The Blue Zucchini Catering Company catered our wedding. While we were happy with the food the "service" was terrible and the company did not carry out responsibilities clearly defined either in contracts, email conversations and walk throughs with other vendors. Given their failure to complete their clearly defined duties my other vendors needed to pick up the slack and covered several duties for which the catering company was paid to complete. The incompetence of the company was something my husband and I would be willing to forgive as a small business had they not insisted on charging us for extra services after the event that were the result of the fact that their employees did not complete their own tasks within a reasonable time frame. As the client, it really felt that they were just not working efficiently because they knew if they tried to stay longer they could try to charge us more money for it. Considering, the company did not even do some of the duties for which they were paid and they did not take care with the venue, things for which they signed paperwork saying they would do and additionally tried to charge us more money after the fact we tried to reach out to resolve the issue with them. Additionally, some of the charges were never clearly identified as possible charges in the contract and thus were without cause. When we attempted to resolve this the owner did not engage us in any discussion other than to say that we were wrong, despite the fact that the owner was never there and only knew what their employees told them. When we tried to reach out to discuss this payment for which we did not feel was fair they said they would send the "debt" to a "debt collections company". While I still felt we had been wronged, I paid the fee because we are young people that eventually want to buy a house and we cannot have our credit destroyed over this. It did feel incredibly vindictive and we hope a more amenable resolution can be reached.

    Business response

In response to the above complaint, that would have been awful if any of this was true.  Blue Zucchini was contracted to provide food service for the above wedding, which according to the complainant that was completed and was above expectations.  Blue Zucchini was asked to assist the wedding coordinator and her staff with set up, which we completed at no additional charge.  The venue stipulated a few items for the caterer to complete which we completed at no additional costs.  However, the coordinator forgot to order dishes and other items that need to be used to complete service.  The complainant did not want to use our service for these items but insisted on using their coordinator.  This caused our staff to go above and beyond the contract hours for cleaning of these items, the coordinator as well did not complete her restocking of tables, which we completed for the wedding couple with additional time charges as well due to the fact that this was not under our scope of services.

This complainant did not feel that they should pay the additional staff time to complete extra work not contracted for due to the lack of experience of their wedding coordinator.  They committed bank fraud after being charged the additional time by contacting the bank and stating that the signature on the credit card form was not theirs.  After being confronted with this fraud they quietly paid the amount due.  Now they feel it necessary to voice outrage.

This is simply a case of a wedding couple  not wanting to pay their bill for services rendered.

    No refund is due.
