On November 20, 2024, I scheduled a Telehealth primary care doctors appointment with Medical Arts Associates for the same day. I paid the copay upfront ($25) per company policy. I waited 45 minutes on video chat to see the doctor. When the doctor arrived on the call, he informed me that they were experiencing a power outage (they had been all day) and were using hotspots for internet. The doctor was almost entirely unintelligible until the call dropped 5 minutes later. The call was restarted, the doctor couldn't understand me, and I couldn't understand him because of the terrible internet connection on their end. The call dropped again. He said that if it dropped again, he would call me. I waited 2 hours, notifying the front desk multiple times throughout, and never received a call back. I demanded a refund, and the next day, they refunded my $25. But today (January 29, 2025) they charged the $25 to my card again. I have attempted to contact them twice, and left a voicemail, and have not heard back.Initial Complaint

The appointment I scheduled with Medical Arts Associates was for an annual physical exam. As shown in the attachments, a couple of blood tests were conducted through LabCorp (Blood Test Provider, ordered by Medical Arts Associates). There are two points I would like to address:The urine test I originally took on the day of the visit was lost by Medical Arts Associates. Despite multiple inquiries, I received no response regarding why my test results were not released. They informed me that the results were not received by LabCorp and advised me to redo the test at their provider, which caused significant inconvenience. I had to spend additional time for the test and incurred extra charges because ****************** incorrectly categorized the test. (I am not addressing this issue further here.)The second point is about the billing for the Annual Physical Test, which should be covered by my insurance. I contacted my insurance, and they confirmed that the annual physical charge was covered, but the provider listed this visit as an additional inquiry visit. This is confusing because I clearly mentioned to the doctor that the visit was for an annual physical, and I only briefly mentioned having a small stomachache, which was not the reason for my visit. The doctor did not prescribe any medication, so I don't understand why there is an additional charge for this visit.Initial Complaint

I went to the clinic for the first time on 10/23/2023 for a check-up. I had to get a full bloodwork from the laboratory next door. I made an account with their EHR system, Tebra. Their itemized receipt does not show what my insurance paid for and does not look like how other clinics show their charges. I was charged $340 for a check-up and bloodwork. They seem to be asking for small payments at a time, which I have never experienced from other clinics - it feels like a scam. The receipt says I paid $17.97 the day of my appointment and then on 12/28/2023, I was charged $161.75. Total of $179.72. That does not make sense.I had a Zoom call re-check on 12/18/2023 and the receipt says my total is $275.44.. On 04/25/2024 I was charged $123.79 and then on 04/26/2024 $13.75.Another re-check appt on 03/05/2024 and receipt says my total is $225. It was a Zoom appointment - seems like too much especially with insurance. I was charged on 05/04/2024 $119.76.The charges do not add up and I would like a more detailed explanation of these charges. If this is not correct, I would like to get charged correctly, and have them erase my card information.Looking at ****** reviews and now on BBB, this looks like a common issue. I tried reaching out to the billing department several times now, in different days and times and no one is answering at all. There is no information that they mention of what billing department schedule is. I talked with a customer service person and she said there is nothing she could do but leave a message about this to the billing department. I still have not received a call.. A person several months ago on ****** review said that they also have tried reaching out to billing and had the same experience. How is this legal for a clinic to do? If they are committing insurance fraud, I would take legal action.Initial Complaint

I had a virtual visit with *************************** on February 20, 2024 and have a phone record that the call was only two minutes and forty seconds. During this call, I explained to her my symptoms and asked for medication. All she said was, "I cannot prescribe you anything because I don't know what you have. You need to come to my office so I know what I am treating." The point of this virtual visit was because I couldn't leave my home due to my severe symptoms and furthermore, I live ***** minutes away. There is no way I would go into the city if I have Multicare near me. So unfortunately for me, I had to book another virtual visit with the Multicare, same day. I have a thorough doctor's notes from the visit including prescription from ***************************** PA-C, not ****************. It is very shameful that two months later, I receive phone calls from her and text messages that I owe a balance. She wants to charge me for the two minutes she wasted of my time without even bothering to help. I am not paying $167.90 for her to tell me she didn't know what she was treating and could not treat me. Besides a simple receipt, there was no detailed report about the visit because our conversation was no more than two minutes and forty seconds. It was an inconvenience that caused me to make another doctor's *********** that day.Attached: 1) A thorough visit summary from Multicare (***************************** PA-C), my second visit.2) A screenshot of the phone call I had with *************************** that was two minutes and forty seconds long.3) A receipt from Medical Arts Associates (***************************) for the phone call.Initial Complaint

