I have been a customer for 5 years. I was originally a will call customer but about a year or two ago I asked to be changed to auto delivery (which they did for a short time). A couple weeks ago I realized I had not had a delivery and scheduled one for 1/3. I called 3 times on 1/3 to confirm my delivery and was assured propane would be delivered that day. When I called at 4:30 pm because my propane had still not been delivered, I was informed that if by change the propane was not delivered that day that it would definitely be delivered on Saturday. I was told I could call the emergency number if there were any issues on Saturday. Propane has not been delivered and when I called the emergency number I was informed that since I am a "will call" customer, they won't be delivering today. The ******** office has still failed to change me to auto refill after 4 requests and repeatedly lied to me about my scheduled delivery. There is a storm coming in tomorrow and propane is my ONLY backup heat source which I will not have due to the incompetence and deceit of your Hopewell staff.Business Response

Earlier this year, I had Parker Oil come out to my home to take a look at my gas connection line after having a new 4 Ton 14 Seer ******* ****** Btu 81% ******** Package Air Conditioner installed. The 2 guys that were sent didn't have a clue on how to check the gas pack connection to see if it was even working correctly. Then they ended up charging me over $300 for the smallest copper pipe connection just to say they did something for coming out. That did NOT fix the problem. When I fired up the unit, there was a burning smell of s*** They also adjusted the gas pressure gauge incorrectly on my tank as well. I had to hire another company to come and fix the issue which required me to purchase an LP kit since my new unit did not come with one. Also, when it's time to fill the propane tank, the drivers have been bypassing my home each time my tank has been at 30% or less instead of topping off when making select stops. I just wish there were more knowledgeable workers who KNOW and want to do their jobs!Customer Answer

Parker Oil did reach out to me via phone one day earlier last week. I dont recall the gentleman name. But I addressed the concerns and they stated they will see what they can do or have someone come out and take a look. There was no estimated timeframe of when that will be to fix/correct the work they previously did. If it cant be done, I will still like to request for a refund. However, I dont mind being charged if the work is done correctly!Initial Complaint

Earlier this year in the month of January I had Parker come and deliver a full tank in anticipation of adverse weather. When the ticket was filled I saw tank lockout on the receipt and called to resolve the issue. The operator did not know why there was a tank lock out and said they would send someone to check it out. Over the next several months I wait for a response to the issue, but I am only contacted about paying the balance. Today a operator calls me and explains that my tank was locked out because I didnt use enough propane for the year and how I have several service charge fees along with parts and labor fee for a leak that I never knew existed and never saw anyone come out and do any work on the propane system. Please help me with this company because they dont have any communication between their departments where they can come up with a clear reason why I have been accruing all of these bizarre charges for services that I have not been able to use.Business Response

The ********* propane tank was locked out due to nonpayment from a delivery received in 2022 which the account went 90 days past due. The charge this spring was to send out a technician to remove the tank lockout. We delivered ***** gallons of propane for a total of $208.64. The technician fee to remove the tank lockout is $146.83. Our policy on leased tanks is that the home must burn 100 gallons per year or be subject to a tank rent fee. This fee was billed at $105.30. Currently the account has feel into 120 days past due. We will waive the service charges if the ********* would please complete payment for the services rendered. The total due would be $460.77. Thank you.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear.
I was unaware of the existence of these fees, as well as the lockout on my tank. Additionally, I was not informed about the fee for removing the lockout, and I was not even aware that the lockout had been removed. As I only use the propane for a fireplace and it has not been used since the lockout was removed, I would like to propose an agreement. I suggest that your company retrieves the tank and the remaining propane, and that we discontinue our business relationship going forward. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Regards,

In August of 2021 we had our modular home set. We had ordered a gas Generac generator to add to our piece of mind. With covid, like everything else, it was on backorder. Finally in August of 2022 the generator arrived and set up by a licensed electrician. We hired Parker Oil to come and make all gas connections. Fast forward to April. Our generator is scheduled to do a self check every Thursday. I was outside working in our garden when I heard the generator attempt to fire and start without success. Upon further examination with codes and such it was discovered the 400 gallon gas tank was empty. We called Parker Oil to come check the system as there was no way we burned through 400 gallons of propane in 8 months ( 1 hr 20min) of generator checks. The propane tank was filled and a quick leak check was done and it was determined there was indeed a leak. The valve was turned off and waited for the service man. The service man came and did a more thorough examination and found the connection was loose at the gas fitting entering the house. My husband was told "it was never tightened with a wrench" We were then billed $1229.06 to refill the propane tank. We called to dispute the charges as there was a leak on a brand new install. We were told "they didn't know if we had tampered with it" and would not correct the charges. I find it very insulting to accuse us of tampering with the gas. We feel that the gas should have been replaced at no charge being that their workmanship failed.Business Response

BBB,This customer received service back over 6 months prior to this issue and owns their own propane tank. When we completed the install, a pressure test was passed therefore the system was complaint and working properly. The user owns the tank and lines therefore they are responsible for after the install. We have no idea if the system was tampered with or damaged during that timeframe.
Thanks,

I ordered over the winter 200 gallons and 100 gallons of propane. I normally go through about 200 gallons for an ENTIRE year. The first 200 gallons lasted around 3 months. We called and told them that we were out and that we believed there was a leak. They sent out techs who stated that something was wrong with the check valve, that the area where the tank has been placed (under ground) was flooding, and they believed the tank had rusted out and there was likely a hole. Two weeks later I called and stated that we were almost out again! 2 weeks and 100 gallons gone. Something was clearly wrong, this was in Feb. I waited to hear back and in March we totally ran out. In May I was admitted into the hospital for pregnancy issues and spent 30 days admitted in Richmond. While there they finally came and put in a new tank. I called several times inquiring about reimbursement for part of the propane that leaked and finally they stopped answering my calls. They have failed to even hook up the tank that is here and refuse to address the issue that they swore it was their tank (so I was stuck with them) yet they done bury rented tanks. So either they held me hostage to keep doing business with them under false pretenses that it was their tank, or it is their tank and now they don't want to be held responsible for the leak that leaked out several hundred dollars worth of propane.Business Response

Removed the tank that was suspected as to leaking and replaced with a new tank filled for free.
