We agreed to purchase a home through Yates Home. We was a cash paying customer and the home was being built through ***. We did sign a contract with Yates on 12/15/2022 and paid our deposit for the home - $86,507.18. Then we came back in the office to finalized and realized that the house was not going to look like the picture, so we spent $3, 225 on windows, front door and can lights. The paperwork states that if we have to make changes once the home was ordered that we would have to pay a $500 fee for any changes made. We received a call from our sale rep: ***** ******, who stated that the plant (***) informed her that the 2 convection ovens were no longer available and had to get regular ovens and the refrigerator/freezer combo was no longer available. Therefore, we needed to make a decision to put a pantry in and get a regular refrigerator and the decision needed to make fairly quickly so that they could order whatever was needed. We decided to cancel the order - since the plant was trying to make changes to the home that we did not want changes made to. We asked for our money back - ***** did inform us that the deposit may be short $5,000. It was not up to Yates but up to ***. She stated that we could call them and ask. We called *** and spoke with Ms. ***** **** - *** stated that our house was not ordered as of yet and they had not received any money from Yates home. We can understand that they may have to keep $1,000 (our original deposit) but $5,000 I feel is extreme when nothing had been ordered for our home. So Yates Homes did give us some of our money back less $5000. We have placed a call to Mr. Scott Yates and he has not returned our phone call as of yet. We left a message Friday, Feb. 11th and we called this morning and had to leave another message with the office. We understand that it was no fault of Yates Home and also, it was no fault of ours that things are no longer available because of Covid (not being able to get supplies).
