    We live in ************* *** located at ********************************************************************* September 17, 2022 there was a blockage in the 4" common area sewer pipe that services units 7, 8, 14 & 15. The pressure from the backup was so intense it blew out the seal at the base of our toilet flooding the lower bathroom/laundry room with approximately 100 gallons of sewer water. This caused damage to the vanity and all adjoining walls in the family room, kitchen and laundry/bath room. Our Neighbor in Unit # 8 sustained similar damage. I have been continuously communicating with ************************* at CAU who is the *** Insurance adjuster. CAU Claim # ******. While ***** and *** have acknowledged receipt of all communications and bills for the last 2 months, there have been no payments issued to any of the vendors and all bills for the remediation, asbestos testing and abatement are being sent to collections.

    Hard to believe companies like this one exist and stay in business. If you are a condo association, stay away from CAU! Beware they will cut corners on a claim. Our condo association had a unit fire, resulting in a total of 5 units affected. Probably more but a full and thorough investigation was not conducted to determine if there were others. An estimate was created by a big construction company for CAU without visiting all affected units and without conducting an industrial hygienist report to determine the scope of work for restoration of the building. CAU submitted a proof of loss statement without the correct policy number and address. The *** contained a limit on supplemental claims equal to the Recoverable Depreciation on a Guaranteed Replacement Cost policy for which not limit should have been imposed. CAU withheld the undisputed amount for not signing and returning the ***. In an effort on the insured to resolve the issues with the ***, CAU sent out threats to deny any coverage for mold, soot, fungus or pollutants due to the delay in signing the ***. The origin of fire unit burned plastics, blinds, carpet, house hold chemicals. CAU stated "Normally, unless there is an asbestos or mold issue an industrial hygienist is not used for fire repairs. There is no industrial hygienist report required. No report exists nor do we intend to obtain one. The air is managed by the contractors as needed, but Im doing this 25 years as an adjuster and 12 of then as a fire investigator and we never use hygienists unless there are pollutants involved." As a result the units will not be protected from pollutants or hazardous contaminants. And it is very probable the units will never be fully restored due to the low, unfair estimated claim and supplemental limits imposed on a policy sold as a Guaranteed Replacement Cost Coverage.
