I went to Liberty Tax on 4/3/24,I spoke with **** who looked at my taxes and immediately said I would get very little if anything back, I said to her I'm not working , so I can't pay anything now if I due owe, how much will you charge she said $175.00 upfront, she also told me I could get an extension to pay the taxes which is False , the extension is only to file later NOT for money's owed, She knowingly gave me a false statement and now I'm going to be charged "interest " until I pay it off . I would like my refund back for falsely telling me that.Business response

This doesn’t even make sense. Filing an extension with the IRS does NOT stop them from charging penalties and interest. The tax preparer is well informed of that and would’ve told the customer that.We WILL NOT give a refund. This client owing the IRS is no fault of ours, and it’s not our fault the client doesn’t have the financial means to pay the IRS his balance due to them.I see nothing wrong with what my employee did. This if anything seems to be a misunderstanding from the customers end.Initial Complaint

I filed my taxes on line with liberty tax on 22 of jan. I went to the harrisonburg office to get more assistance. wherr they tried to file my refund again in doing this it was rejected because of being filed online. When I called a 4 days later I couldnt get no answer. So I called the va dept of taxtation were they told me that the refund was sent to liberty tax"s bank. Its been two weeks and still no refund or answers and they won't call me back or answer the phone.Business response

He had already filed a tax return online and then came into our office to get a loan. Since he has already filed the IRS rejected this so we couldn't get the loan.
