In November 2021, I located a chimney sweep and inspection company to come take a look at an issue we were having with our chimney. After a ****** search for Arlington Chimney Sweeps, I found a website and number for A1 Chimney Sweep. My first instincts were that it was strange the site didn't feature a physical location, but I was relieved to reach a live person on the phone who promised a tech would be out to examine our chimney. Their tech arrived promptly within a few days, immediately said our chimney was too high for his ladder, and that he'd have to come back with a taller ladder. He demanded payment for the inspection service visit, even though he had not done any inspection yet. I was skeptical, and before paying I called the office to speak with his manager, who assured me that they'd recorded my proactive payment. The tech issued me the attached receipt as well (although please know the letterhead doesn't match the business name, I didn't notice at-first). After not hearing back on reschedule, I took to calling A1 to find times for them to come fulfill the inspection. They promised to call me back with times, but never did. After 2 or 3 calls I gave up and had a different vendor do the work. I then went back to A1 to get refunded for my inspection fee of $129; each time I called, I got a different representative on the line who always assured me their supervisor would be back in touch to refund me. No one ever called. Today I called again and emailed their general email box and they replied with a confrontational tone saying "there will be no refund, you got your inspection." I've attached our email communications for your reference. Thank you for reviewing my complaint and helping my case. I don't even care about the money, I just don't want other Virginians to get scammed by this group which feels to me more like organized fraud than a one-off issue.
