      I have written House Buyers of America, Inc. and least three times using certified mail (meaning someone at this location received the mail) asking them to kindly remove me from the mailing list from Sept. 2022-June 2023. I even went there in person to ask of the same request in a respectful and kind manner. House Buyers of America has ignored my letters and my in-person request to stop receiving mailed letters to my home. It is important to note that I never signed up for their services or offered to sale any of my properties. At this point, it is harassment and I will eventually have to seek legal action if necessary. I work in news media.

      We have added you to our Do Not Mail file. Please allow up to 60 days for any existing mail to clear the mail stream. There is some mail in bulk delivery that has already been sent to the post office facilities, those can take up to 2 months to clear the system.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I've heard this before from this same business before after not only speaking with them in person asking them to remove me from the mailing list, but also after sending them at least 3 certified letters with confirmed signature in a span of 5 months asking them remove me.  It should not take going to the BBB and/or speaking with an attorney to seek resolution.

      i am a Senior citizen, retired sub teacher and I get multiple phone calls from Home buyer investment companies every day, multiple times a day and i have asked them to not call me to remove my cell phone number but they continue to harass me daily about buying my home and do I have any other properties, I would consider selling to them. My home is not on the market for sale and is deeded to my family upon my death.

      I definitely can understand your frustration, I don't like getting annoying telemarketing calls either. That's why we never do telemarketing!

      I think you have the wrong company, we do NOT operate in Texas or anywhere near Texas. I even double checked our database and your phone number is nowhere to be found.

      So sorry for the this. This is the first request we have received a request to remove, we track everything very diligently. We have immediately removed you from our database. We are constantly sending mail, so there could be some mail out to you mid-stream that we can't stop from the post office. Please allow up to 60 days to clear the mail stream as bulk mail tends to get delayed.

      Please make these scammers stop calling and texting me about buying my house. They are looking for someone with a different name than me and I have asked verbally and in text to stop contacting me several times. They are harassing me and trying to scam. Everyone knows cash for houses is a scam. Come on now! Stop these scammers! They also keep changing their phone number because I keep blocking the ones they call and text from after asking to them to stop.

So we were just following up to get you the offer. I understand not wanting cold calls/spam, we totally agree, we NEVER do cold calling. We only call people who have reached out to us first.

      January 21, 2023 House Buyers of America, Inc ************************************************************************************** ************************************************** Complaint Type: Advertising/Sales Issues Desired Resolution: No further contact by the business In the past we have contacted House Buyers of America, Inc by mail upon three occasions and respectably and politely asked House Buyers to remove our name and address from its database on 10/14/2013, 12/01/2021, and 01/16/2022. We have now, on January 21, 2023, received a fourth unwanted, unsolicited correspondence. We would like to request that House Buyers of America, Inc permanently remove our name and address from its database. We have absolutely zero interest in doing any business with this company.We believe that a reputable company would honor our request. We believe a responsible real estate investment company would provide information on all its marketing materials as to how an individual would have an opportunity to opt-out of its marketing material and then honor that request.Thank you very much for your time. We look forward to no further contact from this business

      I am rejecting this response because: I find the answer from the business unacceptable. 

      The business responded by saying, Unfortunately, we never received any requests to remove you from our mailing list. This is inconsistent with the fact that I sent copies of my requests to be removed from the House Buyers of America, Inc database and mailing list on 10/14/2013, 12/01/2021, and 01/16/2022; along with my complaint.

      My complaint did not include a report of how many times I have called in the past ten years and asked to be removed. I want the pernicious predatory marketing material from House Buyers of America, Inc, to stop. 

      We believe that after nearly 10-years of asking to be removed from this company's mailing list that a reputable company would honor our requests. We believe a responsible real estate investment company would provide information on all its marketing materials as to how an individual would have an opportunity to opt-out of its marketing material and then honor that request.

      I wrote a letter to House Buyers of America in January 2022 requesting that they STOP HARASSING us with their GREEDY PREDATORY junk letters to our address, and permanently remove our address from their mailing list. Yet, they keep sending these harassing letters (most recent in Nov. 2022). All they do is PREY and HARASS primarily people of color communities looking for a way to DEFRAUD & CHEAT people out of their hard earned homes by offering them PEANUTS for their properties, so they can line their GREEDY VULTURE POCKETS on the backs of poor and misfortunes of others. Then, when you tell them to stop the harassment, they turn around and SELL your information to other predatory house buyer companies. What DISGUSTING SLEAZY filth!

      I am rejecting this response because: With today's technology, it shouldn't take 60 days to stop sending your letters. House Buyers of America has ZERO INTEGRITY, and just flat out LIE. Many people have submitted complaints to the BBB about House Buyers of America because you ignored their requests to STOP clogging their mailbox with your letters.  Yet, you ignore our requests and keep sending them.  Then, we have to turn to the BBB and the State Attorney Generals Office to get you to stop sending your letters.  This is only one part of the unethical and greedy predatory practices of Home Buyers of America.

There are many companies with similar names to ours and people often get confused. We do NOT make unsolicited calls or send unsolicited SMS messages, however, many of our competitors do.

      Sometime in the spring of 2021 I contacted House Buyers of America as I was about to sell my home in Virginia. I don't recall whether they gave me an offer or not, but that is irrelevant. We sold the house in June of 2021 through traditional means (MLS listing) and moved across the country. I continue to get calls (all going straight to voicemail so I have no opportunity to answer directly, though none of my other calls go straight to voicemail) leaving me messages to call or text back to discuss the sale of the home I no longer own. I have tried calling those numbers back but no one answers and I have tried texting those numbers back, but no one responds. I probably get these calls once a month or so and they will not stop even though we haven't owned the property for more than a year. Surely this is some form of harassment? I suspect it's just the employees using my old information to make their contact quotas or something. Does it take a cease and desist order to get my information out of their system?

As mentioned in our previous response, it can take up to 60 days to clear the mail stream with bulk mail already sent to post office facilities. We do not control the post office bulk mail, they mail whenever they decide, but usually they clear everything out in 60 days. Did you receive any other mail after 11/9/22? We removed your mailing address listed below on 8/9/22 as you requested, so no new mail was processed after that date. If you did receive mail, please provide it to us.

      If you are receiving mail at another address other than below, please provide that address as well.

      By the way, we tried calling you, but the phone number you gave the BBB is an invalid number. We also sent you an email. Feel free to reach out to us with additional information.

      The company calls me monthly requesting I contact them about selling my home. I've asked them twice over the past 5 years to stop calling and they won't. I block one number only to have another used. I honestly don't believe I ever contacted them directly; they had gotten my interest from another home buying organization. Anyhow, this was many years ago. I want the calls to stop permanently. I will never use their company so they are wasting their time.
