First off I am not a happy customer at all. For the past 6 months my electric bill has been between 300-800s a month. The only thing in my house that gets ran is the Pellet stove, my refrigerator, washer and dryer, my water heater, and maybe some TVS. Maybe. There is absolutely no way that my bill should jump from. 120 on average to 800$ a month. I have been in disconnect every month for the past 6 months. My household is based on one person income less than 2500$ a month with 4 kids. All under the age of 10. And we are in disconnect every month because we have to choose between power or food for our children. Because some of us does not get government assistance. I think that all AEP is doing is taking Bidens (inflation) in the white house as an advantage to screw over us people who can hardly afford life. So they make it harder for us to have power. SMH so that statement they make on their website to make it easier for people to have electricity. IS A LIE.

i am deeply concerned about what is going on with our power bill at our cabin in Virginia. Let me tell you about our little place...It is a 400 sf tiny home that is well insulated and has a 2 ton mini split High Efficiency Mitsubishi heat pump system with mostly dc voltage in the condenser. We winterize this cabin, so the well pump is off, hot water tank off, washer and dryer off, oven off and everything else is unplugged. The only things running is my mini fridge and a florescent light in kitchen with heat temperature for heatpump set to 65. My bill was close to 145.00 this month! Also our primary home in Mississippi is a 2500 sf 2 story home and i am running everything and my bill last month was 147.00 and we are with ******** **** ********. How in the world is a AEP (Appalachian Power) bill way more expensive with nothing hardly running? This is disturbing and i see alot of people are suffering/complaining due to the rate increase. We all need some answers please.

This is completely ridiculous how much you are charging people for their electricity especially when there are no changes in the home! Your managers also have no sympathy for us working people that can’t afford to pay an electric bill over $500! Then when asked to do some type of investigation you chose to avoid the issue. You lucky we are all stuck with your company due to no other resources cause if there ever comes a time we have an option, I’m definitely disconnecting from your company!!

Over charging and making any excuse even fake political crap. Owning a monopoly which is illegal in the United States.

I decided to go back on Budget billing after having it for almost 18 years....I took it off due to having lots of work around my house the last 2 years and knew it would not be a true summary...I signed up for it again last month and was informed by rep to pay the budget amount for this month regardless that the bill had a different amount....Now I have all my bills set up auto pay and since I'm on SSN I keep to the penny the amount of those bills in the assigned checking account...I've been uneasy about not getting anything advising of the new amount and just now called and the automatic system advising the amount due is what is on the bill not the budget amount...Spoke to a rep that stated the amount due is what's on the bill.not the budget amount...Now I know if I had not been on top of this and payment bounced I would be the one in the wrong all around etc...So I put the amount needed in the bank..Just another example of the poor customer service that has plagued us the last few years...Motto always be prepared to get the wrong information interacting with anyone and sometimes it may take 3 or 5 times to get the correct info and then it may be wrong...So thankful I still have common sense to realize we have a culture lacking responsibly in the workforce...

My power goes out roughly once a week due to AEP’s refusal to service their lines, and the surges have even ruined electronics. Their inability to keep the lights on is very close to costing me my work from home job. I am so appalled that a slight gust of wind knocks my power out for 5, 8, 12, and once 27 hours. Pathetic standard of service. Horribly run. Use any other company if possible.

I am leaving this review after a significant thunderstorm in my area. This is the first time my power has gone out, and overall my experience with Appalachian Power has been positive prior to this. However, the outage in my area was reported over four hours ago. At that time, Appalachian Power indicated that they were “assessing the condition”. Now, four hours later, they are still “assessing”- with absolutely no estimate of when power might be restored. It is getting dark, and in order to make decisions related to my family’s safety, security, and health I need to know whether or not they have any intention of restoring power today, tomorrow, or this week. It is not an unreasonable ask for them to say if they are not going to be able to restore power today- and I understand if they cannot get to it due to prioritizing hospitals and other essential services. What I do not understand is the refusal to provide any information. I am incredibly disappointed that they refuse to communicate with their customers during times like this, and the fact that I cannot rely on them for simple answers is shocking. This experience has made me rethink my opinion of their company, and it is no longer good.

We lose power about once a month, interfering with my job, as I work from home. There is never an explanation as to what is going on, almost 18 hours without power on one occasion and without power for 5 hours again today. No compensation for the hours I am missing out on work or the food that is lost. Poor service and they obviously aren't fixing the problem in the first place or this wouldn't keep happening. Awful company. Poorly run.
