Hired 3/21 to remove carpet and install engineered wood flooring on concrete slab in 3 rooms. 3 weeks after install, boards started popping when walked on and buckling in some areas. Contacted Jay W****** who said he would replace entire floor at no cost. Came to look and said he needed to research to see why this occurred. Follow up calls to him and emails were either ignored or met with an excuse. Returned in August with a broom and 3 cans of baby powder to sweep into the floor (?). Told him the floor was buckling and popping and did not allow him to do that. After that, calls, texts, emails were not answered, one phone number disconnected. I called almost daily to home residence and left vm. Heard from him mid DECEMBER 2021 to say he would get the job done. More unanswered calls until February 2022 when he dropped off 5 boxes of flooring and would bring the rest in 2 days. 3 weeks passed. Finally brought on March 12. Installer came March 16, and again March 18. Told me that during original install, Jay told him not to use much glue due to expense. On March 18, installer needed to purchase additional materials and said he didn’t have money. I reimbursed him $**. He was to return Saturday March 19 to finish. He left pieces of wood over two doorways where he installed transitions and told me to leave in place until the next day. Saturday morning installer didn’t show up. I texted him and he told me his boss wasn’t going to pay him, so he wasn’t coming. Every piece of shoe molding was cracked, gouged, or gaping. I removed the boards covering the transitions and both are cracked and patched with caulk or something brown. The color doesn’t match the flooring at all. There is collateral damage to my adjacent flooring. There is a gap he filled with caulk at the bathroom door that is poorly done.Customer response
