I recently purchased a 2009 Jeep Wrangler from BMW of Sterling, and my experience revealed concerning practices that prospective buyers should be aware of.The dealership sold the vehicle claiming it had passed a ******** Safety Inspection, providing an official inspection certificate dated December 21, 2024. However, when the vehicle underwent a required Maryland state inspection, it failed due to a missing third brake light, a safety feature required by ******** Code 46.2-1014.1 for all passenger vehicles manufactured after 1986. This should have disqualified the vehicle from passing a ******** inspection, raising concerns about whether the original inspection was negligently performed or falsified.Additionally, the dealership promised in writing to provide a rear seat, rear tire carrier, and rear spare tire after the purchase but made no mention of the missing third brake light. When I asked about it, they stated they do not guarantee vehicles will pass Maryland inspection. However, ******** law (******** Code *********) requires dealerships to ensure vehicles comply with state safety standards or disclose any defects in writing, which they failed to do.Selling a vehicle without ensuring it meets minimum safety requirements is not only a violation of state law but also an egregious breach of customer trust. This disregard for legal obligations and basic safety standards is unacceptable.Consumers should exercise caution when dealing with BMW of Sterling and thoroughly verify all claims about vehicle condition before purchasing. I believe their practices warrant further investigation to protect others from similar experiences.

Was asked to come in to look at a *** and get an appraisal on our trade in. Made and appointment and was right on time. 10 minutes later still no comes up to us at the reception although I could see three sales **** at their desk clearly not engaged in their job with two chatting with one another drinking coffee. At 15 minutes roughly past our appointment time, some one came over to take the keys and said the sales manager would be right with us. Five more minutes go by and I asked for my keys back and that they wasted my time. I was told the sales managers are in a meeting and should be out within an hour! After reading the reviews I can see how horrible this place is with customer service with numerous 1 star reviews. Lived it and will tell you its all true. Avoid like the plague and go somewhere else.

Cold and hostile reception, predatory salesmen who will only target affluent white men. Shipped me off to a corner of the dealership because they had another buyer for a car, most likely a white rich dude. Id say this is likely a racist, classist, and extremely defunct dealership, only propped up because people are dumb enough to buy from con men. Hey **, call me. Id love to hear how you talk your way out of this.

Our mission is to provide the best customer experience for every customer. We failed when you entered our showroom. We have a truly diverse sales staff and take pride in taking care of every client as well as we can. The correspondence with the Salesperson via email or phone was with one of our senior advisors. I believe on you visit to our dealership our Salespeople must have been busy. However, we would never single anyone out due to anything else but being busy. For that we apologize. In addition, the client requested me to give them a call. I will call them this Monday October- 22nd 2024.

I had a horrible experience with this dealer. I made an appointment to test drive a car on Saturday. Whoever I spoke to on the phone said to ask for VIP Manager. When we got there on Saturday no one acknowledged us and we just stood there for 15 minutes while many sales people walked past us. I finally asked a lady to help and she looked up my appointment and then took me to the sales person who was supposed to show me the car. He was not at his desk and no one knew where he was. We sat at his desk and waited for at least 20 more minutes. This person never came. Then I saw an older man walking around and asked him if he worked there. His name was **** and he said he could help me. He took us for a test drive and I ended up liking the car. The trade it they offered me was 5K less than I got at another place so I told them I would sell my car somewhere else. **** said to leave him a deposit and I could pick up the car on Monday because apparently they were closed on Sunday. Monday morning I receive a call from **** that they sold the car on Sunday. How did they manage to sell a car that I put a deposit on is really beyond me. **** had no explanation for anything. I called my credit card and they said there were no refunds issued so now I'm disputing the charges. They have not responded to anything. This place stole my money and wasted my time.

Our mission at BMW of Sterling is to provide a World-Class customer experience. We have failed in this attempt. For this, we apologize. We have changed the sales notification process to alert everyone when a car is sold or has a deposit on it for purchase. That will eliminate what happened to you. In addition, we reprimanded the client advisor for not telling you the truth once he found out the vehicle was unavailable to another client. Please accept our apologies.

The owner over this dealership should be EMBARRASSED by the lack of integrity in this facility. We drove 3 hours to purchase a car from this lot and was stereotyped, received poor customer service, was taken on a test drive, came to a deal on a vehicle, put down a deposit only to be told lie after lie by the salesman, ****, about how they could not sell me the car (i.e. credit card machine down, car needed inspection, car had a recall, etc.) to finally being told it sold a week ago... forgetting that we were told earlier that it arrived on the lot two days prior. The manager and the salesman were tripping over each other's lies. Truly embarrassing.I do not recommend anyone to do business at this place.