Went there twice for a simple prescription. No tests. Nothing. Got a bill for $50. Paid it the day I received it. A month later, get a charge for $306 out of nowhere. The memo line is just a series of random characters + Medical Arts + the last four of their phone number. Looked nothing like the original transaction. Called the clinic and the number is disconnected. At no point did I give permission or authorize any charge nor did I get an explanation of charges. Looking at ******* there have been a series of reviews in the last few months complaining about billing fraud.Initial Complaint

Hello, I had a medical visit in April. When I received the bill, it states I am liable for the full bill amount when according to my insurance, I only should have a small copay.Upon inspection, I realized this practice used my old insurance information ( thus no insurance discount/coverage was applied to to the bill). I provided this practice with my new insurance information, and I have contacted them several times (in writing, called and left voicemails). Eventually, I was able to speak to someone from their billing department a couple of months ago, who assured me they would fix this. The bill has not yet been adjusted. However, since July, this practice has been sending me emails and text messages reminding me to pay my balance. Since speaking to the billing rep on the phone, I have tried to contacting this business again but have not been able to get a hold of anyone on the phone or get a response via their designated message portal online. I am concerned about this going to collections and it affecting my credit score, but I also don't want to pay an incorrect amount on my bill. It feels a bit silly to be writing a complaint here, but I'm not sure what else I should do so that they will stop contacting me to pay the incorrect amount, and will adjust my bill. Once adjusted, I will be happy to pay right away.Initial Complaint

The first red flag was the fact no paperwork was filled out until after my appointment. She also mentioned she might not have the filler that I was requesting and still injected something that isnt what I paid for, and was deceived. The injection was a lot more painful and dense than I remember, and Ive had the same injection for the past five years.I did not receive a Juverderm pamphlet after my appointment for aftercare. They cannot provide paperwork, and or evidence of what they used, but I know for a fact it was a cheap filler. Im aware of the healing process and this is not a Juverderm healing process. My lips are hard all around my lips, and it hurts to eat. I have a visible hard line around my lips. They are lying and deceiving patients just to get money, and put some cheaper version of filler in my lips that I have never had other than Juverderm Xc, which is the highest quality of hyaluronic acid, and I can tell by the stiffness in my lips this was a different type of filler. Ill check the business on ****** and they have horrible, horrible reviews and I have no idea how this place is still running and in business and causing harm to others, this establishment needs to get shut down, no paperwork, no aftercare, no pre op instructions or post op,Initial Complaint

I have had a few doctor visits at Medical Arts Associates in ********, in Jan, Feb and March, 2023. I shared my health insurance on and before the first visit and was never told that the ****** does not accept my insurance. I was told by *************************** that it is illegal for doctor ******s to pretend to bill insurance, continue to schedule appointments and not catch this issue. Not communicate, schedule appointments. They didn't inform me about payment issues then sent me a $1200 bill requesting payment. They sent me > 20 texts demanding payment and adding late fees. There was no informed consent about the insurance issue. My insurance changed and they stopped accepting community health plan. I am disabled and see this doctor's ****** has an extensive history of surprise billing patients. The *************************** rep noted their poor online reviews on Yelp: ************************************************************************************************* Please also see the ****** reviews for billing. This is not an isolated experience of this doctor's ****** in misleading clients on accepting their insurance, charging for services whether they have occured or not, and then piling up and surprise billing patients. Please advise how your ****** may address and what steps I can take as a citizen trying to resolve an unreasonable set of charges under these circumstances. Thank you!Initial Complaint

I went to an appointment booked on April 21st of 2023 with *******************************. The main purpose of my visit was to receive referrals to specialists (an endocrinologist and psychologist) to continue my care as I just moved from a different state and require certain medications and tests to be completed by specialists due to certain medical conditions I have. The physician had good manners during the visit and said that she would send in the referrals and to call the office if I had any problems. When I contacted the specialist, they told me that they did not receive any referrals. I contacted Medical Arts Associates to have them send the referral again. It was still never sent. Since then I called two other times in which my calls were not answered. I left detailed voice messages describing the situation and requesting for them to send in the referral or get back to me, neither which happened. I was billed $365 for this visit in which the purpose of the visit was never fulfilled and the service was never provided. Over the course of many months, I have attempted to reach out to them to resolve the issue in which they have been negligent. They have done nothing to correct the situation. This is fraudulent as they billed me for a service that wasn't provided and malpractice as it affects my ability to receive specialized care due to their neglect. I would like them to either send me the referrals personally for me to fax to the specialists OR adjust the billing amount.
