The shades themselves seem ok; Ill come back to review those later. However, I just unboxed my shades to start installing them, and there is no mounting hardware except brackets. The instructions are a joke. Two diagrams. The diagrams show two screws for each bracket, but no indication of what size screws. The pulls for the shades are just like a plastic tab. My shades are outside mount and theres no covering for the top of the track that gets mounted. What a racket - for the money I spent youd think that you get a teensy bit more quality and support. If I had known what a shortcoming these shades were I never would have spent so much money.

    Hi *****-

I am so sorry that you are disappointed with the shades. I talked with ***** and he let me know that he did send the screws priority mail and I believe they arrived yesterday. The team is typically extremely diligent about packing out all the hardware, but clearly they made a mistake on this one which I will touch base with them to see how we can prevent reoccurrence.

Your feedback on the instructions is really helpful. I was the one who pushed the team towards having install instructions that were just diagrams rather than written out as I had thought the written instructions too wordy, but clearly I was off base in that regard. We are going to start offering both the written and visual instructions moving forward so I very much appreciate that learning.

In terms of the shades not having a covering over the headrail I can see how that would make the shade appear unfinished, but it is actually an aspect of the shade of which I am quite proud. When you see a shade with a completely enclosed headrail that means that the "guts" of the shade are not accessible and therefore that shade is not able to be repaired. Our shades are designed to last for 15 or more years which might mean a repair down the road - it is important to me that shades stay out of the landfill so instead of a client having a 10 year old shade that has to be replaced, our clients have 10 year old shades that we can repair and will last another 10 years (we just had a batch of shades in the factory that are getting repaired that are from 2007). The open headrail allows us to do those repairs.

The handle is a bit of a conundrum for us. We have been working with our raw material supplier on different options, but as of now the handle that we have is the only option. We will keep exploring. As a small manufacturing facility it is fun to get challenges like this one as it keeps us on our toes.

Again, I am sorry that the experience has fallen short of your expectations. I do value the feedback- this is my family's business (I took it over from my Dad a little more than 10 years ago) and when I did I committed to growing the manufacturing side of the business. I firmly believe that having small, dynamic, domestic manufacturing businesses is important to our communities. We can not stay competitive if we do not hear about our shortcomings so thank you very much.

If you would like to talk further I would welcome the opportunity. You can reach me at ************.

    Warmly,

    *****

Thanks to the folks at ******** Shades / Gordons Window Decor. Not only did they address my gripes above (as you can see) Miss ***** also emailed me privately to make sure everything was working and to address my concerns in case I didnt see the review response. So I have to change my review a bit - the company is really responsive and its a small family owned company and theyve treated me really well. This is a good company, good people.