I recently made the mistake of purchasing a used car from Sterling Motorcars. The car had passed a VA Safety Inspection, but as I live in MD, I'm required to get a second inspection. The Motor Mount and CV Joint both failed! Motor mounts connect the engine to the frame of the car. So I've been driving my kids around in a car with an engine that might fall out! If it gets damaged, it could cost $10,000+ to replace it! When I contacted my salesman, Rabih AbdulMalek, he informed me that his sales manager, Todd Patykewich, said the car was sold "As Is" and there is "nothing he can do." I had simply asked that Sterling repair the defects, provide a loaner car during service and provide an extended warranty to cover any future issues missed during the dealer's safety inspection. I'm very disappointed that Todd chose to hide behind the "As Is" excuse instead of honoring Sterling's pledge to "work closely with you to ensure you're buying the perfect used car for your lifestyle." I doubt anyone's "lifestyle" involves driving their family around in such a dangerous car. As a "Trusted New & Pre-Owned Car Dealerships in Sterling, VA", I expected much better service than I received.

In 2017 I purchased a CPO 2014 BMW i3 from BMW OF Sterling. Recently I saw an ad at their website and decided to buy another 2014 BMW i3. It is hard to believe how a BMW Service center has changed. Every thing about the transaction was spoiled with deception, concealment, and obfuscation. I have already made a complaint to BMWUSA, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Attorney General of Virginia. How can the makers of such wonderful cars permit such a sorry group of people sell them? Since 1980 I have purchased 2 i3s, a 128 convertible, a 128 coupe, a Z-3, an X-3, a 428xi, a 318 ti, and five other 3 series cars. Stay away from BMW of Sterling. The stores in Rockville, Marlow Heights, Alexandria, and Fairfax offer an excellent customer experience. 8

My complaint with Sterling involves buying a used Mercedes C-300. Knowing the issues with this model, I asked them to check the rear sub-frame, and if clear of rust or other issues, I would proceed to drive from Pennsylvania to Virginia, test drive it and decide whether or not to purchase it. Well, I did purchase the vehicle and learned that Sterling had lost the spare key, telling me I would have to have another one made. Okay, I proceeded to drive it home, noticing a little shimmy at 65pmh, which you could not get to on a test drive. When I got home, I took it to my mechanic for service check on all normal wear items (oil change, brake, radiator, etc.) and the shimmy. While at my local service garage, they noticed the right rear wheel was bent and the rear sub-frame was nearly rotted through and, for my own safety, would not permit it to leave the garage. I contacted Sterling about the issues and they refused to address any of the issues or replace the rear sub-frame, even though the dealer warranty held them to do so and instead opted to refund my money and pick the car up. Currently, I am waiting for a check from them before I can release the vehicle to their custody. They also refuse to compensate me for the service check on the shimmy, the bent rear wheel, the fluid check (which they said they had done but not!) Furthermore, they declared that the vehicle passed the Virginia State Safety inspection, slapping a new sticker on the car when it clearly, my mechanic as witness, should NEVER have passed. This dealership is the worst I have ever encountered. Do not trust them, do not deal with them - they are snakes.

We purchased a used vehicle from BMW of Sterling, and it was recorded/ sold as zero damage. We looked it over in the afternoon and evening and it seemed to be accurate. Two weeks later we found a cover-up that was hidden. The vehicle was in an accident and had minor damage. We went back to the dealership as we also had tag/title issues with them and started to ask questions. The answer was that they just took the previous owner's word for it, they really didn't inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was a 2021 and not even a year old. I had a cost-estimate done; it is $1,800 worth in damages, and they will not do anything about it but say sorry we missed it. Tag and title were a whole different issue. We made sure that we asked about this specifically before we purchased the vehicle as we ran into issues in the past. We had to get multiple temp-tags printed as they could not get our registration completed. I had to do this process in the past with our Navigator and it took me 15 minutes. We kept calling the dealership asking for the manager and was passed from desk to desk. Our sales rep would not respond and when she did it was around 10pm every time. We had to go to the dealership and find the Manager ourselves twice to finally get it resolved. Total: 6 additional trips to the dealership from out of state to resolve one issue. The dealership REFUSES to do anything about the unreported damages. This dealership should not even get a one-star rating. One of our worst experiences yet.
