    Advertising Review:
BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On May 12, 2022 BBB contacted Roanoke Granite Tops, Inc. regarding their website, www.roanokegranite.com, which makes the claim that they have the largest selection of over 5,000 slabs ranging from granite, marble, quartzite and quartz.

The BBB Code of Advertising, which can be found at www.bbb.org/council/for-businesses/code-of-advertising, explains Objective Superlative Claims this way:

Superlative statements in advertisements about the tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service are objective claims for which the advertiser must possess substantiation as they can be based upon accepted standards or tests. As statements of fact, such claims, like “#1 in new car sales in the city” can be proved or disproved.

BBB asked Roanoke Granite Tops, Inc. to provide substantiation or remove the claim from their website.

To date, the business has not provided the requested substantiation.

Defective stone, terrible service, & only care about money.....not your satisfaction!!! RG sold me defective granite stone which ended up having several imprints which started to appear only a couple months after purchasing it. They are refusing to replace the granite or give me a refund even though I agreed to pay for the dismantling, removal and installation of new stone from another company. No kidding, I attempted to reach them (documented) with over 30 messages (emails, text, phone) for RG trying to resolve the issue. I showed pictures over the course of 4 plus months to them and shared statements from a stone expert ss well as other granite company opinions on how the imprints could appear. They all stated it could have been sun facing while in the holders during storage. The imprint shapes measure almost exact. In any case, I did not spend this kind of money only to have defective granite throughout my kitchen. They have extremely poor customer service and will not stand behind their product. At this point, I do not know if I was sold real stone. They could have put chemical on it and torched (heated it up) to reduce the fading then sell the stone. Every other stone company I consulted with said they should refund me the cost of the stone. They said there was no way I could have made these exact imprints myself that measure the same and have appeared in different areas. I am deeply saddened and I have zero trust in them now. As a realtor, I see different stones daily. The imprints in my granite I have never seen. As a result of thier decision to not refund me the cost of the stone, I would never recommend them to any of my clients and they will be hearing from my attorney soon. Being in the service industry, your product must be trusted and the people as well.
