The main (traction) battery in my 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV failed on 12/25/24. I brought the vehicle to Burien Chevrolet on 12/30/24 for repair: at that time, the car was still under a GM 1 year bumper-to-bumper warranty (I purchased the car in January 2024 as a "GM Repurchased Vehicle" with the 1-year bumper-to-bumper coverage), and the electric power train warranty had 8+ more years left on it. After inspection, ***** my service advisor reported that a large portion of the traction battery had failed and ** had authorized a full battery replacement to be installed under warranty. That was over 5 weeks ago. Every time I call to find out when my car will be ready to pick up, I get another version of the same increasingly-unbelievable story that a battery was shipped from **'s factory but it hasn't arrived yet, no one knows where it is right now, and no one can say for sure when it will be delivered to the service department in Burien. Burien Chevrolet has not provided a loaner vehicle for me to use while my disabled vehicle sits on their lot awaiting a new battery... and as a single parent of a young child, being without transportation in the winter months is infuriating unsafe and completely unworkable, especially since I bought a vehicle with full warranty coverage to avoid a situation like this. I need Burien Chevrolet to source the needed part, install it, and return a fully working vehicle to me on a reasonable and reliable timeline. Weekly predictions of a delivery and repair timeline that repeatedly prove to be false is no longer acceptable. The battery is being manufactured at a ** factory for a ** dealer to be used in a ** product. This is all in-house and shouldn't be so complicated or obscure. Please note that the vehicle was purchased from ******* Chevrolet in ******** on 1/8/24. I was unable to return to ******* for the repairs because the battery failure rendered the vehicle undriveable for the distance required to get to ********.

This is in response to ******* ********* BBB complaint against Burien Chevrolet.  The timeline of events stated in this complaint are accurate.  Michaels Bolt EV did experience a main battery failure in which ** covered it under warranty.  We have attached the text message thread between ******* and ***** during its time at Burien Chevrolet.  Burien Chevrolet must reply on a 3rd partys and GM for parts and timelines under warranty repairs.   Unfortunately, their estimates on parts production and shipping are not accurate nor detailed, vague at best.  This causes frustration at the dealership level as well at the customer level.  ********************** tries its best to give estimates on shipping and repair timelines but due to the vague information given by ** it can cause frustration for both parties involved.  During this process ******* never requested a loaner vehicle. (see attached text thread) Once Burien Chevrolet became aware ******* needed a loaner vehicle, one was offered.  ******* never picked up the loaner after it was offered.  This repair has been completed, and ******* is now in possession of the Bolt EV.  ******* if you have any additional feedback please contact ***** ******** **************************************************************.  Burien Chevrolet apologies for this delay in parts delivery and really hope that ** can give us more clarity in these matters to eliminate frustrations like these. We have opened up a case with ** in hopes to resolve a clearer timeline for warranty repairs.

    Thank you,
    Burien Chevrolet

On May 20, 2023, I bought a 2015 Chevrolet Spark ** from Burien Chevrolet. On September 14, 2023, the battery failed while driving, leading to a tow home via insurance. From September 15th to 30th, attempts to contact Burien Chevrolet were mostly unanswered until I visited in person on September 30th. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership on October 4, 2023, with the main battery declared dead. Despite assurances, communication was sparse, with a single voicemail in October mentioning Chevrolet covering half of a replacement battery, but none were available. Further attempts to resolve the issue were unfruitful until a conversation with General Manager *************************** revealed the ** battery wasn't covered by my warranty, contradicting earlier assurances from the finance manager at purchase in May. On November 15, 2023, I sent a certified letter requesting vehicle repurchase or repair, received by Burien Chevrolet on November 18, 2023, but I haven't received any response since, despite attempts to contact them.

In response to *********************, Complaint #********,

Erins Spark EV was towed into us approximately 3 months after taking delivery.  Our mechanics determined the main propulsion battery had failed.  **** had purchased an extended warranty that covered most of the electronic components excluding the main propulsion battery.  This was itemized as an excluded item in which ***** initialed and signed. The warranty coverage was clearly itemized and clearly stated which items were excluded. Erins Spark EV is out of GM factory warranty.  Burien Chevrolet was able to get GM to pay for half the cost of the main propulsion battery even though it was out of factory warranty.  Once Burien Chevrolet was given guidance from GM two options were presented to ****.  1. Repair the Spark EVs main propulsion battery utilizing GMs warranty offer.  2. Trade in the Spark EV for another vehicle. Both offers were declined.  We have attempted to reach **** several times since the Spark EVs still remains at our location with no success.  Please contact either ***** or Floor at ************

    Thank you,
    Burien Chevrolet

I had hydraulic fluid leaking one night and my clutch pretty much went out. I took my car to a shop and I was told one of the Bolts had been torqued too much and that resulted in needing a whole new transmission. The dealership I bought it from told me I have gone over my ****** mile warranty and they can do anything even though it was their mechanic the screwed before I even got the car. I havent had the car for even a year. I shouldnt have to pay a dime for something that was damaged before I bought the vehicle.

    To Whom it may concern,
On or about 11/15/2022 I was contacted by a customer, *******************. He informed me that his car had broken down in ****** and requested that we pay for the repair since he had just purchased it from us a few weeks ago.  He had told me that a bolt had fallen out inside the transmission and caused catastrophic damage to the transmission housing. I asked him to send photos so I could clearly understand what he is talking about. And he did so. I also looked at the records of repairs that we performed here at this dealership to assess responsibility.
After investigating and examining the photos.  I learned that the bolt that had fallen out had nothing to do with the repair performed at this shop. I explained to ****** that we did in fact replaced the clutch and pressure plate; it was discovered by ******* ********** that the throw out bearing bolt had fallen out. We didnt touch the throw out bearing. there were multiple calls between the extended service contract company and myself as well as the customer and ******* VW. I am still in contact with his extended warranty company seeing if they will cover this repair.
