Before moving in I read many concerning reviews about Thompson M*****, specifically their Sterling Village property in South Jordan, UT. The reviews stated that, upon renewal, many tenets received notices that they could not renew their lease, even though they’d done nothing wrong. I asked the leasing agent about this before I agreed to sign and I was assured that would not happen, so I signed. That was about 11 months ago. Yesterday I received a notice of non-renewal and I emailed the executive team at Thompson M***** and I have yet to hear back from them or anyone at the corporate office. The only possible reason for this non-renewal would be retaliation for one minor disagreement I had with a leasing agent - the same agent that signed and delivered the non-renewal notice. What happened was; after the office lost what would be the 3rd or 4th package of mine, I asked what was going on. I explained the mail carrier told me my packages were at the leasing office and that I was frustrated with the back and forth. The employee was incredibly dismissive. I asked her if she could be a little less dismissive and she did not like that. We shared a few words and went our separate way. She was just as rude as I was. This wouldn’t constitute a non-renewal even if personal grievances can used as a valid reason for non-renewal. It’s a predatory practice in Utah. They can simply claim it’s due to a business reason but they don’t have to tell you what that reason is. However, in this case it’s blatant retaliation, which isn’t allowed. I’ve never received a complaint. My rent is auto-paid on time every month. I’ve never damaged property. I’ve never so much as left dog waste on the ground. In fact, for months I lived beneath nocturnal tenets that caused major nuisances. In addition to screaming at me anytime I made a sound, they caused hundreds of dollars in damage to my personal belongings. It seems Thompson M***** has no interest in retaining loyal, responsible tenets.

Filing a compliant related to the property going by the name The Aviary operated by Thompson M***** in Henderson, Nevada. Thompson M***** took over after another management company and from that minute, nearly everything on property went downhill. The top brewer coffee maker in the resident lounge broke, the lounge/office closed permanently on Sundays, the workout room was painted but equiptment not covered to be protected from the paint, dogs' waste no longer picked up, the list goes on. As management of the property went downhill, rent continued to be increased. The main reason for filing this complaint is that upon move out, many unreasonable fees were charged to me, over and above my security deposit. And, I was charged for normal wear and tear as so many others were here in the reviews/open complaints. I've sent demands from law firms all without any reply. I've worked with about 5 landlords in my life, and I can't recommend anyone to lease with this company. They're beyond sketchy, have no care for their residents, and will charge you fees that they are not legally allowed to. Someone needs to work to combat their dishonest business practices that are hurting so many simply looking for decent housing.
