I took my car in to have them correct an issue with my coolant system that they had previously touched every part of. They diagnosed the problem as being a blown head gasket and stating that I would need to replace the engine and turbo in my vehicle. I had another mechanic look at the vehicle the next day and their was a shop rag on the upper radiator hose and when removed a leak was discovered coming from that hose at that location. The second mechanic diagnosed the issue as a cracked thermostat housing and a upper radiator hose that needed to be replaced, a repair that will be thousands of dollars less than replacing the entire engine and turbo in the vehicle. The repair should be covered under their warranty, but they will not honor their warranty.

I bought/shipped a Porsche Turbo from a dealer in ********. When it arrived the air-con blew hot. After reading stellar reviews I took it to Rod's Japanese Auto Care @ **** Guide in ********** **. They proposed to diagnose and fix the problem; it was obvious the system was low on refrigerant. I wanted to know if air-con was simple recharge or significant as dealer should repair in that case. Bill was ~$550+. In <2000 miles (mostly before it got hot/no air-con required) the air-con was blowing hot again. I took it back to Rod's. They wanted to diagnose again for $295+t before they would touch the car. By that time there was no recourse with dealer and I was getting caught in a do-loop loop where I pay Rod's ~$320 before they will recharge the car (at my cost) without ever getting down to the root cause of the problem. This could repeat indefinitely and I refused to play. I am sure others have experienced this same game @ Rod's. They charge a lot but when it comes to actual resolution they are defensive and uncooperative but willing to continue the cycle of perpetual billing. I would recommend you take your performance car elsewhere. Their willingness to resolve issues in a meaningful way is nil. They prefer to bill instead.
