buying the car he would give us the money back or put the money onto the car purchase. We finally decided to go with the refund. This took place by us "Venmoing" his personal account the 200$. We went to the bank and requested a loan for 18000$ to get the car plus warranty. The bank got back to us and said they would not loan the money to us to purchase that car. The two reasons were because it had hail damage and there was a discrepancy with how much the car was worth 19000 and how much he was selling it. The bank would not take the risk, even though my wife and I were preapproved for 18000$ that day. I tried everything I could to get the bank to loan me the money but to no avail. We went back to the dealer and told him what happened. He was the person who originally told us to go to the bank that we did. I told him that we cannot get a loan on the car because they see it as too much of a risk. Immediately he said you cannot get your deposit back, this was before I had even asked for it. I explained it to him a little more and asked to see the title. It sounded like he lied to the bank about the hail damage, because the bank called to confirm. I told him that we wanted the refund back and told him that we tried everything we could to get the money for the car, besides outright buying it. I would not have put a deposit down if he had said that it was non-refundable.
